Covid is bad. Not sure when will the end to this pandemic come but not anytime soon. Healthy young people getting hospitalized with Indian variant and the old are dieing. Far are the days when this was beginning and a guy from Belgium (who knew everything) told me at a beach bar in Boracay Island that Covid is a hoax.

Best is to not say too much and better is to not make too many posts. Alcohol I've stopped already using.

Another good day, 5 hours grind and exercise done, added +5min to run, still very high HR but did again in the heat (was a bit bad sleep so didn't do in the morning). I guesstimate 1-2 weeks for body to get used to heat and getting to run in moderate pace with a usual 145-160HR for 40min+ daily. This is a goal to reach and to get there I will run every day I can for 25-35mins in low pace (letting body adjust) . Getting to do 45min+ cardio daily is something that does wonders to body and mind.

Ordered some lunch when grinding from a Korean kitchen and didn't really look at what I'm getting, it came up being some spicy noodles with dried fish things and fish eggs + some a bit strange tunaroll. I've been adventurous with foods past days, no big disappointments but neither anything spectacular so far.

Poker going good, managed to do 3 things yesterday which I necessarily didn't wanted to do but which I knew were important things to do. I think to maintain & develop good habits it's important to get stuff done even if not feeling like doing much. There is basically no escapes when it comes down to consistency (can procrastinate and say will do tomorrow etc. ) but changes are tomorrow it feels not very different / there is already other things to get done. With some errands delegating / using online services can be helpful but it's certainly a two sided thing as the more lazy one gets with lifestyle in generally the more it feels like shining in other areas too and vice versa.

A bit of a low energy stretch in life so focusing to ensure eating a healthy diet, getting exercise and good sleep and drinking less alcohol . My alcohol usage changed after worked a lot on it , enjoying beer nowadays sometimes and not feeling the craving for getting drunk if I drink a bit anymore. I think addictions are heavily just psychological issues which are causes of some ill thought processes, which we are giving ourselves a change to follow , basically just being strongly on a track of subconscious incompetence (as there is the obvious reward of watching porn, smoking cigarettes / getting drunk too often or something else) and a person with a certain addiction refuses to start the work on getting into longer periods without usage, because addictive things are addictive for a reason, they are fun, secondly they stop being so much fun after it gets bad and the third point is when having lost self-belief on being able to stop with it and at same time the temptation to get that "easy escape" with using a substance is there (but not too rewarding anymore as brain adjusted and higher dosage is needed) these things basically mean people who struggle with addiction are lots of times unable to recover without going through some treatment (good for business) even the answers would have been there already. Something that got my process actually started was watching some David Goggin's video where he said "there is no escapes in your life". Not sure how much I like David Goggin's in general , feels a bit extreme guy and I try to not be very extreme person as easily getting carried away with things , however I think that sentence is pure gold because it's very true . Thinking of it a lot brings to realization that everything one does has it's consequences and there is not much of a way to cheat with that. Eat unhealthy -> gain weight, drink too much -> mess your life, Etc. So it's much better to accept life being bit boring and try to live on moderation and have less negative addictions .

Nothing really stops in one finger click so I try to still be accountable and careful with things , added +5 min to run yesterday and HR was more at comfortable area , (bit colder day), looking to add a bit more to it today also so soon reaching 40min+ area of cardio daily again.

People are different , something works for someone and for someone else works nothing, can only talk of personal experiences and they are also coming in a form of a success story because it's healthy minded and natural way to look at stuff afterwards.

Hey Kiljusieppo, enjoying your thread and looking forward to following along.
Have seen ya in the 500z streets when the pool is small (like 12-15 players).
Are you pretty comfortable playing at any point regardless of how the pool looks?
I don’t have the same concern in the zoom pools I’m playing in as there’s very seldom less than 80-90 players at my stakes, and I (maybe incorrectly) think I’m generally +EV.
Just interested in how you feel that changes at the higher stakes during off hours when the players are at a much higher level.

The size does not matter all that much (mostly the biggest downside of small pool is getting hands slower), what matters is the reg/rec. ratio . I don't play very tough pools from my current time zone but was playing when in Finland this year and was having low winrate (if any) & big swings indeed.

