Hello everyone!

My name is James Urbanic, better known as "PmanPrays" online (a combination of poker maniac and my love for God). In February of 2021 I decided it was time to move out of my parents basement and chase the dream. I am currently living in Las Vegas, I just signed a 1yr lease last week. I couldn't be happier. I have been making videos of my story, and plan to continue to do so.

My goal is to turn the game I love so much into a sustainable lifestyle. I want to make at least $35,000 a year. I'm a small stakes grinder right now, both online and live, and both cash and MTTs.

I'm so excited to see what this chapter of my life has in store for me. I hope to see you guys at the tables!

How hard was it to get the apartment? Just wondering as you moved to be a poker player.

Pman:

If I recall correctly, you said that you were going to try and get a business going? What type of business?

When it comes to poker, do you have a specific strategy or edge that you are trying to exploit? Do you ever chase bonuses?

Are there many bad beat jackpots in Vegas?

TIA

A business going? I wonder who you are and what i spoke about. I've always had good feelings about starting a business / pitching ideas. I have a few ideas, but nothing i'm pursuing atm.

I haven't chased bonuses, but I might start grinding cash at places that offer freerolls. When it comes to specific strategy or edges, I'm just playing my game to the best of my ability. I'm always reading and studying.

Honestly for me it was harder than normal as I'm a first time renter with no credit. I had a good realtor though and found the perfect place

TO quickly answer your question, i plan to play full time and i never went to college. (anxiety and i didnt need a degree to pursue what i want to do with life)

Figured I’d put this here. Look forward to the video.

As far as college your still young, you can do whatever you want if you put the effort in, well maybe not start in the NBA but you get my point.

As far as the anxiety of college, figure anyone that deal with anxiety to grind up a stake, move to Vegas and make a go at it where there main source of income is poker can deal with college.

Hey man thanks alot. It's rendering now. Feels like a boring 10mins of me blabbing, but as I get better in front of the camera and more creative i know my vlogs will improve. I was really hoping to start in the NBA but I guess i'll stick to poker.

Will post when vid is uploaded in ~30mins ty for the support

Niceee. I admire how honest and open you are in these vlogs. This is definitely the most interesting story in the vlogger space right now. You'll probably get some crap for the vlog "quality" but an honest story beats a bunch of bad music and b-roll footage any day imo.

Thank you for much for the kind words. I do take pride in my ability to be open and honest when it comes to living life. I see no reason to deceive people or tell a false narrative; I am who I am, and I can only grow.

As to quality, I agree lol. My first couple of vlogs had some cheesey background music and b-roll footage, but that takes more time and effort when editing / filming. I'm trying to find my style, and I think practice makes perfect. I'm having fun with it, and the fact that i'm getting a few hundred views per video makes me very happy. Thanks for your support.

March Madness tourney is starting tomorrow, grind the cash games like crazy this weekend. In normal times the first weekend of March Madness is arguably the best weekend of poker all year. Super busy and a lot of soft spots. Only exception maybe weekends of the WSOP when the big low buyin tourneys such as the Milly Maker are going on.

Haha yes i'm very excited to be on the grind this weekend. Probably playing the $300 satty to the 1.6k 1Mil tomorrow and friday, other than that cash games. Any preference on casino? I'm sure the 1/3 games are similar everywhere.

Pman:

When you are young, it is important to get education/training/experience.

At first, when you said you've not graduated, I thought that was an incredibly bad mistake. HOWEVER, the more I think about it, your particular situation MIGHT be an exception?

I think college/university CAN be very important...for a variety of reasons. Unfortunately, it has become INCREDIBLY expensive, so you've just got to be so careful. You've also got to be careful about what you study. Some things, there is just no market demand for. So you wind up spending an incredible amount of money AND wasting your time and energy.

If you aren't going to university, I would get myself into a situation where I am learning a skill and or trade. Could be plumbing, electrical, business, sales, real estate, cooking, something.

I would ALSO commit to going to the library and studying at least 1 solid afternoon per week (or time equivalent).

The other thing that is of ABSOLUTE critical importance, is to grow AND protect your bankroll. Make it grow EVERY month. Make it grow EVEN if you have deliver pizza 2-3 nights a week.

It is easiest to grow your bankroll when you are young. You have more time and energy. You have less obligations. Now is the time for you to put the time in and make the $$$.

Once you've got about 6 months bankroll set aside, then I would suggest that you start investing. Learn more about stocks and valuation. You are going to make a LOT of mistakes, especially at first. That is OK, better to make a mistake for $1,000 in your twenties and learn from it. Get started with a cash trading account. Put money into it EVERY month, even if it is only $200 or $300. After a year of that, start up an IRA. Put money into that IRA every month.

Live on less than what you earn.

Watch & marshal your capital carefully.

I've run business(es) most of my adult life. I've had some success and a lot of difficulties. Looking back, one of my biggest mistakes was rarely having enough liquid capital. THIS IS OF CRITICAL IMPORTANCE. I simply can't stress that enough.

Try different things!

Work hard.

Make money.

Learn, network and make friends.

HAVE FUN!

Good luck!

I agree. My sister went to college and got a degree because the job she wanted and the future she wanted to live required it. For me to be happy and do what I want to do, I do not need a college degree.

I never stop educating myself. I listen to ~1 audiobook a week and was reading physical books until I moved. I love to study and educate myself in topics such as sociology, psychology, philosophy, religion, poker, business, money, etc...I think it is good to always expand your horizons.

I definitely agree with investing and growing your bankroll. I am invested in bitcoin, and when I have a minute / a few more dollars I'm looking to put some into stocks as well.

I'd be curious to hear more about your businesses, what worked and didn't work for you, and any advice you could give.

Cheers thanks for the support

Thank you!

For $1/$3 cash my advice would be jump around and find the place you like. I personally hate the B so much it impacts my game but it’s probably the most consistently soft $1/$3 game in town. It’s also probably the smallest one. I’d also even give the Orleans a try, sometimes those locals are full of gamble. I know in years past Aria waitlist would get crazy the weekend of March Madness. Aria also tends to be the most reg heavy full of low stakes grinder. Don’t get into the habit of playing there if you recognize everyone at the table. Check Bravo and call in advance before going anywhere.

This is the weekend to grind, sleep Monday, Tuesday. Good luck!

Don't dismiss 1/2 just because it's a "lower level". Where I play (not in Vegas) the 1/2 is as big as typical 1/3 games and at times is bigger than any 1/3 game in Vegas.

I recall Planet Hollywood having a 1/2 that could play quite big. Golden Nugget's 1/2 game is uncapped.

In terms of 1/3 games, Wynn's is the deepest. I would imagine it's probably the toughest for that reason (although it's hard for me to comment on the softness or difficulty of a 1/3 game).
