When you say the fish is "very bad", does it mean he will check/fold flop to your cbet? Or is he the "bad" type to call you down with any piece? If he's the second type of "bad", isn't it a bad idea to 3bet him because we will have to flop TP or better?
Just trying to learn and get into your thought process, thanks!
Yeah it's definitely too weak to call because i would never flat a good hand there so the regs behind can squeeze at a very high frequency. If this was at micro stakes then calling preflop is definitely fine.
By bad fish i mean he will make fundamental mistakes as a whole. Because his preflop range is so wide he'll be getting to the flop with a load of hands that can't continue on a lot of flops.
Even if hes a kinda cally fish, i think it's still fine to 3b them because our skill edge is so great.

Ben, in the 22 hand do you not think villain would play QT like that though?
I think this villain is far more likely to just open QT. I guess it's feasible but that he could limp call but i just think they'd still x/c the turn.

Had an evening of thrice, home game and more thrice last night. I feel like i'm pretty gambled out but while the fish are in town i guess i gotta put in the hours. We played £1/£2, 7 handed, £400 min sit down, 72s and 72o £20 bonus and if you win 3 hands in a row everyone pays you £50. It was a chaos game to say the least.
Had a session today and at one point i was down the most i've ever been down in a single session. It was hideous. Losing every big pot, made a couple bluffs and then had a 80 vpip whale at 1k 6m who took at least 2500 off me.
The month is pretty disastrous so far. down over 7k. I expect to have 2 losing months a year based on my past few years, but there is still plenty of time to get out of it.
We bailed on dinner last night as people were too tired, so we're out for a final meal at sticks and sushi tonight instead.
Will grind again tomorrow, dunno if cash or timbey. Motivation is pretty low!
Had a lot of fun at the sticks and sushi last night. Was a great ending to a really fun week!
Had a great first session today and a really poor second one.
Overall i played bad. Felt a lot of frustration from yesterday creeping into my game. Spewed too much, made awful call downs and bluffed in some horrendous spots. Will steady the ship tomorrow for sure.
Preflop: Hero is BB with 4 2
CO folds, BTN calls $4, SB completes, Hero checks
Flop: ($12) 2 8 4 (3 players)
SB checks, Hero bets $7.98, BTN raises to $35.34, SB raises to $200, Hero raises to $396 and is all-in, BTN calls $160.44 and is all-in, SB calls $196 and is all-in
Turn: ($999.78) 9 (3 players, 3 are all-in) River: ($999.78) T (3 players, 3 are all-in)
Spoiler:
Results: $999.78 pot ($1.50 rake)
Final Board: 2 8 4 9 T
BTN showed J 8 and lost (-$199.78 net)
SB showed 8 6 and lost (-$400 net)
Hero showed 4 2 and won $998.28 ($598.28 net)
One does not win limped pot all-in with bottom two pair!!!!
haha, i have no idea how i held there

I'd say he has TT here. The guy who CC the bb was a 75 vpip whale so he definitely 4b's TT pre. QT wouldn't ever 4b though. It's a really awful spot for me. The more i look at it the more i want to call now though

Are you saying we should call then? I mean, he knows he reps sooo thin that it just has to be value imo. It's really really grim

Put in a high quality session yesterday. I've decided as part of my goals of maintaining off table work, i'm booking a couple coaching sessions with a friend and boss reg. Hoping to work on some spots where i'm leaking a lot of money.
I got a seat at 5k yesterday too... and actually played 3 rounds.
this was vs reg. My heart was beating out my chest when i shoved river
Preflop: Hero is CO with A J
MP1 folds, MP2 raises to $8, MP3 raises to $28, Hero raises to $72, 3 folds, MP2 calls $64, MP3 calls $44
Flop: ($222) A 7 3 (3 players)
MP2 checks, MP3 checks, Hero bets $60, MP2 folds, MP3 raises to $328 and is all-in, Hero calls $268
Turn: ($878) A (2 players, 1 is all-in) River: ($878) J (2 players, 1 is all-in)
Spoiler:
Results: $878 pot ($3 rake)
Final Board: A 7 3 A J
MP2 mucked and lost (-$72 net)
MP3 showed 9 8 and lost (-$400 net)
Hero showed A J and won $875 ($475 net)
curious about the AK hand , do you think there would be benefit in designing a donking turn/jamming river range as when people bet that turn which polarize their range, it's kinda tough to play AK unless we are c/j. and b/c/b on this board is mostly always Qx+ for value sometimes flush too. regarding your play being nutted in some way, I just thought maybe the population is not slow playing enough. Probably snap too in his shoes when your perceive range is something like TT/JJ/88 with a spade or 98/T9 type hand.
damn 5knl. i'd sit that but then again i'd need 5k in my stars account.
where are you playing mate?!

I don't think that the turn is better for our range so i wouldn't be introducing a donking range and also villain has way more Axss than we do. I think it was and still is a pretty big mistake bet calling KQ here vs me because i only bluff AsK (i can't have AsJ as i never call the 3b pre) and i have many more value combos (3x99, 3xQQ, AKss, AJss, ATss and a somewhat discounted KJss/TJss). I also call AsQ otr. Even though my perceived range consists of many of the hands you stated, turning any of them into a bluff would mean i would be over bluffing massively. All in all, he caught me bluffing so i lose

Didn't grind today as i had too much going on. I feel that all of this client work is really helping my development as a practitioner and i hit 150 client hours today!

Ive been home for the past 10 days though hence me missing out on the Hippos UKIPT.Seemed like you guys had a blast. Would have loved to meet up again and get to know all those other internet wizards, next time though

Another winning day under my belt and today was a big boy
Ran really good and felt i didn't make any big mistakes. I think i made one in the hand at 2k below though. I should have flatted the flop but hey, whatever. The opener was a super whale fwiw
Preflop: Hero is UTG+2 with 5 5

Hero showed 5 5 and won $2,569.76 ($1,528.38 net)
MP1 mucked and lost (-$240 net)
This was a sick one. I was going to call the regs river raise as it looked like he had exactly what he had. Unfortunately the whale got lucky. Turn check may be bad? I think it's still ok tbh:
River: ($840) 2 (3 players)
Hero bets $325.90, BB raises to $1,162, BTN raises to $1,204.75 and is all-in, Hero folds, BB calls $42.75
Spoiler:
Results: $3,575.40 pot ($3 rake)
Final Board: 2 K 5 T 2
BTN showed 9 2 and won $3,572.40 ($2,087.65 net)
Hero mucked J K and lost (-$605.90 net)
BB mucked K 3 and lost (-$1,484.75 net)