This being said , jumping into smaller zoom pools certainly means you are getting lots more hands against same players and if there are guys who have an edge over you it can turn against you quite badly (I'm sure I was leaking lot's in this kind of circumstance like 2 years ago to couple guys , but luckily have had it the other way around also and ofc. improved quite a lot over time )).

Life is good.

Day-off with grinds so was running at 10am, much more comfortable temperature outdoors, meaning did a light 4km in 30min (still in way lower pace than I averaged when did run 100km overall last month). Speaking of my physical shape and comparing to the start of this year I have improved a ton. Was weighting 100kg and just living very unhealthy and being unfit. Currently at around 94kg and relatively fit.

Finding the motivation to start doing an early run before grind is something I look forward finding.

In the future I'll try to discuss a bit asset allocation and investing in generally, (something important to look to understand better as being still on early path with that journey) currently on board with crypto and china stocks + some European real-estate stocks and index funds to lower risks .

Thinking bit much so trying to save readers from labyrinthine thoughts.

Dude, take us to the mind labyrinth anytime. I’m sure anyone reading here would enjoy going down the rabbit hole with you on various topics.
And thx for your answer to my question, I’m actually surprised that there’d be a few recs in a short 12-15 500z pool, but of course you’d know better than myself.
Been finding it easier to get back in shape myself lately too. It’s easier the more you keep at it I find.

Thanks for the encouragement!

Consistency is the key with exercise. I took two day's off from poker (trying to keep taking it every week).

Had a guy fixing AC the other day, he took two hours, broke his feet to his own ladder and I gave him band aid twice, other band aid was found glued to the AC after he left. We were informed later things didn't work out and he needs to come again, therefore yesterday we had an army of teenager thai kids laughing, talking loud, filming the pool (and fixing AC for 2 hours) but leaving it with very noisy sounds after being here for two hours again,. Today we are supposed to be having someone coming over again and I'm just not sure what to expect, lol. Small things and just quite whatever though but can't just really always run good everywhere .

Not the most focused with grind today, went through some hands and found some small stuff to do better. Easy to forget and get a bit rusty when not constantly playing around with solver . To improve my game I would need to study again strategies in lot more detail more than just looking at hands. Have that and few other things on my head as something I will just be having to do in near future . Temporary laziness is less dangerous than many other things and ways to think of stuff though .

I've kept up with exercise and diet somewhat well , just adding meditation again soon and starting to do some breathwork + just studying more strategies and not only running some hands I will have my "Midas Touch" right there . So I lay that as a goal with acceptance of it taking quite some time to have it all clicking into the routine sustainably.

...

We've been looking at villas for rent in Koh Samui , found few very nice candidates . Looking forward to move there in October .

Today rainy day, jumped late from bed to play without even brushing my teeth. It was probably best thing to do as the time window for having the action isn't way too large.

+18k in profits this month, bonuses included. Was a bit of a bumpy ride . 2nd 5 number month in a row which feels well deserved after some struggles.

I was at 0. around july and volume played was fairly large. Some quite heavy life-tilt early this year (excellent january +33k in profits, then lost it all and had some irl. stuff) ... ended going all the way down to nl100 to regain confidence and worked on my game. Together with crypto & other investments + poker I have still profited around 70k this year so far so happy with the results after all.

Had a fun hand today where I ended calling river with a turn bluff :

Life tilt and downswings always seem to correlate for me.
Pretty sure the downswing usually starts shortly after the life tilt.
Been realizing the last couple years how much I need to focus on that.
Enjoy your brag beerz when ya can.

Life-tilt is the animal . It took a lot of time for me to realize, it don't help to be perfectionistic with diet / exercise whatsoever if I'm not mostly enjoying what I'm doing . Ego is something dangerous . Wild f**uking animal . Give up on it for some part and end feeling like having next to no desire to do much, but if give it the keys then one can really go far to madness.

Do people really change? No I think I'm the same ego-centered , crazy competitive guy with alcohol addiction . Just having acceptance makes a huge difference .

It's a good one , but have to keep in mind Thailand is very big country and you can find disgusting scandals nearly everywhere in this world .

Did I change to better? This is question of if we want to measure a person by his/ she's habits , outcomes and actions or not?

Can a person be measured?

Only if taking them to the scale.
