Why? Sims are so fun. Or do you prefer everyone grinding pokerstove like in the old days? Haha.

It's more democratic too, the average guy with weak networking skills that has 0 crushers as friends can learn a lot on his own. While back in the day, poker knowledge would stay inside a circle and would never go out.

I think the way it is today is way better(obv not for the guys at the top)

I once tried to recreate a ‘HUD’ on the other players at my table in the notepad on my phone during a live MTT.

lmao. unfortunately you were also only recently using pen and paper to note down your unfair jungler distribution.

I've probably hit the "go" button like 300 times this year so far, but studied probably only 20 spots(I spend hours in the same sim). I study only during downswings though, whenever I hit my next one will just study for 2 weeks and go back to playing

Agreed but it's the natural progression of things I guess. In all aspects of my life I've always preferred just doing things and figuring it out as I go along and adapting as opposed to intense study. I've been using pio more lately and doing more study than I ever have in the past, but I'll never go the route of just locking myself in a room with pio and studying it super hard. Think as long as you are game selecting properly and being honest with yourself about your place in the games you can still be totally fine not working with sims. If game quality gets so bad that the only games available are regs studying hard with pio beating up on regs not studying with pio than the time investment won't even be worth it imo.

I find aspects of working with PIO interesting and I guess sort of fun in certain ways, but for the most part I don't find studying very fun. Personally I find it way more fun when it's everyone using their own brain in real time to make their best approximation. Think it comes down to personality. Some people love to study and break down and learn all the little aspects of things. And some people love to just do things and adapt as you go.

Def agree with you that it's more attainable to anyone with the work ethic to put in the hours studying these days. Although money will still give people access to tools/advancements that aren't publicly available yet imo.

definitely more fun to just use our own brain and come up with the best approximation but sadly it makes you fall behind nowadays if you do that

I think you misunderstood what I wrote. I don't think what I said has anything to do with being in America. I'm well aware we are on the downslide and games are always slowly getting worse. No one is safe from that in the long run. If there are no good games to game select from then proper game selection means not playing in games you are now a loser in. When it's no longer worth it or beatable you walk away or move to live poker for as long as that is worthwhile.

I think you overestimate the edge pio gives you. Do you think you could be +EV playing vs galfond HU with nl50 rake? Old school players already did a lot of things pio does and shouldn't be taken lightly.

What player pools are you referring to?
