Up 540 today after a quick 3 hour sesh of 1/3 at Cowboys. Bought gourmet desserts Caramelized Canelés and Lamb Shepard's pie, Beet Salad. Ship high quality healthy meals to fuel further success payed for by poker haha. Got big goals gonna read how to develop social skills and use that meet people and have adventures. Anyways onto the only hand I played that netted me 500$ in one hand. 5 ways to the flop I call with 6s7s 12$ from the BB. Flop 6c2s3s MP bets 30$ out of turn loose agro boisterous player that ran up his stack 1000 in 15 min at start of session but stack was dwindling. Still had me covered I had 450$. I cbet 15 simultaneously player on my left calls. lp calls 30 other lp folds. Here's where I get inventive. Raise 200 into the committed raise with top pair flush re draw and 150$pot so 133% pot sized bet. Alot of hemming and hawwing and everyone else folds to mp gambling guy he of course calls, before the cards can be dealt out I shove the rest (250) in blind and he calls blind and asks to run it twice I know my best shot at winning it all is once so decline, turn 6 giving us two pair river off suit 10 we scoop huge. Time to study more. meditate keep the momentum going baby! The only reason I raised so aggressively was from pattern recognition and intuition that I was in run good mode. after folding countless hands for 3 hours starting to connect with flops and pick up stronger hole cards. It's hard to explain exactly why but I just knew he would be looking to gamble and gave him a chance to win back all the money he was bleeding out.

well a hit a god awful session, started up 330 and ended down 700 a full 1030 downswing in 5 hours.
I thought I was playing well B+ at least, maybe over folding certain dry flops oop to a cbet or turn bet. but It was nothing significant that lead the the loss.
one hand utg raises 3xbb mp calls I call in big blind 34c. flop 432 utg omc says take it bets 30bb folds to me I call. He has QQ and turns a Q. Pretty terrible run bad that was a harbinger of the session. another one I call a raise to 20$ on the button with A4 suited with diamonds 932 flop two diamonds check to me I bet 35 into 60 get reraised to 105 with J8 of diamonds, turn Jack, call 110 river brick I check. Maybe could shove a bluff? but could still be good with a high also. I've been studying my ass off It's hard to decipher whether this was due to run bad or bad play or I'm getting worse. 700 downswing contained in 2 hands. First one I raise k10clubs on button big blind raises to 75 he had been playing alot of hands out of town player hard to put him on a specific range. flop k86all hearts, he checks I bet 50 in 150. he calls. Turn off suit jack. I bet 200 he tank calls, river brick I try to turn my top pair into a bluff and bet 300 into his 100. he calls with AK. I though he had either aces with a heart or queens with a heart and might fold. But no specific read probably overly ambitious, maybe I should have shoved flop? he had no heart draw. Probably fold Pre, then last hand 240 remaining, I call 68 off 3 way flop 3 jacks. check to raiser he c bets 33% flop. I re raise turning my hand into a bluff mid position calls the 65, button folds the best hand turn 6 now I hit my 6 outter and jam remaining 130 he snap calls (this guy was in for over 1200 in 2 hours playing every hand and not very well either) he snap calls with aq off and binks a queen on river sending me home. even when I bluffed and hit my low frequency card I get rivered with 80% equity on the turn. I'm gonna keep studying, keep a positive attitude, hangout with friends, but study lots of poker and focus mainly on it. At this point I'm feeling kinda sad about losing and open to suggestions for anything to try anything. I feel like I'm too old and experienced to play this bad, was it a terrible plays? I had k10 blocking the king heads up against villain with avg rep. I just don't know.

Vegas is mecca. So glad I made the pilgrimage. Never been happier. Of course it helps to win 1k playing 1/2 on your first day. Aa vs ak aipf. Aa vs turned 2nd nut flush river Boat. And aq vs q9 turn straight. The action is the best here I love the Golden Nugget and the nice weather and beautiful landscapes. Wish I never had to leave! Gonna bet some sports and play more today. Yesterday went to Valley of Fire, Hoover Dam and Calico Basin area at night to see the stars!

