I'm a returning poker player that is looking to study and learn the game seriously for the first time. I've began playing poker recreationally when I was in high school (I'm ~30 years old now) and a little bit in college but to be honest really learned how to play based on intuition and lots of hours of gameplay many years ago. That said, looking at the current landscape, I realize how behind I am and how little I actually know from a theory stand point. Life and job took precedence in my 20s over poker so have not ever had the chance to play for extended periods of time.

I WFH 3 days a week from my corporate job so have more time to spend studying and playing than I did in the past. I also have a new found passion for the game as well and again my life is set up in such a way that I can devote time to this.

I recently started playing MTTs in Aug/September and things have gone extremely well--almost too well. I'll admit that I sun ran in a lot of tournaments. I am up around $55K thanks to a couple large scores. I play on Ignition, ACR, Chico, and Global.

Anybody have any suggestions to begin studying? I've never used a solver and am a bit intimidated by it all so thinking maybe I should get a coach to walk me through a lot of it.

Will try to post weekly updates and would love to add some folks on discord to commiserate/run spots by.

For MTTs I think developing a solid 20BB and below games is essential as this is likely where your money will come from.Considering a solver in your arsenal is a great idea, There are plenty of helpful YouTube tutorials explaining how to effectively integrate it into your play rather than getting a coach to show you how to use one. Could save the coaching for actual poker coaching once you have become familiar with the solver.

Running really bad lately, losing so many high leverage hands deep in tournaments with favorites...what can you do. Had several absurdly deep runs on sunday with little to show for it. Adjusting my game a little to be more aggressive. I've been a little gun shy lately with how many bad beats I've had and have been too passive/scared to rip it in.
