Nice pwin. Are you going to sell action for WSOP or just yolo and have 100% of yourself?

Nothing beats that feeling of having 2-3k in front of you in a 1/2 game. Only had it a few times but sure feels good to have those reds piled everywhere

For once in my life i can honestly say studying is going well. I got a kickass coach. Live is almost paying the bills; work is helping.

Lol thanks trob, the pWin is real!!! I will be selling action for WSOP. I already sold out for the first event i'm playing (employees) and will probably have enough friends to sell 30-50% in anything else I play. If you had any interest, I can let you know when I'm selling.

P-man,

I wish you all of the best. However, most of your hh's are an absolute mess. I personally would advise not playing 1k tourneys until you can at least prove yourself at the 1/2 level as it is highly questionable as to if you are +ev in these tourneys and firing a gnote a pop and playing a -ev lottery is going to put an absolute shitload of downward pressure on your bankroll.

how many hours of play do you have at 1/2 NLH in las vegas
how much have you won/lost

My HHs are a mess because my memory is garbage. My coaches and backers believe i'm +EV in the WSOP fields i've been playing in, and i agree. I've been spending alot of time studying.

Let me check my poker income app...

I have a small sample. 70 hours at 1/2 and i'm up $2,270.
66 hours at 1/3 and i'm up $225.

With work and my general insomnia / "laziness", I haven't played nearly as much as I should be. I appreciate your input, as I know you have my best interests in mind. Thanks squid.

pman, one of the biggest hurdles to cross is to be able recognize when there's a low likelihood of someone bluffing

i'm not saying that these were obvious "they clearly had it" spots since we're getting simplified retelling but in order to elevate your game, or at least start playing well where hobbyists/casuals aren't entering (the 1k range will have plenty of degens and well healed casual players but your average financially successful dentist who think's he's good at poker from his monthly home game will play a lower amount simply because he gets the same fix playing a $200 mtt)

ie that KJs hand

you just sat down, villain has no read on you but you appear to be on the looser side of things given you played 2/2 of your first hands

you then called a raise on the turn, indicating you're invested in this hand

then all the draws came in on the river, the flush came in and you checked

you're not bluffing so there's no bluff catching bet for him

if you missed and he wins then he has every incentive to check back and take it down with AT vs your A high which folds vs lose stack vs your flush/boat/trips which calls

89 comes in
flush comes in
Jx becomes trips
set becomes boat

no draws missed and you opened oop, so at worst you have something like ATs

you have the absolute bottom of any calling range for a shove here

now we can't rule out that he's an idiot (or an extremely high level player) capable of making an unorthodox move, but chances are he's neither

so he's nearly never bluffing here and he is almost always giving you credit for a good hand

but having said that, with SPR of 1 and no read it's really tough to fold here, which is why we have the old adage of fold pre out of position to avoid these situations

Hey man. I really appreciate your post.

I agree; it's the very bottom of our calling range, if that. Alot of hands get there. I'm not sure he's giving us credit for a good hand, but i would say his bluffing frequency is extremely low in this spot. You say fold pre OOP to avoid this; I can't really do that. This hand from whatever spot i was (LJ or MP? i think i say in the vlog?) is an open. I can't help if someone who has position on me calls. I can't tighten up a GTO opening range because i might have to play some pots OOP, but i think i understand what you're saying in general.

yeah reading it now it's a bunch of word salad at times but appreciate you powering through and getting general gyst

and yes i'm happy to play KJs from mp/lp or even dare I say EP from time to time, I'm one of the looser players to ever dip their toes in the strat threads and am often the lone voice advocating call or raise where the other three said check/fold etc

i'm genuinely not critiquing your play specifically, I don't know enough about you to generalize your play style, but my own results in playing hands like KJs from lp/mp increased dramatically once i was able not make it an automatic play but an occasional one

it's a tough spot, i think villian maybe has a weaker J (or just spewing) <25% but again with an SPR of one it could possibly be argued to play KJ and fold trip J to a pot sized bet on river would be an extreme overfolding leak - what I'm saying is that while I'd like to think I'd look at my position and stack size and open fold KJs there most of the time, I can still see myself occasionally playing it and getting exact same result

I'm with you, and I agree for the most part. It wasn't a fun spot to be in and I didn't like either of my options on the river. Idc about word salad, I appreciate you taking the time to give me feedback (even if it's a little jumbled ;P )