Restarting the blog In Vegas gonna be playing tons for the next week and gonna go running in death valley and hike the 16 mile route of Mt Charleston, if any here wants to join of play cards get at me! First session Mgm minus 300 maybe spewed off the last 40 I had but other ran really bad and played perceivable well but lost. Definitely not a good result and looking to bounce back strong, will post more hands of sessions from now on. Second hand after sitting down. Pick up Aq off. And after watching Phil Galfond breakdown a hand with Koon vs Kalas I knew to aqo is a sure fire 3 bet. ep opens 15 1/2 game at mgm. I raise 52$ from Small blind BB calls Ep calls. flop 632 2 clubs of which i have none. I check oop of position as I've been known to do in multiway pots. BB shoves 45$ EP snap calls and puts only one chip in. Definitely annoys me because there was still other people in the pot but I took it as serious strength and all I have is ace high could be up against sets A6 flush draws, over pairs my aq loses a lot of it strength pf. so I fold. Turn A and im on tilt immediately because they show down 86 suited and pocket 8s. Then I get kings twice in 10 hands raise to 15 and 20 and everyone folds, More tilt. In the bb I have 24 and it checks round so free flop. 42j 4 ways, Button bets 6 I re raise to 20 targeting jx holdings. he flats so he could have an over pair or jx type hand. Older man seemed very straightforward player. dealer deals 8 on turn. I lead out 35 turn this time he just calls. river 8 pairing the board I check old man bets out 70 I snap fold. More tilt. Then I call a5 off in the big blind 5 ways ep made it 10$ flop 522 original raiser goes 15 one caller I reraise trying to rep a 2 from the big blind. everyone folds same different but similar old man who plays very fundamental poker flats, now its hard to put him on a specific hand when he doesn't 3 bet pre so I shutdown. check turn check river he flips jacks for the scoop. One more hand I have 64 off and call a raise 4 ways for 10$ some tourist and his girlfriend and man who is oddly from Airdrie which is right next to my hometown of Calgary is in as well 1062 flop Touristy long haired Rustin Cohle but the later years bets 5 we all call. turn 9 all checked I lead 15 on the better on the flop calls river queen. HE checks to me Im not blocking any draws and both flush draws missed whilst the straight on the river comes in. I put him to the test putting him all in him for his 65 remaining chips. he looks uncomfortable and defeated but also drinking and somehow finds the call with a9 for a turned middle. I can't believe it and and down 240 within 1.5 hours, I say to myself I'm gonna run this stack back up but I tried to semi bluff a combo draw in to a slow played a10 top two and it was curtains for me. I felt like i've been doing everything right, studying poker meditating, eating healthy sleeping well etc etc... but I don't know maybe someone can provide insight? I had 3 1000 dollar profit sessions last time I was here wish I would have blogged them but now I've tried to improve upon myself to get a forever evolving mentality and I lost. Its definitely not what I was expecting. Oh yeah I also got diagnosed with high functioning autism so maybe that's messing with me, or maybe Vegas is just slower this time of year. time will tell...

5 hour sessions at Redrock I seem to have the most consistent results there I dont know what it is about the room but its a very nice to play. In for 300 ran it up to 1200 at its apogee but ran a flopped into a flopped straight when villain raised 54 utg on a 632 flop against my threes. i flatted 15 in position. he checked flop I bet 15 he intimated raising then called. turn a of hearts bringing a heart draw into the equation and he checks I bet out 35 he reraised all in , I put his range mostly on Ax but alas I was wrong. Also ran K9 suited in ak suited 15 pre on a k42 dry board. so that cost me 300 but at least it was logical spots to lose and didn't torch the money. I cashed 916 after generous as always. Other notable hands that I can remember the specific boards but 102 clubs raised on button 5 callers q104 two clubs and i bet it all the way until I hit the flush on the river and my opponent bet out all in first to act. AA vs AK all in before the flop good for 100$. I did the vaunted 7bet with ak of and got called by short stack ak and 400 stack with aq of all in pre flop so after the chop made about 325. Queens A5 and eights and just all around crazy run good.

