Thanks. I've been keeping up with your thread too. Keep up the good work!

Yeah, I don't ever want to rely on poker as my main source of income that is for sure. I know people say, well if you have 6bb then you will never have a losing month, etc. But how long will that last for and how realistic is that for the average person?

as long as people have addiction and love to play games
the " how long will that last" conversation could be said about a lot of sports who grew to become a cult
as I see it poker will never die, maybe new laws could change something
Poker needs to be sold like a " sport", the money in sports comes from fans worship different players. Can normal people achieve the level of worshiping poker players?

I definitely agree and think the game will be around for a long time, but I do think its unrealistic to for people to think they will have the same win rate in the same games for a long time. Who knows what could happen. Always good to have another option.

Well I suppose the run good had to end eventually...

Tough month. I was really trying to put in the volume to try and get a Phil Galfond comeback graph, but couldn't quite get there.

When I dropped the first 30 buy ins to start the month I was really considering dropping down. Nothing seemed to be going my way. It seemed like I couldn't even book a winning session. It was really tough. What helped me was zooming out a few months and noticing I was on basically a 110 buy in upswing since February. A downswing was bound to happen.

The reason I didn't move down was #1 I have the bankroll and #2 I still truly believe I am winning in the pool. 200z is not what I thought it was at all. By no means am I perfect and I have a lot to learn and get better at, but I am sure I have a winrate. #3 I still feel really confident in my game and my study routine. Unlike last year when I would hit a downswing and think to myself that I have to change what I am doing it's not working I have been sticking to what got me here. There were times some doubt crept back in, but I have stayed on track and I am really proud of myself for that.

Here is my 200z graph to date:

These were my April Goals:

- 75k hands ()
- 10-20 hours of pio/week ()
- 5 hours of simple gto trainer/week ()
- Do some preflop work (X)
- Find new players discuss hands & strategy with ()
- Stay at 200z ()

I think I played way too much volume last month. I was so focused on getting back to even (Not healthy I know) that my play/study ratio really took a hit. Instead of being around 60/40 play to study which is probably what I want it to be it was probably like 80/20. I still studied hard, but I want to put more of a focus on it this month like I did the previous months. I also didn't get to do the pre flop solves that I wanted to last month because I was too busy playing. I am still trying to decide between monker and simple pre flop. If anyone has a recommendation, let me know.

May Goals:

- 75k hands
- 10-20 hours of pio/week
- 5 hours of simple gto trainer/week
- Do some preflop work

Lets get back on track in May! 💰

How big is the difference in skill level between 100z and 200z in your opinion? You seem to be putting insane amount of volume especially considering that you have a business outside of poker. Would you say that a lower volume would lead to a higher winrate in your case?

GL in may!

Some of the regs are better for sure, but there are still lots of recreationals and the games are not as hard or different as I assumed they would be. I don't have the results to prove that yet of course, but that is just how I feel.

I think this month was definitely an exception for volume. Or I hope lol. I think it probably lowered my winrate a bit, but by how much who knows. For me personally I don't think it lowered it that much, but as I'm sure you know the difference in variance of only .5bb is massive. And that's assuming your playing at that winrate everytime you play. Some people think they wouldn't even be winning if they played 4 zoom tables vs 2. For me as long as I feel like I am not forcing myself to play and I feel like I am still focused then I am ok with putting in a lot of volume. I would prefer to be around 60-100k though. I think if you don't put in 50k hands a month minimum it's hard to know if you're even winning and say you do go through a downswing it would take ages to get out.

The downswing is finally over! What a month and a half it has been. It feels so good to have made it back. This has done wonders for my confidence.

I know if I have a small win rate these swings are going to happen, but it feels good to know I can get through it. Now I just need to continue to improve so these swings won't happen as often or happen at all. Please, no comments about playing reg tables or softer sites lol...

Hopefully the run good continues!

I actually find these sort of graphs more inspiring than the big upswing ones. It takes balls to battle through like this. Congrats man and all the best.

I shouldn't have posted that I got out of the downswing and I shouldn't have withdrew some money! I knew Pokerstars would punish me! Online poker is definitely rigged!

Haha I am kidding of course! However, I did give some money back right after I posted. At least I was able to come back a bit over the last few days. Overall, it was a pretty solid month after that horrible April.

