Hi verneer,
I have a question about the iron man challange. It is worth doing it if you get rakeback? If you receive the bonus, how it affects your rakeback?
Thanks

I don't know about the bonuses that you buy with medals, but the year-end bonus does not hit your rakeback.

if i remember correctly any bonus u purchase wether its points thru blackcard or medals thru ironman your mgr will get hit. ie if u buy a $100 bonus u will get the $100 but u will recieve $27 less in rakeback so its really just a $73 bonus. but still its extra money and +ev

Hey
Verneer in ure latest video at the 51 min. mark tbl. 4, u have AQo and explains that u think AQs00ted would be an easy call, or fold, but AQo because its greater EV than calling. arent u basically turning AQ into a bluff? otherwise i dont understand why u prefer caling with AQs00ted??
i would verymuch appriciate if u could explain this hand a bit more..?
Keep up the good work!

Yes I am, but there is still a lot of value in the play.

Jan 31st Update:

Still no poker for me today - just a day with HEM running through filters, etc. Tomorrow it's back to grinding.

Verneer, how about your EV line?

I've played ~80K hands this month @NL10 and my EV line higher than green one on 150$. I play 70BB stack (7$). Today my BR was close to NL25, but another swing -65$ (EV -15) and I again have to lick my wounds @NL10

It's killing me

Hey Verneer,

I was wondering if you could recommend any good poker books on the micro cash games, full or short ring

Thanks!

I'm running 2% over EV which is pretty much right at EV. In general, my EV line is smoother than my actual winnigns:

Verneer,

I'm a winning 25NL rush FR player, but I'm having trouble making the transition to 50NL. I'm having trouble dealing with the more aggressive game. It seems like I'm either being 3bet or squeezed at every opportunity. I've started to 4 bet bluff more to combat the 3 betting. Any other general advice to deal with the aggression increase?

ive read that while most people with the same problem start 4b light, sometimes its best to tighten up your opening range when these villains are behind u. but being in rush and not having a specific villain at the same spot every hand i definetly see what u mean.

It's very player specific who I 4bet light. It's those players have have those really high 3bet% from the button and the blinds.

Hey Verneer,

Long time lurker here getting back into the game. I used to play a lot of limit and a little bit of no limit back when Party was still available to US players, but only been messing around here and there since then. This thread, and especially the 2010 thread have been an inspiration. Been spending a lot of time reading these threads and trying to actually apply what I'm learning. Got a few thousand hands in at Rush over the past couple days, and hopefully the early positive trend will continue.

Thanks again for doing this for the micro community.

this just proves to the bbv/unl heros with 10k posts that its not because they run bad and the games are too hard to start at the bottom that they are stuck there for years.

Tighten up your opening range in LP vs 3bet happy opponents. Widen your 3bet calling range (hands like AQ, KQs play very well in position, but also flat more with AA). Sometimes 4bet bluffing with a hand like AJo, KQo is profitable.
Most importantly: don't go out of your way to combat 3betting. Usually just fold. You'll get a lot of value with your big hands anyways.

At 50NL and especially at rush I found that it's key to save bets. Bets saved are just as important as bets won. Also you need to balance your checking ranges more. Merge in some stronger hands. Think of situations where usually your line doesn't win you the pot. Then take that line sometimes with strong hands. There is a lot of value in being deceptive at times and give your opponent a little rope to hang themselfs.

Milestone Update: $2,000

44 minutes into February and I'm already at my best day ever (+$177) and have breached an important challenge level: $2,000, effectively 10x-ing my initial bankroll.

It's likely that I will dip below this, but for now, it is what it is. I'm feeling good about this month.