Went to MGM in the morning promptly lost 200 on second hand when opened AJ off 15 2 callers a82 flop two hearts be small cbet 10$ check raised that looked like a bluff tgo 40 I call other dude who looks in the bottom 30% of players call also, turn is jack of hearts giving me top two. and I face a 50$ bet from oop player into a 3 way pot, but I still call for some dumb reason other guy calls river is a super brick off suit deuce. First to act shoves 80. I crying call. Other dude calls with Kq off king of hearts missed draw. I get shown q7. I know this player that did this got very lucky with the run out. they coul have had kx bluff draws or aq or ak so calling was not insane I guess but not my best based on how strong they look leading in a mulitway pot all 3 streets. I was down 200 within 30 min. I Didn't want to sit there all day pissed so I called an audible. I saw the seat next to the player open. So I Daron Bland intercepted their cards. And within 20 hours made back what I lost plus turned a 277$. Now it wasn't easy I had to dig deep and make a crazy bluff on a king river with a straight on board and other perfect plays executing like a computer. like calling an all in preflop with 67 hearts vs j8 clubs and board runout a4526. Unfortunately I need to start writing down the hands to keep track of all of them cause I was vpiping pretty high and play way too many hands to recall and bluffing like 400% more than I would typically back home. Just because the games are softer, and no one knows me and I can get away with it. Anyways then I went all you can eat sushi and SushiBomb has some of the best sushi Ive ever had and I love sushi. Then I went up to Reverence park to get a view of Vegas. After letting all the food digest I went to Red Rocks and made $466 in 4 houts. I really feel in good form and have a strong stomach to make repeated bluffs. Two hands from Red Rocks: one 66 vs unkown hand all in preflop. 67492 run out for 100$.
I still feel pretty wired up. another one was folding kings when villain leads out of position 2 streets called first on 1097j board learned lesson from earlier let hand go. Then las hand was good for 200$ish with a nice looking asian looking young man opens to 15 I flat on button with j8 off. flop is j810 he bets 30$ I call to disguise the strength of my hand. and there were straight and flush draws on board so need to go buck wild. turn 8 looks like a safe card for my opponent who im my estimation had been tilted from running bad and rebuying twice already cause he ships and I snap not to waste time. and he doesn't hit his thin outs. Vegas Run good and good soft games continue, Im definetly coming back in January lol. Also really enjoy meeting and talking to locals here.

4 hours at red rocks down 50$. Not bad considering how bad I played at certain points. Table was pretty dead and I should have left or at least requested a seat change because even with new players they were all regs that knew each other and didn't come to lose or gamble. It's actually a miracle I didn't lose more. Winning like 80% pots without show down. Also lifted weights and hiked from calico basin to calico hills loop so I was much more fatigued then usually which diverted mental resources away from optimal. That's my excuse and I'm sticking. I'm 100% convinced that these rigorous workouts make me a better player and the short term harm it causes my game more than gets returned with benefits in the form of better mood, stamina energy and anti aging benefits and neuroplasticity. Anyways one hand that I remember cause it was right before I left. Villain aka a nice friendly looking old man with silver long hair. Opens 15 on cutoff. Button folds 109 I call with pocket threes. Flop 10 9 6 he c bets 20. I raise to 60 trying to rep a set. He calls (uh oh) then checks turn which was a 4 i shove 160 effective he folds. I guess he didn't have an over pair only ace king and my 3s were actually good. I'm not 100% sure. But button was sad he folded and asked "you had aces right?" I said yes I don't know why. Made 502 playing poker would have been 900 but I ran extremely bad in 1/2 and played bad also. At least I decided to test myself at a higher stake 2/5. Playing at red rocks. My excuse was going to be that I went to death valley and ran and hiked and was exhausted. Which is true but also was epic. But then after buying in almost minimum for 2/5 which is a very successful old strategy I honed back in the day. I ran it up to 1200 in a couple hours. Folded like 30 hands pre and like 2 ajs and then flop folded tens and ak on min raises pre. Then wake up with aa utg raise 15. 5 callers button raises to 85. Folds to me I shove 300 effective. Button calls flop aj2 turn 9 river 4 opponent had nines so we still had a micro sweat. Then folded a bunch more strong hands. Like ak and qj suited. Ak on button 3bet to 45 one caller same guy but he switched to left of me instead of right. Heads up flop like 115 in middle. Check to me I bet 30 he re raises 130 270 behind. I shove into his polarized raise. Oh yeah flop is aj4. Hoping he doesn't have two pair or set. He didn't I cant remember the run out but no Broadway cards. We scoop and leave to go to market grill Cafe holy crap it's good. [Uploading Image...]

