I try to explain my thought process some whilst knowing it will often be partially or completely incorrect at times at this stage of trying to learn.

Tomorrow is big day for challenge, hit 1 month mark on challenge and will cross first 10k hands on new setup. Should be close to break even at nl25 now which puts me at decent progression with 5 months left to go. Will be a cool update after session tomorrow.

was a close one but still in the red on first 10k hands on new setup. still have a lot of work to do and stats still suck I'm flatting too much from button (from opens) and from bb. going to implement rules with much less flexibility over next 10k and see if that pushes me over the top.

small number of nl50 hands when I needed top pop tables open if volume was low during part of sessions.

going to compare first 10k hands in thread to current 10k then will also sum up the nl25 so far over this first month.

FIRST 10k hands itt

Most Recent 10k

***Still down -$955 over now 46000ish hands at nl25, I should hit 100k hands within the next month and if I can turn things around to +5bb/100 total I will start playing more nl50. So that is the immediate goal over the next 30 days of challenge, I think it is attainable but will be very difficult, I still have a lot of large issues I am fixing, one the largest at the moment being the need to exploitatively just fold a lot of spots that this pool is underbluffing.

Bleh second photo all tiny. Basically lost 5 bis over this 10k which came down to a few not great sessions. Won small in small nl50 sample. New stats on setup are 26.55-18.25-8.66 compared of the 33.8-22.0-12 of first 10k. Would like to get Vpip slightly lower and pfr slightly higher.

Will post some hands from today sometime tomorrow.

Stuck in break even land last few sessions due in part to trying to force too many bluffs lately some good some bad but most being snapped off regardless. Def need to cut back on those over weekend.

some quick hands from last few sessions

H1)On the surface my flop jam here has to look ***** horrendous and maybe it is but I have thousands of hands with this V and only time hes min clicked back an ep open that I've !3 pre he had KK...he just never sizes like this. When I min click back and he doesn't jam I largely eliminate even the possibility of AKs. My thoughts otf are he has to call if off w/KK w/the str draw and I'll be blocking 2 of his 6 outs and in super unlikely scenario he has AA he should fold as I will have AKs and QQs here more often. In retrospect it's still probably terrible to range him so tightly and he could snap and show up w/QQ/AK. So yeah I think I played hand very badly and V somehow played it worse.

H3)This is a weird one. Possibly would just fold to his !3 pre but when the extra $ gets in there I have to call with a hand thats going to play well and position. When he x turn I think he has a lot of non ace pairs and every KQs that flopped backdoor flsh draws w/gutter. I feel like I have all the Ax here as well as the sets of T and 7. I felt like my line was fine I sized to have a psb jam on rivers I hit or miss on. Cant see him having KJ as played unless its exactly KJ clubs. His actual hand unblocks broadway combos I could have floated flop w/on the gutter so yeah idk why I get snapped with essentially a total bluff catcher other than maybe he blocks the actual nuts but thats not really what I rep here so I dont think that matters?

Tired of running flat and I feel like I have the main issue figured out that’s holding me back. I can play an entire session well and profitably for hours then lapse on 3-5 hands and just play terrible lines that are super easy to identify afterwards. I’m not sure if it’s just tiny spurts of anxiety in certain hands, certain board textures/configurations, frustration, or just mental fatigue/losing focus. I would say these spots are split pretty evenly between bad call lines and bad bluff lines.

Its a lot harder to identify and fix than something like just a general or progressive tilt bc it occurs in such tiny portions of time in large samples of certain sessions but wrecks my bottom line overall. Today I will collect as many of these spots as I can find and look for commonalities that could explain what initiates the poor process in these hands.

Going to be hyper vigilante over sat-sun to try to eliminate these spots altogether but I’ll post any that come up. I suspect these spots could be results oriented on a session like if I know I’m down small on a session I might bluff a spot that I normally would not and if I’m up I might make an overly ambitious call. For this reason the other big change I’ll be making this week is to ignore results until the end of day. If this works well for me I might ignore until end of each week.

bleh brutal Saturday for me, worst day yet at nl25 think I lost little over 7bi. actually was happy with how I played overall just wrecked by coolers and gii good a lot of spots to lose and/or chop. todays results likely doomed chance to pull ahead this 10k so it's probably on to the next one. still not feeling any crunch on challenge yet as I have just under 5mo left, however it is frustrating that I feel I'm still making improvements but now getting smacked with some bad variance and distribution.

been getting in a lot of volume so will probably just power it out to the 100k hands at nl mark and post big update on where I land. still not going to move to nl50 until I have a 50k hand stretch of at least 5bb/100 nl25 so tons of work to be done.

