About me, Im 26 years old , playing poker for around 6 years now, no success on-line , live games however i believe im doing a pretty good job. The last year or so i started to take my live game more serious. Started at $1/2 , and now am comfortable playing $2/5.

Im not a pro or full time poker player. I do have a job and a girlfriend in real life.So i mostly play around 15~hours a week.Most my play is done at Horseshoe hammond and maybe couple times a month at charitable games if they are close.

Reading a lot of threads regarding bankrolls,winrates etc.... got me thinking that there is very limited information on live poker , winnings ,swings bankroll.Lots of people with a small sample size etc.

That got me motivated to start a poker goal/challenge for live play.
And so , the details.....

Goal:
As stated in title $10k by the end of the year, not $10k profit but $10k bankroll.Starting bankroll will be $3k , no i am not leaving my job or anything like that. But I read a lot that people who play $1/2 like taking shots at $2/5 with less, and people that play $2/5 part-time say around 10-15 buyins. I will replenish bankroll anytime I deem necessary.

Thats about 16 weeks till NYE, at around 15~hours a week looking about 240 hours. To get my $7k profit , i would have to avg $30/hour .Most of 2+2 threads state that $2/5 pros make around $30-50 , so I'll see how I stand as a part-timer.I do use poker journal , so i keep track of all stats.

My 1st session will most likely be tomorrow , as i cant go tonight.

Finally! I love live poker more than sliced bread.

Hope you keep this challenge going as it will give us some insight to the live poker world us online players sometimes forget.

I started live and miss it tremendously, unfortunately live games require a bit higher bankroll than what I have available right now. (At least when using proper Bankroll Management).

1st Update:

Two weeks went by since the beginning of this post and well i still have my roll.Played more than i expected , total of about 45 hours and one tournament. Tournament was a $60 buyin 40 people , chopped 3 way i got $650 from it cause i was chip leader.

Best session: +$1275
worst: -$2000 (dont ask)
total won with tournament : $1780
total cash game : $1280
bankroll: $4780
avg/hour cash games : $28.52

so far looking good , and on pace. Would be better without the $2k loss in one session , I could have got up and left being down $1k , but decided to stay and "gamble" (worst mistake so far)

Set a stoploss for yourself to protect yourself from those -4buyin days

i usually only take $1200 with me and set that to stoploss, the -4 buyin day , well that was not necessary but it happened , oh well
