All swings I mentioned are POST rb. I was never talking about any "pre rb swing." What kind of swing is that?

To count it in pre-rb is silly. What if your EV is less than 0% pre rb? Say it was -1%. So you would "swing" 400k? That's not a swing if you are up 600k.

--
Edit: a -1% prerb roi player that plays 300s will *on average* have a worst experience of a 75k postrb swing if they play 75k games, and a 100k post rb swing if they play 150k games. (rough envelope calculation, too lazy to sim.) Point is, risks are real.

Not to hate, but it sounds like you didn't even think 100k post rb was a reality, so I don't know what to think, kind of shocked you assumed I was talking pre rb. Maybe Zima knows haha

You're crazy.

Watching someone make SNE in 1.5 months is one thing, but to watch them repeat it 8 times for the next 12 months is another level of sickness.

GL OP!

Do/will your friends and family know about this challenge? What are their views on this? How/what will you eat during this time?

My eating habits are formed under this principle: raw fruits, raw vegetables, raw meats. Of course that is an ideal and it is hard to get raw meats. But lightly cooked and stuff, for example chicken (no oil or butter etc. in the cooking)

I moved back in and am living with my parents who support me and are a big asset, so that I can just focus on playing. This made the most sense considering how little I will be going outside. I think if I lived alone this would be impossible without hiring a bunch of people.

Also my mom is a world class chef, and I don't mean "my mom makes the best oatmeal cookies" or some bs. She can taste any dish, eg. a soup and tell you every ingredient right down to individual spices and msg and whatnot; then recreate it in the kitchen.

Since I have strict eating habits (I try to avoid sat fats, carbs, etc.), having a guru in the kitchen is a big asset to making things healthy AND tasty.

Also one of my favorite foods is nam phrik, which is various varieties of fluid chili eaten with raw or lightly cooked vegetables [and sometimes meats or shrimp etc]. These dips are basically the only dips for vegetables I know of that aren't unhealthy as ****. It would be very hard to buy/make this unless I hire a personal chef and tell him the recipes.

To be honest, I have no friends. I was kind of hoping to make some, haha.

ik your set on your plans but i cant help but feel like if you aimed slightly lower and gave yourself more breathing space things would work out 10x better... like if you gave yourself 3 weeks over the course of the year to do anything you want, even if its just taking 1 day off and relaxing.

do you have any non-poker goals for 2013? i take it youll be excersizing regulalrly as well? 20 mins on a treadmill/day or smthing? Might be a good idea to incorparate waking up and going for a 15 minute running or w/e, staying inside all day every day is really realyl bad.

awesome thread man.

I don't care anymore about why. All I'm thinking about is Vegas and the f***ing Mirage. Here, the Mirage is a million dollars. I don't want to count my chickens, but I really hope I don't fail at this goal. After this, I plan to leave poker, and use that money to help build the company I am in. I work in a company with 4 other people from MIT, making a videogame. Part of the reason I really want to do this is because all of the other 4 members are smarter than me -- the team is really solid and I feel really lucky to get "in on the ground floor" on something amazing. I've realized, like many other people (strassa comes to mind), that poker is not the true endgame. To win at poker is to not have to play. At least, for me. It depends who you are and what you have a chance of doing
u had me at this.

I agree that this goal isn't ideal, and it is a poor choice at best for things like being happy and etc. So it is in fact "wasting one's life." I don't really have a response to this point but I agree in the sense that you mean it in.

The quote i posted before this basically answers this quote imo. It's more of a means to an end.
Make money now, make up for life later.

I'm not sure how many hours this is playing or anything. I just think that if you don't take any days off this is surely impossible.

Either way I'm looking forward to railing .

Yeah definitely, I play poker for a living and live alone, and cooking is the biggest problem for me.

IMO, to be honest, most people who do great things have to give up a lot.

After you do this challenge, you should definitely relax a little though, a lot of your posts seem quite a bit too serious hah.

GL again.

Reading this thread I seriously am not suprised you have no friends.

Also, the "work" you did for the forum representing cash game players was a catastrophe.

That is all.

Have I read correctly that the biggest rake in a single year on PS prior to your attempt is $590k? so to succeed you would need to put ~125% on top of that? Wow.

You mind if I dig into your motives a little more? (don't want to to think anything is me being harsh I wish you luck I'm just interested) just a little confusing you said money is irrelevant, but that this task was majority money motivated?

I'm kinda reading it like you're not particularly "money-driven" but you just wanna lock yourself away for a year, make $1m and then gtfo and do something that you consider more fulfilling?

You're giving up a LOT for this challenge, practically no social life, moving back to your parents, I guess I just can't see what's REALLY driven you to attempt this, maybe you've said it and i've missed it, or you've kept some parts of the real reasons private (either would be reasonable)

Either way it's a massive challenge you've set yourself, I wish you all the best (and I never post on here!)

Im rooting for you to start off with a bit of a heater, will be really good for your general morale and will make the first two nasty Downswings way easier to cope with

gogogo
