Weekly Update

Another tough week. I dropped to 50z a month ago to win 10 buy ins to gain some confidence back, but instead of doing that I've just been on a downward trend down. I have to admit it's finally starting to get to me mentally. I had a 200z friend of mine review my sample and there has been some mistakes for sure, but he says nothing too bad. It's tough to believe that though when you just keep losing for so long. I'm about 120k hands from peak. I feel like I must be doing some things wrong, even though stretches like this are rare but possible.





On the bright side I continued to fire some mtt's this week and I ended up winning a small one and final tabling another. I'm having fun playing them. Since there are a lot of recreationals and I have no idea what I'm really doing in the 25-50bb stack depth it forces me to be a lot more creative and exploitative.




I knew a downswing would come again eventually, but it's still tough. There is nothing I can do but to keep putting in volume and study and eventually things will turn around.

In 3-6 months it will be a good story since I'm documenting the journey. I promise to not be like so many people and once the downswing hits they stop posting and say they don't have time or don't see a reason to post when in reality they just stopped winning.

You will get through. Just keep a good mental state

Weekly/Monthy Update

Another tough week and another losing month. After ending 2018 so strong it's not what I thought and hoped the start of 2019 would look like.






On the bright side, I did have a few deep runs in some MTTs again this week. So at least my sharkscope is going up.






March Goals

Last month I decided to join another CFP after some good discussions with one of the coaches. I felt like it would be a good fit as we have a similar philosophy on a lot of things, they have a good track record and a good community of people playing my stakes and higher. So this month we are going to try and find out what has gone wrong so far this year. I'm excited to see where it goes. Hopefully this month I can have a good month at 50nl and get back to 100nl next month.

Weekly Update

For the first time in what seems like forever, I finally had a winning week. It's not very much, but maybe it's a sign of things to come?




My goal is to study a lot more this week because I have been slacking and playing too many mtts lol. Let's finally turn this year around!

Ok week. I'm hesitant to move back up to 100 again mainly because I'm not crushing it like I used to.




The coaches I'm working with say they believe I have the skill to beat it, I'd just like to see the results. I know variance in poker can be huge, but it's been so long since I've had a really good run, it feels like I'm not good enough right now.

Nice volume. I recognize your sn from 50z. Without sounding douchy, wouldn't it make more sense to beat 50z with a higher winrate before considering moving up? Gl at the tables!

I understand what you are saying, but before playing 100z the first time I was beating 50z for 5bb+ over my last 100k hands or so there. Another problem is variance.



As you can see even if you play 100k hands and have 5bb, your true winrate could be anywhere between -1 and +11 bb/100. So whether I win at 7bb or 2bb over last 50k hands it doesn't really mean anything. Since Poker is not my main source of income and bankroll is not as issue to me it makes sense to play as high as possible as long as I feel somewhat +EV. Unfortunately, since I don't have a huge sample yet to prove I am winning I just have to trust my coaches and friends who are winning that say my game is good enough.

Makes sense. You are defintely one of the tougher Regs to play against at 50z. Gl with moving up to 100z!

Weekly Update

Pretty swingy week. Played a bit of 100z to start the weekend, but didn't run that well.




My plan is to continue to play 100z this week and I will share my March results and April goals next week as I still have a day to play.

i strongly recommend you to change to Partypoker, you pay soooooo much rake as i see,
and partypoker is 100% the better choice for you and your volume, believe me!
Even when you have a downswing week or month, at least you get a looot of rakeback with your volume!

I get what you are saying, but there is more to it than that. #1 The rake is actually higher at Party for cash games. I would get more rewards so the effective rake is lower, but it's not as big of a difference as you might think. #2 Stars is a lot softer than Party. Therefore, what I make in rakeback I might lose back in competition. #3 At the times I play Party has really low volume. I like what they are doing don't get me wrong. It just doesn't make sense for me to switch right now.

I finally had a good week! Let's hope it continues in April. I also tried experimenting a bit with regular tables. Not sure how I feel about them yet.




I hit my volume goals for March, but still not quite the results I'm looking for. At least I'm back in the green.

I will be in Vegas this week, so my volume might be a bit lower this month. I'm really going to try and focus on game selection and play when the pool is the best. If 100 doesn't look great I'll still play some 50.

Weekly Update

I just got back from my Vegas trip so time for an update. I did not get to play that much volume since I left on Wednesday.




I had a really good time in Vegas. I was there for a security convention for my business. When I had time to play I mostly played at Aria. It seems like City Center is the place to be these days, so the games were always great. At Table 1 there was always a game going. The lineups always looked pretty good. I wish I could've played. The screen said open seat, but I'm sure it was more of a private game as I saw two people get denied who wanted to play with them. I played once at the new Wynn/Encore room and it was definitely the nicest room but by far the most regs. I played mostly 1-3 and some 2-5 and booked a small win for the week. Other than poker I only saw one show this year and it was KA. I enjoyed it. Cirque du Soleil is always good.






Now back to the online grind!
