Haha, I have a pretty funny story to share. So I noticed last couple of weeks/months my winrate dropped significantly, especially in the CO-BTN which is strange since those are always your highest winrates. Yesterday I finally found out why that was the case as this was my winrate for partypoker in PT4 this year

I only thought it had a visual effect of not being able to display the graph (had a fatal error: division by zero), but didn't think it actually effected the numbers, but turns out there was a glitch in PT4 which didn't register tournament handhistories correctly anymore, but I'm really terrible at updating PT4 so hadn't done it in over a year. So all this time I thought I sucked, I actually had a flat winrate for half of my hands in my alias lmao

Pretty funny that - at least partially - because of this I decided to study a ton lately, in order to improve my winrate again. So yesterday I fixed this error by updating PT4, purging (removing) the effected handhistories from my database, and re-importing them and turns out I'm winning at a decent 7 ev bb/100 rate this year, while running pretty poor as my actual winrate is around 3bb/100.

Pokerwise things have picked up just a little, last sunday I won a bowl for 3k which was nice, and this sunday I played like an absolute beast all day (see giraffe). Unfortunately it didn't really result in anything noteworthy, whereas I got a 27th in a 109 powerfest with 42k 1st and a day 2 in the milly, which fizzled out quickly when I ran my AQ into AA & KK yeye. Also played yesterday, but ran poor when it mattered, with losing KK vs AK for chiplead last 8 of a decent sized bowl as the exponent of it. Feeling super confident when playing though, I find it so rewardful to know actual 'answers' (as far as that's possible in mtt's) after you studied certain topics extensively. Taking off today, as tuesdays can ead and have a early appointment anyway tmrw, and then will grind 3 days straight I think from wednesday till friday. So far a breakeven'ish scoop, could have been worse I guess

Something I've always done is sell pieces @ markup that is a bit lower than my ROI. Ie if I thought I had a 25% ROI in a tourney I'd sell @ 1.15 or something. This way you lock in some variance free income+reduce your personal swings quite a lot. Has really sucked in times when I had to take smaller pieces of myself than I would have liked and had big scores but was definitely far better off this way than not being in the games at all or worst case busto because of playing under-rolled.

Just a thought/suggestion.

GLGL this man hope you win all the $$$ in SCOOP
Yep, I agree, and I think I do by now. I'm not recklessly firing any 109/215 anymore, and carefully gameselecting them/not re-entering too late either. I actually am selling for 109+ because I got tired of the variance, and it just had too much of an impact on your overall profit/winrate when you run poor (obv works in the other direction too but would be fine with that at this point)

Thx mate, gl in scoop too

You basically get a handful of roulette spins at the absolute top of your buyin range and in relatively huge fields for that buyin range. Recipe for absolute disaster. I could write a 10 page rant about this stuff but I'll only add that portfolio management and general bankroll growth considerations are skills hugely lacking in the reg population and these are skills that can be just as important as how well they play the game.

Overall super happy with my play throughout this series, have had many semi-deep runs, but obviously as is to be expected, you need to run very good throughout the whole tournament in those minefields, and not only the first half or 3/4 of it. I think I put myself in some very good spots to make some decent money, but unfortunately luck hasn't been on my side during the endstages. There's nothing we can do about that, and we just gotta keep trucking and focus on making good decisions. Having almost 11 ev bb/100 at ABI 60 is something I shouldn't be too ashamed of i guess. Winrate is really poor for bb8k+, which again confirms my feelings that I run quite bad in the endstages. Taking off today, and then get ready for an epic 3 days of poker, with all the series wrapping up. GL everyone!

Depends a lot on how fishy your games are. There's usually so many multiway pots and bad players in MTTs that it's quite difficult to win or BE at redline but still 3 to 1 blue - red ratio is pretty poor. Even in fishy games it can easily be 6 to 1 or higher. The reggier the games the closer to BE it should be. Not that 20k hands is relevant just something to look out for long term.