Long day 3 different casinos but only 2.5-3 hourish sessions at each. Wake up super early head to MGM. Get in on an over night game big stacks big pots I'm like finally a chance to make money. But unfortunately we did pick up any cards and the one hand we get kings we 3 bet to 50 after the usually suspects raise to 15 and call in early position then just two seats down an elderly man 4 bets to 125. everyone else folds to me, we have an easy decision, snack muck, shout out to the nits. I show him to try to get a Teddy Kgb rage reaction. But all he says is "you know long term that's a bad fold" Im proud of that fold its the first time I think I've done it in that spot. I've done it with Queens twice semi recently but just incase any one wasn't sure he did later confirm aces. . Oh yeah the Players and the atmosphere at the game was fantastic it was really good playing there. But everyone was also leaving cause one guy was winning all their money, I go out for a lunch with a player I met at Red Rocks. I had a bunch of cash on me and at one point he pulled out his gun and he's complete stranger in a foreign city so naturally I was worried something was gonna go down, but no turns out he's a great guy just wanted to show me his pistol. And that's not a euphemism (I like the ladies) then I go to Red Rocks to play 1/3 all the tables are chocked full of nit regs for the 3rd night in a row, And I try to force action and punt 300 bluffing into kq on a k10754 board with 89 after she bets two streets oop and checks river I almost obligated to go for it and she was drinking and seemed kinda weak. But she tank called so I left to rebuy 300 short stack at 2/5 where the average stack was like 1500. Win a flip with jacks vs ak and flop a flush with 86 diamonds vs Adk on a king high board. he limped pre flop. 6 callers 30 in middle, he's first to act bets like 30 everyone folds i smooth. turn brick as in board doesnt pair. he bets 80 I flat. river brick. he checks I quickly check. My logic behind this is his range is uncapped in a no raise pot leading out. but as I write this now checking is kinda weak but it could be trappy I don't know. I was kinda tilted from 1/2 and just wanted to book a win. so I made 392 there pretty quickly and then left as the game started breaking for dinner time. It didn't break but people leaving and I wanted to play 1/2 anyways. And it wasn't that great of a game. So I went to Golden Nugget and thats when things got good. in the last 3 days 1/2 no one was folding to double barrels and always hitting rivers or reraising me or calling me it was brutal I thought it would never end and questioned whether I could ever win again. But here I was taking initiative by playing agressively and opening with a wider range. taking down several pots without showdown. Things were like the good ol' days again. anyways this guy beside me shoved a turned 108 straight on a 9776 turn and got snapped by 97 so he was tilted rebought for 300. 300$ effective stacks he raises 15 I got kq hearts call a couple more callers. Flop KQ4 checks to him he goes 45 I call everyone else folds turn brick he goes 100 I reraise another hundred he snaps with ak no ace on river we scoop 650 pot. but then I get a10 limp is 6 ways flop 10106 last to act young asian grinder bets 11 I call everyone else folds turn 3 so an effective brick he goes 25. there are two hearts on flop. I call to rep a flush draw river brick 2. I check he goes 150 which is way over pot. I'm like yes he has a 1o with a worse kicker and snap faster than a laser beam he shows 3's wow brutal I even though raising flop but maybe a heart turn would slow me down and no reason to kick out draws or 10's with worse kickers. another hand I have KQ vs AQ 165 effective all in pre and runout was kqxxx. oh yeah another one I flop an open ended straight flush draw on 532 two diamonds so top pair also. buddy bets 25 flop me and one other call. 100 turn fold to me I'm getting 3-1 on a call and I say **** I call. river is a 9 of clubs. 74 yr old man bluffs 66 in that spot I checked river. so I donated back on some hands. but one sick hand was three betting 86 spades to 35 from 12 just because this young guy from Florida (initial raiser) seemed kinda week so why not. heads up to the flop he had 54 clubs. flop j85 two clubs one spade. he checks I go 65 just because I feel like the 8 is good and if he has overs I'm hoping he folds but he tank shoves and I snap call. turn spade river brick we scoop a 600$ pot and walk out in 2 hours up 745. So pretty legit day.