These were my May Goals:

- 75k hands ()
- 10-20 hours of pio/week ()
- 5 hours of simple gto trainer/week ()
- Do some preflop work ()

So much for taking it easy volume wise. It is what it is. I just really enjoy playing right now. I still put a lot of time in studying and reviewing hands so as long as I am still doing that I am ok with putting in that amount of volume.

I was finally able to start running some pre flop sims. I decided to use simple preflop instead of monker and I am quite happy with that decision. Going to try some deeper stack sims this month.

June Goals:

- 75k hands
- 10-20 hours of pio/week
- 5 hours of simple gto trainer/week
- Continue pre flop work

Same goals as last month. Not this month, but maybe next month or the month after I plan to start streaming. It has always been something I wanted to do ever since I started playing again. There are not many cash streamers anymore and I know they don't get the numbers like the mtt players but I am ok with that. I think it will be fun. I just wanted my game to reach a level where I would be ok streaming and I think I am pretty close.

So far this year has gone really well and I am very happy with my progress. I guess that is what happens when you stick to a plan that you believe in and are confident in and work that plan every single day and don't change no matter how you are running. The next step is getting out of this 1-3bb win rate and get to 5bb+. I know it's possible and it will definitely help with the swings. I know I can do it, it's just a matter of time.

Ran pretty well EV wise this month. Feels weird because usually I run under EV. I hate when people say they always run bad, so I don't want that to come across like I am just trying to justify my results.

It's funny because when I am under EV I feel like I am playing well, but I am just getting unlucky and I wish I could run over EV. Now that I am running over EV I wonder am I just getting lucky and not playing well? Then I am back to wishing I was running under EV. Can't win haha, but I will take the money!

These were my June Goals:

- 75k hands ()

Volume was great. Study was ok. I could definitely improve on that this month. Really want to get out of this 1-2bb winrate trap.

I ran some more pre flop sims with different rake structures and sizes and the results are pretty interesting. If anyone wants any custom solutions with the sizes they use I am more than happy to do them since they don't take me that long to run with my computer. Just send me a PM.

July Goals:

- 75k hands
- 10-20 hours of pio/week
- 5 hours of simple gto trainer/week

This month I really want to focus on studying as the past few months I have prioritized volume. I also think I might throw in some regular tables if I have time to start to get used to them. Sometimes at night when I play EST time 200z has had only around 30 entries, so maybe I will play on some other sites during those times where the pool is really small.

Let's have a great July! 💰

Not the best month, but it happens, especially with my low win rate. I thought I was making a comeback, but the last couple days didn't go so well at all. Is what it is. Volume was good though. I was very consistent and played 3k hands minimum every single day.

These were my July Goals:

- 75k hands ()
- 10-20 hours of pio/week ()
- 5 hours of simple gto trainer/week (X)

I didn't play as many regular tables as I planned to. I just really don't like Stars way of doing it. Much prefer GG or Bodog style, but GG rake is just insane, so I can't bring myself to play there. Might play some more Bodog this month when the pool is small. We will see.

August Goals:

- 75k hands
- 10-20 hours of pio/week
- 5 hours of simple gto trainer/week

It's a long weekend in Canada this weekend so I will be taking the first two days of August off since I will be camping. These are the first two days off of poker in probably months? Might be good though. Let's bounce back in August! 💰

Not quite the comeback month I was hoping for, but I was up so I can't really complain too much. It seems I am in another long downswing/break even stretch. Hopefully it will end soon. Stars rewarded me with a nice chest though so I guess they feel bad for me

These were my August goals:

- 75k hands (X)
- 10-20 hours of pio/week ()
- 5 hours of simple gto trainer/week (X)

Volume was a bit lower than normal because I took the first two days off and I decided to try and play at least 2k hands a day instead of 3k. I definitely prefer that. I had a lot more time to do other things which was nice especially during summer. So I probably will continue that this month.

Also, the other week I paid someone to go through my database which was extremely helpful. He told me a few spots to work on, which wasn't the areas I was thinking I was weak in. We will see how that goes.

September Goals:

- 75k hands
- 10-20 hours of pio/week
- 5 hours of simple gto trainer/week

I know I said a couple months ago I wanted to start streaming and I still do! I just wanted to get a somewhat decent win rate over a good sample first. So maybe next month or the month after. Definitely in 2020!

Let's have a great August! 💰
