yeah pretty much. Before leaving for SA in March, I was having no life really in Canada. Just grinding in the winter, going to the gym, playing some pick up hockey every now and then, that's it. Then, March through late June was pretty much just going out, chasing girls, and enjoying life. Too much of a good thing is not great. I was getting sick of this lifestyle, which in the end, got me sick for like 3 weeks lol.

But otoh, atm, I'm getting bored of this monk-like way of living and am kind of eager on going back abroad, etc.

The way I see it:

- When in Canada: discipline, work, cautious about money, routine, no alcohol, no drugs, no bars, eat healthy, etc

- When abroad: be social, get out of my comfort zone, try new things, drink alcohol, use drugs, not care abt spending, live like a baller, go out as much as I can.

The only thing I keep doing while abroad is staying fit (going to gym) and I also try to keep eating healthy.

Decent year, but didn't manage to break into high stakes yet. I got crushed at 2k, but small sample. Still happy w my progress. 500z going good, but I'd like to move out of the pool at some pt and only be playing 1k+... Ohh well, still lots of work to be done, but did improve heaps I feel like.


Irl, I've been in Lima for over a month now. Such an underrated city; the food is amazing as well. Spent the holidays in Peru w some poker friends. First time spending holidays w/o family. Was awesome, I don't regret anything. However, ever since I've arrived here, my poker hasn't been going too great, mostly because I've been degening a bit too much. I've been on the girls and drugs grind kind of a lot for the last month. It's good, but it's not sustainable and most definitely minus EV for poker.

I'm flying to Rio tomorrow w my friend ggbruce. Really like Brazil, happy to go back. I think I'll take a break from all the distractions while there (or at least try) and focus on poker like I do when I'm back home in Canada.

My best results always come when I'm back home and doing nothing else other than playing, studying and going to the gym. I did that for 5 months straight (July till November) and made most of my year there. It was good, but a bit boring as well tbh.

It's really hard to find the proper balance in poker. I really struggle w it... I always lean too much on one side or the other.

However, I did pick up a few good habits lately. I started meditation, I have a very structured morning routine, am learning Spanish and I've been reading about a book/month.

I plan on traveling up until June probably, then will go back to Canada for summer. After Rio, we're going to Buenos Aires and then most likely back to Brazil. Should be fun. Might do other countries as well in the process.

I'd like to break into high stakes this year, but I think that while I'm traveling, it will be hard. Atm, I'm mostly focused on plugging life leaks (anxiety, social and confidence issues, etc) and there is no better time to do that than while traveling w friends. So maybe it would be best for me to just focus on these irl issues while grinding 500z mindlessly up until June, then when I comeback, focus on 1k+? Idk, I'd like to do both at the same time time, but geez, rly tough, takes a lot of discipline.. ugh...

I've also been a 500z reg ever since March 2017... nearly 2 years at the same stake feels more or less like a beat... meh

Anyways, I'll think about all this in the next few days or so. Can't complain too much, my life has been nothing short of awesome ever since I've arrived in Lima. And it will probably only get better has the year progresses.

Tbh trying to break into 1k+ by battling everyone on stars is not always the smartest choice even though it's fun as hell. Just because linus did it, doesn't mean its the correct route. Setting up script for all the sites and then gradually starting to battle some lineups to get tables is probably the gto route imo. Even if one were to crush the battles, it just increases variance so much, which is not something you really wanna do when taking shots.
