Disagree strongly with above post. HavenÂ’t posted in years, but follow the pg&c threads and beez seems to have a really good head on his shoulders and is probably the most impressive poster IÂ’ve followed, from a poker success standpoint but much more importantly from a life outlook standpoint. From the jump his goal was to use poker as a launching pad for life, and he is honestly wrestling with the decision to jump to the next stage in a big world. Poker has nothing to do with what itÂ’s all aboutÂ…I read his last post as incredibly freeing and inspiring and I hope he follows through on what he says.

Beez - If you feel like youÂ’ve accomplished what you need to in poker, continue forward on your life journey. There is so much success ahead in life for a person like you. You play enough to know how much self awareness is tied to success in poker. Thank you for sharing honestly on here. My advice is listen to yourself. YouÂ’re feelings probably wonÂ’t change.

That said If itÂ’s any comfort, poker will be here, it will not have changed if you change your mind down the road and come back - and even if the game has changed youÂ’re smart enough to adapt if and when you do.

On the other hand, you’re probably in your late 20s, with a solid life roll to get started on living a very fulfilling life. You only live once - and you know how much time you’re spending “punching a clock” at this point. Take the above posters advice for what it’s worth if you want, and while your on a much deserved vacation….Spend some time thinking about what you want to be, the things you want to do and person you want to become and go after it aggressively. That how life winners play. Don’t get trapped. Dream big, way bigger than poker - you’ve easily earned that at this point.

My guess is if you do, you will be infinitely happier and healthier in the long run. You will look back fondly on your time in poker, maybe will play some big tourneys for fun, but will never return to the game. That to me sounds like real life success.

Best of luck and thank you for sharing your journey with us.

I will walk away with a material house and a network of friends of which ill cherish forever. i quit 5x thinking i couldn't get better and i returned each time hungrier ,stronger ,more focused. The Process was always more important then the bink at the end that will be the takeaway i leave my early/mid 20s with. 2024 is the year where 5 years of sacrifice realize the EV.

2: workout 5-6/days week [fail but started the framework to begin this]
3. Diet [2.5k cals/day] [fail but started the framework]

5. glasses/get eyes checked.
6. Get acne medication [I have very mild acne But want to deal with it.]

If I do not After Ireland start working out 5x/week I will personally freeroll Someone in my poker discord community into the wsop main event [33/33/33 33% to me 33% to him 33% to charity]

Last month I basically broke even which is deserved I studied probably 40-80 hours, I Played decent ran meh, I also sunran the first 1.5 months of year so no complaints.

Longterm goals:
Start reading more
Look more into buying a house post wsop
Achieve my physique goals
Increase my bb/100 winrate by 1bb

I hope that by the end of year
i've read 4-5 books [chronic pain hinders this alot]
Put myself in a spot to buy a house
Fixed my chronic back pain
added 10 lbs [currently 135~ looking to be 145-150~]
Increased my bb/100 by 1.

Plans for accomplishing long term goals:
Back pain:
Massage 3x/month
Physical therapy 2x/week
Workout 2x week
run/yoga/at home workout 1x-2x/week

Increase bb/100:
Use Dto every few months
Run hands through filters [study 3-4 hours/week this]
Hand historys 1-2/month~

Read:
Set aside time here and there to just sit and read.
I tried everything you tried and more for my back pain and nothing worked for 10 years or so, until i "discovered" walking. Try walking for 60-90 min every day and your back will be in a great shape. You can listen to an audio book while doing this.

3/3/24....
YTD Graph

Lost 40k live so im breakeven with live [went 0/18 live]
I have 2 horses. I put them in everything that's good Were turbo running this to legendary bankroll status.

Cooking:
Haven't cooked new dishes but will experiment more post wsop~ this year. [will use chatgpt to make unique dishes]

House:
hoping to go on a massive upswing and buy one close to a major airport [30mins or so drive to airport] in next 6-9 months the downswing has slowed this down.

5~ month progress picture:

Music Vibe:

Conclusion:
Life is a journey. Growth occurs in the times of which you take on the most pain and stress. Always take on more pain then you think you can handle if you wish to grow the most. I plan on getting to 175-180~ lbs working out. I plan on playing ALOT OF LIVE NEXT YEAR AND SECURING A MILLION DOLLAR BINK TO TOP THIS THREAD OFF. Wrote this post and cameback cause i found the progress to be therapeutic and documenting will be something i look back on fondly. Brothers adjusting well and going to gym with me he just reached unreal in Fortnite. I still do plan on leaving full time grinding in the coming 18-24 month~ assuming things go to plan. Currently Focusing on Consciousness and being present well playing. Ill see you all around late june for a update.

Welcome back Beez! I have enjoyed your thread immensely and have read through it several times. I know you have struggled with back pain for quite some time. I myself am in a lot of pain. Could you describe what has worked for you in regards to relieving your back pain? I would really appreciate it.

Thank you and I wish you continued success with poker.

Nice update. Do you try and be strategic about managing the risks of a decently big losing year and not being able to carry losses forward tax wise? That seems like one of the more annoying risks of being an mtt pro especially if firing a bunch of live 10k/25ks.

I make alot of rakeback+live in a regulated fenced in pool + grind alot of volume so those allow me to reduce the stress on that end of things. [I estimate i make 100-150 a year variance free]

"It is not the mountain ahead that stops most journeys but the pebble in ones shoe."

I've finally self educated enough and am in the full process of removing the pain in my back and leg. I now strength train 4x/week + stretch 6x-7x/week. Soon adding in yoga and cardio. I recommend if your motivated by my success in poker you take physical health serious. Physical health>financial success.

Cliffnotes about stretching/strength training:

Stretching increases pain tolerance!
Muscle building increases pain tolerance!
You have a thin web layering your skin called fascia fascia can become tight and responds/reworks itself when you stretch/muscles... fascia tells your body whether you should feel pain or not.

Routine: Monday/tuesday/wednesday/friday/saturday~
Wake up 12:00
Stretch 12:30-1:30 [Run hrc/icm sims during this time]
1:30-2:00 cook breakfast
2-3:00 Study Postflop spots i'm targeting [flop/turn, Deepstack, Bvb.... etc]
3:00-5:00 Gym
7:30-1 play poker
1-2 stretch/study/chill

Thursday/sunday
12-12 play
12-1 [stretch]
1-2 study [or wait till next day depending on energy level I try to study atleast every 2-3 days and spend a hour cleaning up past days]

Stretches: Strongly recommend you try the hip flexor one
