Quick background: I've made 1 or 2 Poker Blogs/Goals here in the past but I never really went anywhere with it for 1 main reason. I always end up cashing out!

So I'm creating this blog to help keep me in check. And since I won't be cashing out, I might as well make it a bankroll challenge while I'm at it. I suppose an end goal of sorts will be running it up to a decent amount, enough to finally play respectable stakes. I always treated this as a hobby depositing $20 and playing micros or low stakes MTTs and anytime my roll got to $100 or $200 I would cash out. So I want to see how far I can really go. I'd like to eventually play $1/$2 Big O or $3/$6 FLO8. If I can get to those stakes just on my ability alone by running it up I'd consider this a success.

I'll be playing on WPN (BCP), and SWC mainly. And the games I'll be spending most of my time on are Big O and PLO8/NLO8 MTTs since I can get nonstop action on those variants on WPN. From time to time I'll play some other games on SWC if I get any action. My favorite (and strongest) games are razz & triple draw so if I can get action in those variants on SWC, I'll document it. I've done really well playing drawmaha on SWC and there are a lot of people playing that game on there so expect some of that as well

I won't be setting any specific goals like playing "x" amount of hands or playing "x" amount of tournaments. I've noticed those types of goals are never really fun after a certain amount of time so I'm going to keep it real basic with this one. Mostly just bankroll progression updates + hand histories.

So the end/main goal: Just play my best and try to run it up AND do NOT CASH OUT (Unless it's to transfer money around to other sites).

Ps.
I will be starting at the very bottom. Deposit $10 and try running it up as much as I can. So for now any updates will mostly be cash games playing $0.01/$0.02 Big O and $0.55 and $1.00 MTTs (PLO8, NLO8, and Big O. Turbos & PKOs).

Current Bankroll: $16.44

Thanks!

Lost my roll on WPN trying to run it up on MTTs...playing $5 and $3 HiLo tournies...just wanted to get to better stakes cuz playing 1c/2c cash tables was getting boring (I probably should have stuck with it cuz anytime my roll got under $5 i would run it back up to about $10-15 playing 1c/2c Big O and then I would register for $5.50 MTTs and it didnt work out)

I do have $20 on Ignition so lets see if $0.02/$0.05 PLO8 Cash games will be more "REWARDING"

Hand histories incoming!

Ps.
I am okay with depositing, just don't want to cash out :P

So If I have to deposit $20 every week on WPN to try and bink a $5.50 Stud8 or $5.50 PLO8 or the $6.60 NLO8 PKO so be it!

got 2nd place for 180 chips (approx $12) on SWC in a NLHE tournament...

Bankroll is at $17 there now...

Still have about $19 on Ignition after going up and down, up and down past few days playing PLO.

Ignition PLO can be super high variance when everybody calls my open raises preflop and 3 people end up being calling stations all the way to the river

They say WPN is a reg fest and the hardest of all US poker sites but at least people fold on there...

played a 3 hour 9-game session this morning on SWC. In for approx 80 chips and out for 280 (18 USD)

Now playing 0.25/0.50 Drawmaha which is about 0.01/0.03

Here's a good tip i learned about Drawmaha...always try to make your holding a good premium hand...the community hand is something that should come second to your holding..

Case in point i had pocket 9s holding 9934K. (K9 are club club)

Button raises pot (1.25) and everyone folds and I call.

Flop comes Ad 2c 4c.

Button bets 2 chips (pot is 5.50)...i call..

I toss out the king of clubs and get a 5c giving me a holding of pocket 9s and a straight on the board (my holding is now 99543)

Turn is a Ac

Button bets 4 chips and I call.

River is a blank 8 of spades. Button bets 14.88 and I call and he scoops the pot with a boat on the board and he also has pocket queens beating my pocket 99s. (His holding was AQQ83 with Q8 of clubs)

And in another hand I was dealt a made straight and 2 other people raised and reraised and I jammed all in and they called....it was my straight vs Trip Aces vs Trip 10s. Board was giving me a gut shot and top 2 pair but I bricked out but still won half of the pot with my straight

SWC Bankroll - 330 chips ($22)

Ignition - $20

Ps.
Will be depositing $15 on WPN tomorrow so I can play the $5.50 stud 8 MTT. If I don't need to use the other 2 bullets I'll save the $10 for another 5.50 MTT maybe the $750 PLO8 PKO or the $6.60 NLO8 PKO

Note to self:
Even though everyone calls an open raise on ignition PLO, continue betting/barreling to fold out equity from potential flushes and straights and other implied odds on the river from other players!!

Getting 1 too many callers on ignition PLO that it's making things very swingy for me!

Forgot to open the hand replayer before leaving the table I was at so i could record the hand history on SWC...

Anyways, I played about 50 hands of 1/2 6card PLO Hi/Lo just now on SWC which is a bit too high for me but i managed to almost double up.

I had a weak flush and the nut low (A2) and villain only had the nut low so I was able to quarter him when he went all in.

