I'm not a doctor.

Maybe you want to ask your doctor about Ambien, if you haven't already.

It is the only thing that's helped me with my insomnia. It's meant to be short for term use, so if your insomnia occurs once an month for 4 days or so, it might be an idea.

I'm always talking with my doctor, and I appreciate the advice. I think Ambien would conflict with a current medication unfortunately. It's either sleep or tics. We're looking into alternatives.

I'd be surprised if anyone is able to make more than minimum wage at 1/2 in Vegas unless played exclusively graveyard shift. Good luck though I don't think it'll work out well in the end.

Thank you. I made enough playing 1/2 to pay my first couple months rent. Trying to plug a few leaks and move up asap.

You didn't make anywhere near that much -- you just happened to win that much.

What you made was your hourly x the number of hours you played.

True; my mistake. Thank you.

Personally I'd just suggest table starting .5/1 and .25/5 (plo is prolly easier competitition though don't know how good you are at that vs. nl) on wsop as you're very likely just to play against not good players and if you are better at them at hu you're just so much more likely to win at a sustainable and better winrate than at 1/2 live.

HU vs. bad players is pretty easy to have 10-20bb/100 winrate whereas live you'll only get 25 hands an hour and I don't think there is any game in the world anymore where you'll have a sustainable 30bb/100 at full ring. Maybe you could grease the floor and they'll text you when super drunk dudes are playing but I don't think playing less than 5/10 live is worth it as a profession. I would think that if you just bum hunted .5/1 online it's possible to make 50k/year but 35k/year is prolly the max you'll make at 2/5 live in vegas.

Just my 2cents fwiw.

That's not a bad idea. I'm not "great" at HU. I could do some studying...thank you for your 2 cents, I appreciate everyones feedback

I don't understand why you prefer a 4bet in that spot. What do you think villain's range is when he 3bets you?

Regarding the opening size, it's hard for me to fathom that 1/2 players won't call at least 5x raises. In general, 1/2 players will call (relatively) larger raises than in bigger games simply because the dollar amounts are so small. Ie in a nitty 2/5 game 5x can be too large but it's hard for me to fathom that to be the case at 1/2. Psychologically it's just 2 chips either way ($6 or $10) and live low stakes players are anything but disciplined.

In 1/2 games players get very comfortable with play being a certain way. Like in some games players get comfortable playing a huge limpfest and then when a new player comes in and raises, someone is bound to freak out about wanting to see a flop. i choose to play my hands the way I do based on what I think is most profitable, not based on what other players do or what the other players are comfortable with. I actually think getting them out of their comfort zone can yield positive results.

I think you're pulling all those numbers in the 2nd paragraph out of your ass. What is your basis for saying games can't be beat at 30/100, or 35k is ceiling for 2/5?

And yeah, **** $6 opens. 8 min, imo. 10 is better.

I don't know a ton, but I do know at least two things are vital to maximizing winrate:

- table section (moving tables during a session may be necessary)
- playing on the right nights, a rowdy Friday afternoon can be way more $$ than an Tuesday morning

These things dwarf analyzing hands.

Hey Pman have you been going out other than poker at the Sahara? Have you been to any of the breweries in the Arts District on South Main close to you or downtown to Fremont, played at the GN yet?

Honestly I've played at Sahara for like 70% of my time, especially since I got settled in March. I am going to start playing more at Caesars and Aria when I get a scooter or its not a million degrees out.

I want to check out the GN 1/2 uncapped game; that sounds like a ton fo fun. I haven't been to any breweries in the arts district. I did go to Ellis Island, which was fun.
