Posting a hand for some range work. I need to get started on utilizing fold equity. Donk betting scary boards would also be something i could work on. Concept after concept, does it ever end? Go back a month and i wasn't squeezing very often, now it's totally std. Go back 2 months and i was cbetting bad boards. After one month i can probably say, "month ago i was never taking advantage of fold equity"
So the reasons why our flush draw is doing great here. Probably most likely hand in villains range is JQ. JsQs is in the board, meaning our spade outs are effective. Other 2-pairs: Q7 J7. Having the 7 means again our spade outs are effective. With Q4 J4 74s 44 (lol) however, the 4 can be a bad card. Villain has 1 combo of 77. 3 combos of 44, of which 2 combos have the 4
Let's assume our villains range is J7 JQ Q7. We assume we have 9 effective outs + position. With implied odds we need to make 29.12$. See his river shove? Great odds.
If hero had A5 on board where villain can have multiple good 2-pairs, that would reduce our effective outs to 7. We would have to make 64.8$ then, + rake meaning our call would be -EV. With 8 outs we would have to make 44.7$ + rake, we can still make it if villain had Q4 here.
If we can put villain on straight (QJ79 board), it also means we have 9 outs. Something to consider also is that, on boards where straight isn't possible, like here QJ74, we can consider 7 to be an effective out vs QJ.
Another note: Given that we have a pair blocker, it reduces combos of Q7s J7s to 2 combos.
So tl;dr summary: Equity of 77 vs (QJ, Q7, J7, 74s, 77, 44): 22.475%. Equity of A 5 vs same range: 18.182%. 78s is easy call + not a lot implied odds needed. A5s actually has decent implied odds too, but it only performs best vs QJ. Implied odds in comparison: 38.6$ vs 13$. Easy money with 7s8s
I've linked it a couple of times. Most of the stuff i post here is quite tl;dr so not quite worth advertising
Thread title is kinda outdated as i'm playing 100nl occasionally now. Maybe next month i create "3500€ challenge". If i would make tree fiddy k i would move permanently to 100nl.
Logged into my Microgaming account to see that i won 25€ from Flip festival. Have to play at least 500 hands so i get some chips for the next and final flip festival.
fml.
Gibraltar is not part of EU customs union, therefore i have to pay VAT for the iPad i won
But 66€ for an iPad mini i guess i can't complain.
Hopefully i bink PS4-tournament on Pokerheaven so i can pay more VAT :P
I don't mind tbh. I learned a lot new from this scenario. At first i was like WTF there has to be a mistake. Since it's a gambling win = no taxes. I will probably make a thread in the finance forum about Gibraltar and ask more information from the wiser ones.
My goals today are fairly simple. GET SH*T DONE, NO EXCUSES and play Blaze poker as reward afterwards.
They are running a promo which can be very +EV. 10nl is probably the only stake that runs. So that means ABC poker + no fancy plays, have to play readless and w/o hud.
Got some stuff done, not the best day productivity wise though. Tomorrow i just have to focus on studies. My procrastination will hit it's peak once again and you can probably expect 50 forum posts, meanwhile i should be studying.
Been playing 10nl blaze, ABC poker no fancy plays as planned. Kinda card dead, been losing :P
Learned a couple of things on the tables too.
1. When board will be a chop we can call vs smaller bet sizings. 89TJQ for example. He will have the K sometimes, but due to pot odds we should be able to call profitable like ½ pot bet. Vs PSB it’s really annoying fold, if we think about our hand profitability ITLR.
2. Don’t bluff vs sets on 4 flush board, you will get called one more street. And don’t think people will fold J-K high flush for one bet.
3. People have big ego on the river, me too. Folding a big hand is ego issue, you just don’t want to get bluffed. People say river xc is the worst line, maybe it’s true.
50€ victory from Microgaming's freeroll all-in shootout. Have won 100€ total from last 3 of these, not bad!