Played 10 hours straight at mgm was down 300 ish most of the day after winning 200 in the beginning. After that just ran into so many tough players who ended up riveting or turning me. Lost with kings to aq. Queens lost to k6. Turnt nut straight buddy flopped nut flush. And no bluffs working. Luckily still minimized my losses through discipline. But I was ready to give up around 4 down 300. I could still say I played well and made a good account of myself. But nah I realized that I ran soo so bad that it is was inevitable that run good had to come eventually. So I decided to stay until I at least broke even. But earlier in the morning I had queens vs jacks and I didn't want my opponent to fold so I min clicked up pre flop and said "now don't raise anymore" of course he raised and I won. Reverse psychology is a powerful tool. I used the same in a 1000 pot I won the hand before I left. I limped kks lol. 7 handed I think I was hijack. Bb whose vpip was high and seemed tilted raise 15 which I thought highly probably and I wanted to disguise my hand a lil bit. Then I go 65 he calls. Flop k108. I go 20 into 138ish cause mid position called the 15 but folded 65. Anyways he re raises 65 so I min click up to 105 and say "now no more raising ok." He snap shoves and I snap call 400ish more with kk. He tables k10 turn ace for a micro sweat we scoop and leave up 480 after 9 hours.

Wow Im shocked I made 388 at Nugget. Switched tables after getting crushed. because it all solid locals and solid out of towners. I was down 500 after some kinda tilted kinda ill advised bluff/squeeze miss. I wish I could write all the hands down but I'm too tired. but last Hand before I left was a 900$ pot with Jacks after I bluffed this lady off ak on k53 flop, I knew she was tilted and I took a similar line but pre flop (3 betting but limping first) instead of on the flop on the previous hand. And I did show the bluff. So I knew by mimicking the line and feigning weakness it was almost impossible for her not to shove 400 with 9's. I don't know I could be wrong but that was my intuition of what would happen and the motive behind snap calling. We scoop and now pretty happy but also possibly burnt out and inhaling disgusting stale smoke all day. I was completely convinced that my luck had run out and I was a fraud a house of cards one gust of wind away from being toppled over but my Cinderella story hasn't struck midnight quite yet. We were in for 900 which was a lot normally I try not to rebuy and through sheer tyranny of will the first 3 days I never dipped below my starting stack. Now I'm Rebuying every session and getting touchdowns trailing in 4th to comeback. I must examine myself to see how this happened. Also a couple people mentioned South Point and Horse Shoe to play so those are next on my list!

Went to south point made 240 in 2 hours. Really impressed with the whole operation they have down there. And tons of tables going. Though a bit dry this Sunday. We start of losing with kings to ace king for the minimum. Then fold a bunch of pocket pairs
Till we wake up with 24 hearts on the buttons. 7.5x raise to charge limpers and generate action. 5 ways to flop 975 flop two hearts. Utg goes twenty me and the player to my right call turn 4. Utg leads75 cutoff fold. River 2. Utg 75. I call instead of raise as we have show down value and while it's possible a worse hand would call us I didn't see too many worse hands calling a raise. We scoop ~430ish pot and have to leave back home to Canada. So long Vegas be back soon!

Flight got cancelled stuck in town for another night. Went to Nugget lost 442. Last hand was 67off raised 15 button 4 callers. Flop 774 two diamonds. Utg goes 20 everyone folds I re raise 65 he shoves 155 turn diamond river brickm he shows 62dd. Just couldn't get much going. Losing is painful but after that hand I had to tap out. Now I end the trip anti climatically but still greatful for all the experiences. 10 hour layover in Vancouver won't play though too tired need a break for a few days.

Worst poker day in so long down 875 or 3 buy ins. I dont think the games are pure are bearable. Or maybe I just suck. But I can't be going there ever again. Gonna try cowboys but maybe look into online or only playing in Vegas. I mean last hand I get dealt aces on button kings raises early position to 25 I opt for a rare flat call. Maybe it's a terrible play. Q6 off suit big blind calls. Flp q53 ep bets 50 I call big blind calls. Turn q. Ep 70 I call big blind shoves 300 some misfortunate looking soul I've never seen before. Ep tank folds I crying call hoping it's a bluff or I hit an ace but of course not. Overall so many tough spots I got put into and ran under ev so I'm shell shocked. All I know is the atmosphere there was awful. No wonder didn't see any of my poker friends there. I won't be back there thats for sure. Gonna study more and try nicer places to play at in town until vegas next month.

