Congrats on the ring!

Interesting to hear that you would prefer cash over tournies if you could start over.
I think there is some effect of "grass is always greener somewhere else" or whatever the exact saying is.

Looking from PLO perspective, it seems all the money is in tournaments. Sure the low stakes games always run, but even PLO200 does not run around the clock. So basically starting already from PLO200 you have to play during good hours only or go to apps etc. Rake on GG is absurd starting from plo 200 as well.
Tournaments on the other hand run all the time with all kind of buy ins.

I have been slowly trying to learn NL tournaments, but it is such a daunting task. It looks all so easy when somebody good is explaining things, but to actually get to a decent level yourself just seems absurd amount of work. All the different stack sizes etc.

Any suggestions what points to focus most on? I guess shorter stack play?

Man that's a big swing, but crazy to think just 1.5 years ago, satelliting into the Venom each month was your goal and now you are firing 5 bullets in a smaller, less soft $2650.

That's to say, I definitely echo the sentiment that this thread--especially given that coming up is harder now than ever and only getting harder--is super underappreciated.

Really great work man. GL

The Greatest year of my career has come to a end... I'll probably play 2-4 more days but heres my end results for the fans

Expected year:

This is what i expected to make this year^ 340k. I did good making a 70% ci number though 200k~

The ugly:
I am ending the year on a 100k downer [the biggest of my career]
I lost the most money i've ever lost 2 weeks ago in 32k on one sunday.

The good
I wanted to stake 1.5m this year and 2.5m next.... I staked 2.5m this year and will take 3-4m next year.

I've networked in poker and now have a community of diverse levels.
I've moved out on my own and live in a regulated state that drastically reduces variance.
I made 200k~ this year.

The future:
Will be playing 4-5 nights/week [50k/week staked~] 500 tourneys/week
Will be going to vegas for the 10k main and probably 25k highroller.
Will play 50 2650 bullets on acr next year.
Will study 5-10 hours week intensely.
Will get Mri on back and keep trying to heal my back.

Expected results next year:

Fantastic results. Congrats! If you don't mind entertaining a few questions:

Are regulated US pools just a lot better than bovada/acr in field softness?
Do you have any idea what kind of ROIs the top crushers with similar volume and stakes are getting?
Are you pretty near the peak ROI that can be reasonably sustained?
Any tournament player out there you try to model yourself after or that has offered you the most inspiration?

Thanks. Great thread!

Are you pretty near the peak ROI that can be reasonably sustained? No. I think im near peak hourly though. I think i can increase roi 5-10% if i do a few things differently.
Any tournament player out there you try to model yourself after or that has offered you the most inspiration? Linuslove/ I merely formed my own style but linus is my inspiration.

Thanks. Great thread!
thanks for reading. the road to 1m begins today.

40 2650s were played last year.

Hate to sound contrarian but I actually think it is easier in some ways.

Yes, the games are slightly tougher but the tools to improve are way more accessible for anyone who is willing to work hard

Great thread. I'm following. I'm currently playing microstakes mtts and building my BR.

I like how you set goals and habits. I have a similar mindset. I'm guessing you've already read it, but just in case - Have you read "Atomic Habits" by James Clear? Excellent book.

Sick goals and read. Curious about the exit plan. You’re going to looo into it after completing this year of goals?7

Is there an amount it money you want to start your exit on?

What are your reasons for wanting an exit?

Hey man, absolutely epic thread! This thread from the beginning has been a testament to never give up on something. There were countless times throughout where you could have thrown in the towel, but you kept coming back for more. Your work ethic is something that should motivate everyone. Congrats to you! I have enjoyed following immensely.