In for 200 ($13.19) out for 350 chips ($23.08)

SWC Bankroll: 474.62 chips ($31.30)

Ignition: $21

My SWC roll took a big hit when I tried to play super high stakes (relative to what i usually play..i usually 0.25/0.50 and i tried to play 2/4) tried playing 2/4 6 card PLO....went all in on with top set and villain got runner runner to hit a straight...typical.

Good thing my SWC roll is what i consider a backup roll, something I just have when I occasionally get to play my favorite games, razz & 2-7 triple draw and when I like to gamble a bit and try to run it up

My main roll on ignition however is still going strong.

For the past 2-3 days it's been up and down, up and down going from $25 to $20 to $29 to $24, etc etc...

Found some soft tables playing PLO and now my roll is at $38!

SWC roll is at 200 chips tho. It's okay tho if I want to play some mix games I'll make a deposit sometime down the roll but my next deposit will be on ACR/WPN so I can start playing some Big O.

Ps.

I've had some good success playing PLO8 sit n goes but they kinda suck in value. You literally have to win 1st place to make a decent ROI because 2nd place only doubles you up.

Check out this screenshot...I think I'm just gonna stick to cash cuz playing $1 sit n goes on ignition is just not worth the time, even if they are turbo sit n goes:

Binked a $1 $200 GTD PLO8 MTT just now! (Well I made a deal which got me $48 and 2nd place got $42)

Deposited $10 earlier today on WPN/BCP so I could start playing some more Stud/8 and PLO8/NLO8/Big O MTTs like I said I would in my 1st post. Also because traffic is not that great on ignition sometimes. Mostly just PLO.

Anyway, I max late regged the $1 PLO8 MTT and chipped my way up from 12bbs to the final table. A few times I got back under 10BBs but PLO8 is pretty soft on WPN/ACR/BCP and managed to win some all ins whenever I got pocket aces. Also ran pretty well, got pocket aces and hit lots of a-5 straights.

Final Table I had 80% of the chips and probably could have played it out but the tourny had been running for almost 8 hours and I was getting pretty tired. No need to play it out for an extra few dollars.

WPN Bankroll is now at $60.87
Ignition - $32
SWC - $15

CO, Hero, and SB call.

Flop (155BB): 9h 8h 5d

SB goes all in for his last 10BBs, CO calls, Hero jams all in for his remaining stack of 59.5BB, CO calls.

Another fun hand, nothing really of value or to be learned tho just a fun hand i got after i had a hard time going to sleep so figured I'd play a quick session of HUPLO (much prefer HU over 6max but it's pretty hard to find only 1 player at a 6max table on WPN for long, it usually fills up at the micros)

HU $0.01/$0.02 PLO

Hero (116BB stack) open raises (3BBs), villain (107BB stack) 3bets (9BBs), Hero Calls.

Flop (17.5BBs): 5d 5h 7h
Villain bets 12BBs, Hero calls.

Turn (40BBs): 6h
Villain Bets 27BBs, Hero calls.

River (91.5BBs): Qh
Villain goes all in (59Bbs), Hero calls.

Spoiler:
Results:

Villain shows: Ac Jh Ts 8s (Ace high, loses)
Hero shows: Jc 4h 3c 3h (Straight flush, wins $4.07)
Rake: $0.41 (rake is brutal now that I think about it. 20BBs

This player was actually pretty good for the micros and looking at the hand he showed, it seems to be decent bluff candiate with the blockers he had but I started over folding a bit (mostly due to a lack of hands) and I guess I just caught him at the right time considering I also got lucky with the hand I was dealt)

Took a shot at $0.05/0.$0.10 Big O.

Big hand of the session. VERY disappointed in how I played it.. I'm 90% sure I missed out on A LOT of value. Spoiler Alert, I won the hand but I could have won much more. Here it is:

Dealt to HERO (103.4BB) in the CO: Qd Qh 8d 8c 7d
BB (602.6BB stack) raises (6BB), UTG (103.4BB stack), Hero (103.4BB stack) & BTN (142BB stack) call. SB folds.

Flop (23.8BB): Qs 3s 2d
BB checks, UTG checks, Hero & BTN check.

Turn (23.8BB): 2h
BB bets 25BB. UTG folds, HERO & BTN call.

River (95BB): Jd
BB checks, Hero bets 25BB. BTN & BB call.

Results:
BB Shows: Ad Ah Kd 7c 2c (Trips 222. Loses)
BTN Shows: Js 6d 5c 2s 4c (Full house J222. Loses)
Hero Shows: Qd Qh 8d 8c 7d (Full house QQ222. Wins 166.3BB/ $16.33)

The reason I bet out 25bbs on a 95bb pot was because I was trying to find a sizing that would get called by at least 1 player, expecting the other person to fold. But I was a bit nitty this game due to me taking a shot. I didnt think until after the hand that someone holding a 2 was very likely.

This is a problem I have. I play way to fast, even at stakes im comfortable with not really going over proper ranges. I need to fix this going forward as I probably could have bet at least 50BBs or even pot and would have gotten a call.

