Right now it's mostly FR Rush with around 3K hands of 6-max Rush.

Been following this thread from the start i really enjoy seeing this, i have been playing poker for a few years and took a break and came back and been having trouble with the micro. You have given me more motivation to put in the work that i always new was needed to improve my game and cover up those leaks.

You mentioned you too a day break and that it was important to win when you came back to the tables, do you take day breaks very often? Do you think it is important to make sure you do every once and a while take a day off. What is your opinion when it comes to 'taking a week off'.

Heck, I think taking day breaks are great, or perhaps weekend breaks, week breaks, whatever you need to refocus and get back in it. I also think it reminds us that poker is not a sprint but a journey.

If your playing with the wrong mindset and in a particularly brutal downswing, sometimes the best thing you can do is just stop shoveling yourself deeper and stop playing for a little while, and go back and study and review your hands and watch videos at CR's and reevaluate your play. I do it all the time!

@verneer

2 questions.

1.) About how many hands should I have to accurately be able to make adjustments and identify leaks? Obv the more the better but about how many should I have if I am looking to get a coach and/or analyze my play?

2.) Are you currently accepting students? If so, where can I find more info?

And last, thanks for this thread. It is soo much help!

This is versus me. What makes you think I'm a nit? Your HUD is lying. I only flat because I think you fold every unpaired hand that I dominate to a 3bet. I'm not really concerned with you folding some low to mid pocket pairs since I have position and I'm assuming you'll x.f some boards with those as well. Did I, in your opinion, misplay this hand too?

This is a hand I played versus verneer last week. I'm curious why verneer chose to call my river bet? What hands do you beat by the river?

Not at all - I think you played it very well. Flatting the flop would have been fine as well.

Your milestone came through amazingly fast. Obv. I wish you best of luck on the challenge.

I watched some of your videos, and I can say, they are the best I've seen. Especially the last ones, where you give the viewer options for what to do in various controversial spots. Of course, nothing is perfect, but I think educational videos should not be about the instructor just playing a random 1 hour session, where he'll probably encounter 3 difficult spots, and all the other time he keeps saying that the rest is "standard", or "I have the nuts, I'm never folding" when he has TPTK.

Instead, you review your big hands, provide the details of the situation, expect the viewer to reach the decision by himself, and then provide a thorough analysis, with different scenarios for how the hand could have developed. This is how one can learn something.

Also, Verneer, I would like to ask you, how many hours a day do you play?
Do you play every day or do you have weekends?

Thanks! I've averaged 4.5 hours and 4,738 hands per day at the tables while taking one day off. I think the pace will subside in the next month or two.

Hey Verneer
love your work and such. I'm a long time losing micro stakes player/ winning 2/3 live player. (still, love the game and watching vids n reading about the strategy). Just wondering earlier in this thread, you mentioned how you were wondering if rush was the way to go or not.

sorry to hijack your thread like this :P just wondering if it would be better to play non rush games rather than rush? or do you think it doesnt matter so much as long as you apply yourself?

thanks in advance

nate.

Jan 17th Summary:

Played about 5K hands and won about a buy-in (running significantly over EV). Had really bad final session. I felt like most of the day I was playing robotically and just clicking buttons.

Time for a little reflection and to apply a few tweaks to my game. I'm just getting reamed w/o SD - a trend that continues to bother me.

Thanks Nate! You question whether Rush is better than non-rush is like asking if playing HU is better than FR. There is no right answer - play whatever fits your strengths and gives you the best chance at success.

I really don't understand villains line of play.
Spoiler:
Betting missed KJs in a multiway pot and calling 3bet?Turn call is also sick, what picture about you does he have to call with K high?
What can he represent here? T8 is an option to call in multiway, some fd is an option, and JJ+(don't know his stats)?

The SPR is so ugly for a conventional squeeze there. With 50bb you may as well jam AK preflop multiway.

Verneer!
Great thread, and an admirable cause. Also impressive progress, Congrats!
One question... earlier on in the thread you mentioned a weeks free CR membership as some reward for some fairly low volume achievement? Could you please give details of this offer???

It's not for me, as I earn enough FTPs to qualify for free CR membership, but a friend really wants to get into CR, and make use of the fantastic resource, but doesn't play enough at the moment.

Thanks in advance, and will be keeping track.
