Tough first 4 levels. Very card dead and an aggro table. Lost a small 4b hand with JJ when got open shoved on flop. Couple other small non showdown losses. Won a hand just before break to get to 17k from 15 starting.

Grabbed some painkillers at the break as have a bit of a headache. Water and chocolate will solve.

Another three levels down and looking at 13.7k going to 600bb. All ins are becoming frequent round the table so hoping to pick up a decent spot to pick off a short stack or get involved myself. Table next to us is having huge turnover with people dropping like flies. Going to be some big stacks there!

Good 4 levels for us, up to 65k. Been moved to the main stage. Headache gone! 80 left, playing to 42 and everyone who comes back tomorrow is ITM.

We're through to day two! Bagged 62300 which should be around 25bb depending on what blind level we roll back to.

Felt like a really solid day, couple big pots went our way, could have had a few more chips at the end but a few things didn't go out way. First couple hours tomorrow will be key to try look for spots to get into a position to make a run at this.

In a taxi home for some much needed sleep!

I agree, these days I just need stuff easy on the brain. Every other minute is spent on work or poker so it has to rest occasionally...

Had a chat with my online MTT backer over the weekend and I discussed wanting to play some 6max cash during the week because I just don't have the time to put into MTTs during the week. If I can get an hour or two in after work that keeps my hand in the game and might make us a little profit on the side.

Had a good first session this evening:

We had a guy on our table who was just aching to give away money which was a good chunk of the profit.

I did also play some other hands but nothing too interesting. I have tor eport back to my backer every 5k hands so will do so, hopefully we can move up quite quickly and make some good side income during the week and grinding MTTs at the weekends when I'm able to.

In other news just found out today that my busy season at work is being extended another 10 weeks as I'm being moved on to another project as my current one is coming to an end. Fought pretty hard not to be on it as I'm needed to carry on where I am but big company politics is making it difficult. Not much more I can do but suck it up and do it. Going to be based away from my base office which is annoying as this is where my gym is. I think the plan will be to head here after working on client site, go to the gym, play poker and head home.

I've been working on a live poker calendar for a schedule of events I might play this year, all in the £550 and under category. I'm sure I've missed loads but there is plenty on there to keep me busy if I can keep selling.

A weekend very much of two halves! Had a great Friday night with these two reprobates:

I definitely did not cash out this many chips at the end of the night but still made a nice little bit after taxis and copious amounts of beer. I let myself have a night on the booze after a tough couple months on a long project at work.

Collapsed into bed around 5-6 am from what I can piece together from my Uber receipts...

Had an awesome Saturday celebrating my birthday a little early.

Hit the club quite hard, 5 magnums of V was a little excessive....

But we managed to see them off by closing.

Spent Sunday working unfortunately but got a short online cash session in in the evening and won a buyin or two.

Starting a new project at work this week, 10 weeks long and it isn't going to be pleasant. Will try get some poker in in the evenings where possible.

Bit of a life update. Went to look at a place with the GF last night, it was absolutely beautiful. Lots of space, an office to work/play poker in, great location etc. Hoping to move in on Sunday evening after spending the weekend in the country. Only downside is that there is no parking but we can keep the car where we are now, it's only 10 mins away so not too bad.

The new project is kicking off and looks like I'm going to be kept pretty busy. Still going to try and get poker in in the evenings in the office.

On the poker front I'm approaching my first 5k hand milestone and will post results then.

Hey PG also live in fulham (putney) mostly playing 1/1 live at aspers once a week and online 2nl, 5nl working on my game mid week, been thinking about changing to 1/2 empire but still sit with 100 (due to BR) and just accept being the shorty. sounds like games are juicer and the 10% rake at 1/1 aspers is a joke. what do you think ?

Hi! Good to hear from you, always nice to hear from someone in a similar situation.

I guess my first question is why do you go all the way to Aspers? 1/1 rake is a joke, I would only recommend it for drunken laughs with friends on a Friday or Saturday, not as a long term plan. 1/2 is good but the games can play quite big, playing with 100 will limit your winnings a bit but will make your decisions a lot easier.

Definitely a good idea to keep playing online as getting the volume in will certainly help you improve.

Regarding bankroll, I would try and save a bit every month, put something aside apart from your regular savings towards a bankroll (or budget) that lets you play 1/2+ without worrying about going busto.

cheers, agree with all of this, the original reason was because it was the only place that ran regular 1/1 but now me and my buddy have worked out its actually bad for us and the games aren't amazing either.

you will probably see us shot taking in the 1/2 at empire in the near future.

There is also always a 1/1 at the Vic and on Friday/Saturday evenings (maybe more often) at the G near Leicester Square.

Yeah just wanted to chime in on this too since I've played 1/1 at Aspers a few times as of late.

I've come to the conclusion that the 10% rake is nowhere near justifiable for the large majority of 1/1 games that run there. It would likely be higher ev to half stack 1/2. I'm still questioning why it's so popular with regs at dead times of the week.

The only time I could see it being reasonable is on a Friday if you're on an extremely good table and very deep since the cap is £5 at 1/1 instead of £10 at 1/2 but even then the 1/2 and up games are going to be great at that same time period too.

Anyway gl shot taking 1/2
