I think he means if you're bluffing all your QT no heart and value betting your 9T, you are gonna have 9 bluff combos and 16 value combos, giving villain a call with his hands that have a pair.

Im often tempted to take a poker book into work to read on lunch. But I dont want to raise suspicion as I also like to do some poker calculations in excel at work whilst having my boss believe Im working on getting that invoice ready. Would be nice to give my eyes a rest from a screen but end up just doing some reading on the Kindle app at lunch so my boss believes I will be sticking around for the breadcrumbs they pay me for the next 10 years.

And I doubt the boss would be impressed to know that on a Friday I am going home to grind for 12 hours until 7am and repeat Sat Sun. So I always give him a nice story of what my wk end will consist of, sometimes you need to tell people what they want to hear.
Yeah it's a real shame that you are made to feel that way and can't really be yourself at work.

Yeah i tend to agree. I may as well explain my truthful thought process as it seems relevant. I guess that the more i work as a therapist, the more i see how vulnerable people can be. I'm there as someone who my client can rely on to be there each week, to listen to all their stuff and also help them fix themselves - pretty selfless overall. I then have the other side of me that preys on the weak and exploits people. What i'm trying to say is that the more aware of myself i become the more i question whether different parts of me are a contradiction. At times it's a pretty rough thought because I can't really not play poker as it's my source of income + i'm good at it, but there's also a small part of me that feels a sense of guilt.

Anyway, it's something that i've just been giving some thought and i'm happy that i'm able to be honest with myself instead of disregarding that there may be some inner conflict.

Tbh guys this is an unbelievably exploitable bluff and i'm not gunna pretend that i was counting combos. I just felt with game flow, the fact he overbet turn, that i block the nuts, that he can't really ever call down with anything but the nuts, that i have WAY more 9T than him and that when close to 100% of the population only play 9T exactly this way i could get him to fold anything bar 9T. From a theoretical point of view im overbluffing but from a realistic reg v reg at 200nl i'm turning biiiiig profit playing my hand this way.

Correct me if i'm wrong, isn't it 12 combos of each 9T and QT i have with exact flop? I call 100% of QTo and 9To pre

Today was garbage, played absolutely awful. At least i didn't have too bad of a session. Picked up aces soooo many times and had some sick whales. Really feels like i should have made about 3k. I was also overheating like a mother ****er - the flat is just insaaaaanely hot at the moment which is awful for grinding!

The flop in hand 2, was there a fist pump, a relatively subdued 'Yes!' or was there '9 or a 5' type hysteria when you seen it?

Given that there is no Q or T on the board, you have 16 combos of both QT and T9.

            4Q*4T = 16QT (4 suited, 12 off-suit).

I believe the original assumption was that you wouldn't bluff your QT hands that have a heart in them (as villain's overbet semi bluffs are fairly likely to have Q or T. This would give you 3x3=9 QT combos.

KTdd hand - I keep thinking the same when a passive donk leads river with the nuts and then a few hands later he'll be leading river with a weaker top pair hand than you have. I think at half pot you have to always call there unless you have a read that he only does it with nutted hands. It's extremely frustrating though when they always seem to have it

there are no noob questions, dw. Its actually quite close. Whilst having the Ac means we aren't afraid of Axcc (cus he will be 3betting Axs pre from the SB a LOT) it also feels like not having it benefits us too as he will bluff his Acx combos. Off the top of my head i would say i would rather not have the Ac in my hand but i would like to have the Jc.

                                Ben,

I ran a sim on the AJ hand (SB vs BB) earlier today and found some very strange results. Now, a few hours later, I decided to redo the sim to see if perhaps I would discover something different.

My first guess when reading the hand was that the EV of calling AJ here versus a well constructed range (depending on how you view things, you may disagree with this initial assumption; however, this is my preferred basis without reads) would be very close to 0.

I ran this hand through CREV using what I believed to be somewhat reasonable assumptions (which I will include below at the end of this post) and then used the 'equilibrium' tool in attempt to solve the river. I made OOP always check, and gave IP the option to either shove or check. CREV decided to do some strange this here which I didn't fully understand. In CREV's eqm range, it had IP using a mixed strat with AK (utilizing flush blockers IIRC), and actually had IP always checking AA (which I still do not fully understand; though I suspect it has to do with AA blocking too much of your bluff catching range that is not QT).

Versus the IP's range, CREV had you only sometimes calling with AJ, and sometimes folding (as you can guess, given that it's using a mixed strategy, the EV of AJ was then of course 0).

I then went back and adjusted IP's range to what I thought would be slightly more realistic (I basically made him always bet AK+, but left everything else the same*).

*I couldn't add more bluffs because CREV already had IP bluffing all his complete air.

This adjustment (this is a very obvious result) made calling AJ quite -EV (~$19). Basically, using the range I had given villain, he couldn't get to the river with enough air to balance his value range. If my assumption of his range is correct, your highest EV counter-adjustment would be only to call QT! (I gave you the off-suit combos of QT as well).

                                Notable assumptions:

                                BB 3bet range (13.27%):

                                77-AA, AJ-AK, A2s-A5s**, ATs**, K7s-K8s, KTs-KJs**, KQ, Q7s-Q8s**, QTs-QJs**, QTo**, QJo-KJo**, J7s**, T7s-T9s**, 96s-98s**, 85s-87s**, 75s-76s**, 64s-64s**, 54s**

                                **weighted 40%.

                                SB calling range:

                                22-88, A2s-AQs, A9o-AQo, K8s-KQs, KQo, QJo-KJo, JTo-KTo, Q9s-QJs, J9s-JTs, T8s-T9s, 97s-98s, 86s-87s, 76s, 65s

                                - SB never x/r flop/turn (reasonable assumption given texture. River BB ends up shoving)

I could go more in depth into all my betting/calling ranges here, but I think everything is pretty reasonable. I will save the file in case you would like to see it.

TL;DR: AJ is much less of a call than it initially looks like against how most people likely play. Villain likely does not get to river with enough air. Versus a balanced*** strat, AJ is a call sometimes.

                                ***sorta

I don't think BB's 3betting range is so linear like u calculated above. A big portion of that 3b range is going to be in his flatting range BvB and instead he will 3bet a lot more weakish hands that'll make his 3b range more polarized.

This could certainly be true, but could you be more specific? Linear could be interpreted in a few different ways. If you're referring to his high card hands, then I think assigning a mixed strategy like I did is reasonable (for hands such as QJs for example), and I would certainly always expect BB to 3b KQ+. If you're talking about hands such as 76s that you think he would call, and 3b something like 95s instead, I would just like to point out that for the analysis of this hand the two hands function identically.
