SCOOP Recap
For some reason my alias's won't group together but this is how the month went overall (note I tried to fade 888 as much as possible):
(Know this isn't showing for some reason - ended the series at about -$10k).
As you can see I'm down some, but certainly not car crash - the one result that saved me was 5th in the $1k $500k GTD for $25k on Party.
Feel like I learnt a fair bit from this series - seems regardless how many of these you play, there's always something new to learn, whether it's about your playing abilities or your own mind. Most days in week 1 I was starting 6pm compared to my usual 3pm grind, felt alot easier going and pretty chill given I could get out the house and do something, as on the whole in the UK we had some pretty nice weather.
However heading into week 2 there were way more tournaments worth playing, resulting in me starting at 3pm pretty much every single day Sunday through to Sunday. Whilst I could manage this with my usual grind, when you add the high intensity that these big buyins bring by Thurs/Fri as I seemingly kept bricking every event I played it was way too stressful on the mind - resulting in a mini breakdown of sorts
I ended up doubting my own ability a considerable amount and I definitely had cabin fever meaning this early grind time meant I didn't have the spare time to do something with my days prior to grinding.
Thankfully a 6pm start was on the cards come Saturday which helped me regroup (along with some nice weather and inspiring words from Pads/Sam and Elmerixx) and get going as we moved into arguably the biggest Sunday of the year. While Sunday felt fine, nothing to write home about I managed to have a +8k day simply due to the nature of the tournaments I was playing (plenty of 1k's across Party and PS to throw money at). It may have been a losing series but there are so many regs (probably the majority) who wish they did as little damage to their bankrolls as I did, I'm fortunate to have the series that I did, unfortunately the stars didn't align for something special to happen.
Key lessons:
> Starting to 3pm during SCOOP is way more intense than starting at 3pm for a normal grind - bare this in mind when planning series schedules;
> Regs have feelings too - consider that emotions come into opponents thought processes in buyins they aren't used to (seemed many were afraid to bluff hands they should always be bluffing on rivers, only give credit if you are sure they deserve it);
> As soon as you start feeling negative discuss it in productive ways (not whiney bad beat stories, why always me and such), regardless of how illogical your thought process may feel - it always feels 10x better to get it off your chest, like a weight has been lifted from your shoulders;
> If you think you need a little more time off than you schedule for during a series, whether it be an extra day or simply an extra couple of hours then listen to your mind and take it - you will feel way better for it.
> If you feel weak or exposed in certain areas of your game during the series, write these down and create an action plan when the series ends.
Need to ensure I read this back during WCOOP and in the build up to prepare myself more efficiently.