Wanted to post this hand I just played at $0.01/$0.02 Big O. People really overestimate A2 and/or don't know they get quartered if someone else has A2 with a hi

https://play.blackchippoker.eu/onlin...a77d16df199da9

And now just two hands later. Massive 528BB ($10.56) pot I was in holding pocket aces and flopping top set with everyone going all in on the flop:

https://play.blackchippoker.eu/onlin...a77d16df199da9

EDIT:
Lol just a couple hands later and again I'm in another big pot (218BBs) where someone is overplaying the nut low in Big O. I have notes on so many players noting "overplays nut low with no accompanying hi hand..value bet them when you have nut low + nut his):

Posted this in another thread and would like to save it here as a type of journal entry:

Its regarding how people study NLHE and if it's better to study more then play. This was my opinion for "MY" poker journey:

Quote:
I dont play NLHE, just mixed games.

I prefer to play 90% and study 10%. I think adjusting to 70/30 would be better but it's hard to study various games. The bulk of my earnings comes from omaha variants though (PLO, PLO8, NLO8, and Big O).

And studying is a bit complicated. I would need a programmer to code a custom solver for all the important variants if I wanted to turn pro (one for draw, one for stud8, one for Big O but I'm not rich so thats not going to happen. And besides, those games do not run often enough at high stakes to make it a worthwhile investment. My best bet is using ProPokerTool Odds Oracle in conjunction with going over my hand histories).

The only game that I should and will start studying more is PLO because I can earn the most if I progress in that variant. And with PLO I'd say studying 40% and playing 60% of the time in the beginning would be optimal. Then grind and play more mid stakes. If i ever reach relatively high stakes, such as $10/20 or $25/$50+ I think i would have to revert back to 60% play and 40% study so I dont fall behind other players at those stakes. Plus, GTO & exploitable tendencies become much more vital at those stakes I think.

These are just assumptions however and more of a road map for if I ever try to go "pro".
Anyways, I'm going to be calling it a day. I played some big pots today and won a big one ($16) at stakes I don't usually play but quit not too long after winning it lol. I'm close to $100. Going to focus the next few weeks and make it a mission to escape these damn microstakes! $0.25/0.50 here I come!

WPN/BCP Bankroll: $60.87 > $73.15

I took a serious beating at the $0.10/$0.20 Stud 8 tables yesterday. It was brutal. I think I literally only won a couple hands, definitely no more then 20-30 hands out of about 400 hands.

I also suspected collusion going on. It was either that or maybe since I was playing micros, 8 handed the tables were just filled with aggressive fish that caused the variance to go up dramatically.

So many hands getting outclassed by them making a better hand on 7th and always running into a better 2 pair or better full house.

I ran into a better full house multiple times.

Not only that but I also ran so bad. I couldn't keep track of how many flushes and open ended straight draws that missed. I had hands like Ad2d3d that ended up either turning into A234KQT and hands that ended up like Ad 2d 3d 4d As Js. I can also clearly remember not even making a pair lol

I will admit some hands I played very aggressive raising and capping but I did only to try and build the pot and claw back some of my winnings and I made sure to only do that with very powerful hands like A23/246/AA2 hands but every time I capped a hand I lost. EVERY SINGLE TIME. This is not an exaggeration.

Lost about $16

Playing a sessions right now, 5 handed and I'm finally doing much better. I'm up $7.

Stud is my worst game but I hope to get better because $0.40/$0.80 runs almost daily and I think I can build my roll really fast playing those stakes.

Prepare for some incoming stud/8 hands to be posted

24-6r isnt as good as the other two hands.

How fast did people play? If they didnt timebank 3rd a lot, i dont think its collusion.

Looking forward to see some Stud8 hands.
A Mixed Game Bankroll Challenge Quote

yah maybe not collusion and instead just players trying to raise and cap (a few of them would cap with a 9 door card) which caused the variance to go up. Some of them seemed to be on tilt capping on 3rd or 5th street and end up folding later in the hand.

When the table was full is when I started to lose more and more. Once a few players left and it was down to about 5-6 is when I would start to finally win.

Still recovering from that brutal stud8 session I played a few days ago.

I've hidden my bankroll on WPN because I noticed myself looking at it too much and want to try playing without worrying if I am up or down after each session.

I'll post bankroll updates once a week or after a big score.

Also some general updates:

1. I'm going to switch over to mostly 4-max tables for 5 card PLO. Hopefully this will bring down the variance factor associated with 5 cards lol. For Big O I will keep playing 6max.

2. I also want to start keeping track of my sessions, taking better notes, and want to give huds a try. I always hated huds but I'm starting to run into some regulars and I think having stats on them will come in handy. Also I'll finally be able to easily post hands here with graphics and extra info. So I'll be ordering DriveHud tomorrow.

3. Start reviewing Big O/5card PLO and Stud 8 hands, especially pots that were over 50BBs in Big O and stud 8 hands that are over 10 Big Bets.