I just need to Articulate some more thoughts that I was too tired to do yesterday. When I'm playing a game with really good players I can't play as many hours. These guys were winning going south then coming back like they do it everyday. One things for pure is dying as a poker room. Their Omaha Games are the best in city but hold em is getting trash. I saw it happen for over a year but it finally clicked yesterday. No one was talking, no one was laughing, except the Dealers chatting with the fellow Country mates in a foreign language at the table as play is occuring. That **** threw me off. It's against the rules but no one enforces. Cause they're so desperate for players they bend rules. Don't get me wrong there's good dealers and staff there but over 50% aren't very good at their jobs compared to any dealers I met in Vegas. The whole room is just bleak and depressing. I see a 10th of the former regs playing there. Gonna have to see what else is out there. Hear good things about Ace by the Airport perhaps the proximity to the airport will bring in more crowds. I'm not playing with 4 ft tall people with blood shot eyes who sound sick constantly hacking up a lung like they got aids and have facial twitches. I respect all humans but I can't go back environment for my own peace of mind. I will update on other casinos. I may have gotten bluffed or semi bluffed by a tight older Asian gentleman in 2 different really big pots. AK on a k108 board all hearts 3 way action i bet 25 pre 3 callers. flop he bets out 20 i raise 70 they both call turn is and off suit J He snap shoves with his image I think he has flush or two pair and with one person to act behind me looking strong smooth calling flop I had to fold what could have been a 800 pot swung my way He did show one king meaning he didn't have a flush, but the way the cards were being distributed I felt like he had a set or two pair, cause I couldn't hit anything. And I told him I folded Ak and he seemed genuinely shocked and not in a good way, but I'll never know. Another pot was same guy heads up he bets 20 pre I call with 59 diamonds flop is 644 two diamonds he bet 20 I call turn 10 of diamonds I go 30 he jams. Again this guy seemed like a very tight older 4 ft tall Asian. He could have a boat he could have a higher flush I fold then this is bull ****. he showed me on 4 and then I said I know you have a full house and he and his friend starting laughing say yeah there's no way I bluffed you, like trying to piss me off instead winning with grace or dignity, So I just don't wanna give people like that money and I'll have to be much prudent with game selection back home in Calgary. There's too many classless players that act like animals. End Rant. In retrospect I probably would have called both those hands because I looked weak betting small and that guy probably got greedy going for the bluffs but I'll never and the game was gruelling and tiring so I was not at the best mental state by that point. I just wanna have fun playing poker if that's even possible here?

Downswing continues down 260 at southpoint. Came back to Vegas ran my stack up to 700 and lost it it all in an 8 hour time frame. I should have left but I'm stubborn. After all my good hands started getting cracked and then good players rotated it after dinner. All in ak vs k9 pf lose. Get angled by a guy saying he's blind but bets 200% pot with top pair and I had two overs a straight draw and back door flush and miss the world. Queens crack by a7 after shoving 663 flop. I known played really good just gotta work on leaving when up lol.

No matter how had the previous day is tomorrow is always a new day. Up and down at mgm after losing with kk and jj and winning with k6 and 94. Ep get dealt ako. Player beside me with 750bb and becoming more active goes 15$ 1 other call I bump up to 62. Call call. Flop 864 relatively safe more my range I go 95. Solver likes betting more with Bluffs. And I had just decided I'm going to out play this guy this hand. He calls lp folds. Turn 10 I try to rep aces shove remaining 140. He tank calls river 4 I miss. He had a flush draw and bricked with a9. Feels pretty sweet winning a 600$ pot with A high and spectators. Up 325. Now little break and Horseshoe next.

Lost 260 and left. Was playing well until got dealt kings twice in 5 hands and on the second round I get 4 bet by a new player at the table. Call 80 and flop q88 he goes 33% pot I call shoves turn on a 4 I call. I even felt aces but unlike last time there wasn't multi way dynamics and this guy was betting smaller giving me better odds. So I just left because the table was shite.

Up 94 and left after playing 2/5 short buy red rocks. Bled out 200 then clawed back a bit until 4 bet shoving 85 diamonds on the button ak off calls we bink a flush lol and he can only go runner runner. Not the best day but at least end with some momentum. These games are getting way tougher and I'm playing worse.

Side not the best place by far to play was MGM so many people from around the world play there and table banter made it the funnest table I've played in a while. I suspect the proximity to the airport aids in bringing more travelling players to that room.
