How and why this challenge was made

Im 20 from Scotland, have a full time job, made my first deposit and playing for real money a few weeks before i turned 19, went from having no money no job at 18, didn’t have much qualifications from school it was horrible times, to finally getting a basic office job. First wage i made a small deposit on a poker/casino site to play poker. The first small downswing and i just went and dumped of the money in frustration. The following months pay i made 2 small deposits and managed to get of to a good start ran well and cashed out all the money i had ever deposited as soon as i could and a little more so i was playing with profit. I then played aggressive with my roll with a lot of confidence playing what i felt like playing and within a few weeks i had around $4000 in my account...fish on a major heater, i went from no money no job then within a couple of months i had $4000 online and money saved from my job, and i cashed out $2000 leaving me with 2k online and a couple of thousand in my bank, i had never had this amount of money to my name before and it all happened maybe a bit to quick for me and i thought “i will never be broke again..”. Anyway with my 2k roll online i tried not to but i did occasionally dabble in roulette like 2 or 3 spins at the end of a session of poker and no major loses, and then something i didn’t think i was capable of, thought i had more control of my self at the time but i busted by roll online within a few minutes of madness on roulette, i was still up a decent amount at the time from the site i thought but it was sick to throw away what i had online. i stopped playing on the site for a while and my savings in my bank was dwindling as it was a low paid job and slowly with other expensive i had at the time i soon found myself busto! blowing what i had left on a lads holiday last year!.

Throughout 2011 i was working full time a small wage and i became a serial depositor on stars started of me trying to run a roll up very fast as thats how i had in the past, so i deposited around $250 on stars jumped into playing $16+ sngs soon realised stars had much better players and there wasn’t too much fish compared to where i previously played on so busted it quickly. Then over time i had made a few small deposits maybe just $10 sometimes $100 and i would play for a while and ether break even for a spell then get frustrated and dump it, or i would hit a small downswing after consistently winning then dump it in frustration. Im really really good and running up a roll consistently over a period of time then dumping it without cashing out therefore wasted all that time. Turns out iv deposited onto stars around $1200 in the last 18 months which has really effected my confidence and its a horrible monkey i want to get of my back!, i attempted to clear this a while ago started with $100 trying to turn it into $10,000 but i got it up to $1600 over a few months then dumped it off with out making cashouts, such a fish. So iv since then found out im $1200 in the red on stars and want to cash out $1500 so can i get the monkey of my back and get on with my life. Im going to start of very small but make regular cashouts! Instead of trying to run up a roll really big then make one big cash out, im going to try and make around 5 or 6 small ones to try and clear this.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------

The challenge

I am breaking this challenge into 5 stages, one reason is if i fail at stage 3 or 4 ill of still cashed out.

STAGE 1
Turn $10 to $200 then cash out $100

STAGE 2
With the remaining $100 turn it to $400 then cash out $200

STAGE 3
With the remaining $200 turn it to $600 then cash out $300

STAGE 4
Turn the $300 to $800 then cash out $400

STAGE 5
Turn the $400 to $1,000 then cash out $500

If i ever complete stage 5 i will of cashed out $1500 and be in the black on stars also leaving a roll online if i chose to play with after.

I will only stick to micro stake sngs for the duration of the challenge will stay away from all other tourys or cash games. I will start at the $0.10 360man turbos and play no higher than the 4.50 180's.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Outside of poker

I will have some goals for fitness

Also planning on finding a 2nd job in my area

I also plan on leaving home this year will be potentially renting a property with two others later in the year, so i kinda of milestone in my life or whatever you wanna call it.

Might start to learn to drive, not a huge ambition of mine but we will see.

Could be going abroad this year
--------------------------------------------------------------------------

I dont think ill start playing any poker until the start of June so no updates for a while but will try make a quick update every couple of days and put up graphs once a week.

goals in June

[] get a provisional driving license
[] know if im leaving home this year by the end of the month
[] gym/go for a run/play football/general fitness workout, 12 times in the month
[] apply for 3 other jobs, for part time to go along with my current job
[] no betting/gambling, except from playing on stars which i wont deposit onto
[] Have between £2,000 and £2,500 by the end of august, will be tough, so for June put a small chuck away towards this.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

those were non-poker related, as for poker in june.

[] every sunday, tuesday, and thursday make a quick update
[] every friday up date with graphs etc
[] play 600 tournys at least, not a huge volume as i could be pretty busy with a few events outside poker this month so wanted to get a realistic target

br $21.14

been playing just the $0.10 360man turbos, played a smallest session on the 1st finished up a couple of dollars after running ok making i think a couple of final tables, but nothing to big just a bunch of cashes.

today played a decent session played a quite a lot of tourys, played as many of the 0.10 360 man turbos as i could at a time, was kind of running below par but nothing to worry about had a few bubbles or if i made the money i would bubble the final table in a huge pot. had played quite a long session and decided to stop registering for them and finish the tourys i had open (which was about 9), then i ran pretty well and in my last 2 tourys left running i finished 2nd then in my last one got 1st.

Its nice to bink of of those bad boy $0.10 360 mans, now with a bit of a bigger bankroll i think ill leave them for now and dabble in some of the $0.25 sngs when i next play.

br - $35.01

good to get some good results in the $0.25 90mans and 45mans and move up to the $0.50 games, as the $0.25 was non-turbos and although they couldnt be any softer they are to time consuming to its good to move up to the $0.50 games as they are turbos.

going to play the $0.50 45mans, then when im between $40-$50 ill play the 90mans. then over $60 ill start playing some dollar games

Nice goal, gl Are you gonna post graphs/hands? I won't really be able to offer much advice as don't play MTTs or SNGs but I like a bit of colour in a thread lol.

P.S. Hope the lad's holiday was worth it! Ahhh to be 20 again...

ta! yeah i plan putting up graphs just once a week, as im too lazy to do it everyday, not sure on hands yet may wait until im playing at least $2.50 or $3.50 games as at these nano stakes right now there isnt much worth in posting hands i think

ok guys this has really not got going just havent got the time to put in volume, maybe not the best month to start this. Im not a big drinker but recently a few events have come up with friends i havent seen in a while also been to a festival etc it takes me a good few days to fully recover when iv had a drink . Will defiantly get this going a bit more this week, although with the euros on its quite a distraction :P

I really need to get my finger out, i sometimes think i could possibly be the laziest person in the world

Hey sk447 you need to start thinking positive if you plan on hitting your goal. When you sit at a table you have to treat poker like war with the chips being your troops and using the power of religion(playing good cards) to convert other chips into your stack.

positive session over the weekend got things going in the right direction after i was breaking even for a while, back at work on monday and was to tired afterwards to bother to play, gonna just relax tonight and get some rest, for the rest of the week im gonna try play most nights even if im too tired just because its such soft games anyway. After this week im finally on some hard earned hoilday time of work, will be free for about a week and a half so im planning playing a bunch during the time as i always play 10 times better if im well rested and have a couple of days of work etc and can really get in good form.

I know i havent bothered putting im graphs yet as its not the most interesting challenge right now playing such small busto ass stakes but ill put up one i guess once i finish stage 1, I WILL COMPLETE stage 1 in my time of work! right now im not sure exactly but iv built up to around $60 give or take a few cents! Started with $0.10 sngs then moved to the $0.25 games then to the $0.50 games, im gonna be taken some shots at some $1 buy ins and move back to the $0.50 if i go below $50.

To make the thread at least slightly worth reading i guess ill throw in the following
