Went out last night to a place called Katzenjammers which is a german themed beer hall. Was totally knackered after a late one, but managed to do about 4-5 hours on my essay and put in a 90 min session. I've written about 1k solid words so far. Just another 3500 to go...

Mini update. Haven't played since last update. The essay grind is slow and arduous. Looks like there's a decent chance i won't play all month which would be a shame. Roll on 2017 i guess!

Hope the xmas games are treating you all well glllllll

Ah, nice. Where are you based nowadays? haha, that sounds about right. I've played live a few times in the past couple months and have ran like total trash.

    ---

Got so sick of working on the essay that i put in a session. Ran real nice in pots and real awful in all ins. The games were disgustingly good. Really missing out on some seriously profitable games atm.

Sizing is slightly small, but not far off - prob 1bb more would be optimal. if btn limped 6x is good. KQ would be played the same as KJs here

haha i got no idea about live i'm afraid!

Trying to equate this to live poker where it's 13 limps to me in the bb with QJs.
I think this is actually a relatively common spot in live cash games. I think as long as the following criteria are met I would isolate this, rather than limp, and for a very large sizing to ensure this gets HU.

                  1. There are no limp re-raisers UTG.
                  2. UTG's EP limping range is not super strong (AQ, KJs etc), such that we invite a cascade of cold-callers.
                  3. All of the effective stacks are > 100BB. I think this one is probably the most important.
                  4. I have a good winning table image.
                  5. There are no more than 3-4 major VIPs in the game.

I think while checking QJ in the BB is completely fine, here's why I prefer raising:

                  1. We have initiative.
                  2. QJs is such a fantastic hand to barrel vs weak ranges (on many flop textures we'll have at least a couple of back-door straight draws, which mesh well with our perceived range i.e. if a K comes off on a 9xx board.)
                  3. We can "rep" any A or K.
                  4. Its a relatively nutty hand that can over-flush and over-straight strong holdings, although yes people do like to overlimp suited aces and kings.
                  5. If we raise to £20 over 8 limpers in a £1/£2 say, our raise needs to work about 60% of the time. I think this is large enough where it just about works enough of the time, apart from the most exceptional of games. Remember the LP over-limpers are going to be extremely wide here with things like 85s, 96s, Q4s etc as well as pocket-pairs they'll auto-call with. If you've seen UTG limp in with some rather "speculative" things like Q8o, this is a print money raise.

The range I'd probably do this with in the BB would be something like:

                  AA,KK,QQ,JJ,TT
                  AKs,AQs,AJs
                  KQs,KJs
                  QJs
                  AKo,AQo,AJo

The hands I put in red are extremely close, and I would probably lean towards just checking especially AJo.

It really doesnt have that much playability in deep multi-way pots, and is generally good for a couple of medium streets of value in these type of spots i.e. it doesnt mind seeing a flop multi-way (i.e. as long as we're relatively cautious we can get some nice value from random overlimped Ax etc). This probably seems extremely nitty but I might even check AQo and TT for the same reasons, especially TT. I'm generally not nitty enough to check AQo though personally.

                  Sorry for the thread hijack!

Do you work primarily on your own or do you have small circle of players you regularly chat with. I just had my small skype group break up recently and I contribute our weekly sessions and focused approach to learning and working with PIO to much of my success in poker. Im worried now for 2017

Hes part of teh uk gay crew. Probably teh most prolific pokercrew these days. Problem though is you have to be gay in order to be part of or at least ocasionally engage in gay activities (probably can pm kreuznagel for this bc he isnt really gay afaik but engages in mentioned activities to strengthen his game)