I will post some interesting hands from over weekend after tomorrows session.

started digging out today from a big legitimate downswing of about 20bi over the last week. whole lot of coolers and some insane bad variance on run outs. taking some steps to stim the bleeding and reverse course.

dug through stats and see that over this downswing my redline has noticeably plummeted. I attribute this to having lost some confidence and not opening some spots I should, not 3 and 4 betting some spots I should, not range betting flops I should, and either/and/or not bluffing spots I should or choosing poor bluff candidates that are getting picked off to frequently.

to address these problems I am cutting back to 4 tables for this week and really focusing hard on each spot and the proper actions as well as forcing down my VPIP some while increasing my PFR and 3bet ratios.

last week and weekend in particular was a bit of a dark cloud on the challenge so just gonna toss out some hands from todays session that I struggled with

H1)an ugly one from the big blind:main V here is super loose and fairly aggro fish, I thought he had lot of heart draws otf as played but I should have realized I block a lot of those. I play it terrible leading flop I think when it should be an easy check call. I improve ott so then have to xcall larger. on the river his bet confuses me bc I feel like he would x behind most of his Js so I convinced myself he had busted draw (again a bad time to think this given my actual holding)

Just some personal thoughts on your recent HH:

H1) As you said I would check this and not have any leads here. Our nut combos (I guess only 66 and 22) would want to take a check raise line more often so when you lead here you're pretty capped.

H2) Preflop is normally a 4-bet but call is fine depending on opponent, flop should consider a raise for protection, and as played you just have to stack off here. Cooler...

H3) GTO preflop solutions will fold JTo against a HJ opening range but as played pretty standard, maybe donk small OTT? I think BB has the Tx advantage here.

H4) If only online poker had these villains all day! lol. What other hands are you overbet jamming here? You shouldn't make this move against a competent opponent. Sometimes ill fold jacks pre here as well (yea pretty nitty but its an ugly spot that happens in 6-max)

H5) Nice hand! Again, if only online poker had these villains all day....

Thx! Yeah I only run into someone tilting like that (h1+h2) maybe 1 hour of a session per week or something and I just try to gii in as many spots as they want. Hit one last night another reg who was super tilted, I just grossly over pushed some bigger pairs in two hands on super wet boards and he called off with tiny underpairs.

*playing well but still fighting variance. Got in over 3000 hands yesterday at -17bb/hour with EV all the way up at +7bb/hr! I open jammed QK on a K97Q turn 2 spades on board and dude just flicked in his last 60 bigs with AT no fd to hit the J river. Funny hand on another one pot got bloated multi-way and we Gii w/Q9hh on a T7J flop w/2 hearts, V has K9 off w/backdoor club draw we both bricked and he won like 250bb pot K high sigh.

Gonna put lot of volume in this weekend and will post stats on month so far after weekend.

Looks like a pretty terrible table, fold pre though unless you have a specific reason to be calling.

This is ACR, most of the nl25 regs are in the 19-20 VPIP range and this was a Thursday so it’s about best to be had. Your probably right just fold pre, I think it’s not terrible to flat or 3bet this exact hand on button some small % though.

was a really solid day today, kept my stats right where I wanted them, most my bluffs got through, and got good value in a lot of spots.

I'm playing so much volume now each day that these spots just happen to me every day:with the NFL rules this is sort of like V recovering onside kick

Not terrible, but probably not +ev. Other Axs are fine, A6s is a fold.

edit.

H2 - Fold flop.

H3 - Calling pre isn't too bad, but pls don't x/jam flop ever.

Hey man nice challenge. Fwiw your W$WSF looks pretty low at 42 in the first 10k posted above then 39 in the most recent 10k. Should be more in the 45-48 range. In loose games with more multi-way pots that number will always go down but it will be hard to win at 6-max where you’re at. Part of that is a function of you still calling a little too much pre, and your 3-bet could be a little higher (10-11%), but the rest is postflop play. Cbet at 44 is pretty low. So that’s one place you could be fighting for a few more pots. Other things to look at would like be how often you check raise flops as bb, how much you might be over folding some spots that could be raised or called in general, are you finding enough bluffs in spots it’s hard to bluff, etc. GL

H2)Fold or 3bet probably better but absolutely can’t flat button with this if folding to 1/2 psb cbet in position w/backdoor str+fd on non A+K+Q board.

H3)I think the $ just goes in regardless but I agree I played it crappy post where I should be letting him get more $ in in unlikely event he is behind.

Thx, working on a lot of the things you mentioned. I am over folding some spots that I think are call/raise like you said though. I’ve been getting called a ridiculous % when opening SB into BB even though I’m 3x open...then I’m oop with say Q9hh on a 744 2 spade flop and I X and they pretty much always bet and I’m oop vs huge range w/no redraw and hard to rep anything so I x-fold a ton of these flops bvb after opening. I know the obvious answer is to range bet 1/4-1/3 on lot of flops but feel like bb still playing back at me a lot on any texture their range>mine. That and bb play (which is improving) are my biggest weaknesses at the moment I think.