Had 4€ on my account after busting small deposit i made, couldn't withdraw, now i can Same thing at Terminal poker. Had ~5€, double up at 5nl, then I shipped AA PF for 200bb vs KK's. The site uses plain text passwords so i want to have nothing to do with it. +17.90€ profits from that site.
When i'm lazy i play just one table of Party Poker casual cash game. My hourly is pretty good still. At first i was against CCG tables, now i love it.
Gameplay wise, i watched a couple of Internet's videos. Have been doing a ton of weird stuff afterwards, limping buttons, SB etc. but it's all working decently
Played 5 hour session today. Probably 3 tables max. I like to keep amount of tables low when I'm in a learning mode. Was happy that i attempted to get out of my comfort zone. I played vs really loose fish who put me on a lot of tough spots.
Tomorrow i will finish an essay, soon done with this course that has been consuming all my time for a month now Then i will probably go on a study/play routine, applying new stuff into my game. Will also take a holiday at my parents, feels good to relax after all the stress.
Keep forgetting this goal. I accidentally deleted preflop tab from PT4 hud. Now i would have to construct my own, with all the relevant info i need. Also couple of other goals:
Quote:
[ ] Review xr pots
[ ] Review SB steals
Will have oral exam tomorrow on my language studies, after that i have writing exam and i'm done with that ****. for good.
Saturdays are goooood!
Added some new lines into my gameplay in this session, everything worked out well. Bluffed fish 3 times etc. Copied some gameplay from Paul Otto, weird stuff but works.
I wonder what i did to deserve this shove
Only 65%
Need to do a small programming task today.
After that i can play another session.
Small goals:
[ ] Implement donk turn stat for PT4 after villain has donked flop also. So "double-donk" stat.
[ ] Read 3 in-depth posts on SSNL-forums.
Should probably make a habit of posting motivational pictures every once in a while. This one is for not being afraid of change and not caring about short-term results.
I'm really mad at myself for todays graph. I keep my promise and have done a ton of push-ups and other small exercises. No BS whining stupid excuses curiosity calls. NO! You play like **** you deserve ****. If i tilt more i'll be ripped in no time
Summary of the graph: Started well as usual. Things started to not go my way and i ended up making some snap calls, curiosity calls and changing my default gameplay.
I like Disney fairytales. Snow white, Cinderella etc. I had similar good stories today in poker. Good stories how villain will show up with worse hands. Story about a nit check raising multiway with anything worse than the nuts. Not a happy ending!
Anyways i'm happy i tried out some +EV aggressive lines all the way, kept trying to bluff the fish, it's easier than vs regs sometimes!
Posting some hands where i called river just to annoy me more. hopefully i learn something and stop doing it. Or i can keep making good fairytales
h1: bluffs as usual. vs aggressive player but i don't beat enough on the river. he had cbet flop 85% and turn cbet (4/4). i thought that he might just spazz out in order to win the pot.
h2: example why calling is the worst line in poker. has AT AQ maybe QT some of the time, but i think fish would check back more. would be standard line how fish plays QQ
I have massive amounts of time in my hands. I love the freedom
Basically for the rest of the summer, i have do a PHP + MySQL learning task, piss easy. Write 2 essays, my topics are cryptography and online payments, both topics i like. I will also finish a business math course, which is done in a one night, since it's very easy.
If i seem to have too much spare time, here are some things to work on:
[ ] Review spots where hero could DB, put villain on range and see if there is any value on betting
[ ] Review ALL recent spots where you saw flop OOP as 3-bettor.
[ ] Start working on BvB-game. It's like a big project i have to start, won't be done over one night.
Ok. I see i missplayed at least the AK hand. I think i tried to play it tricky even when there's vbet opportunities available. That player should never float the flop given the positions. So he either has a GS or Ax, sometimes Tx.
Made up for yesterdays losses today. Day started with KK > AA and got paid by my boat. Then i put in more solid hours. Trying to have most of my volume at OnGame, in order to hit a bigger VIP status and maybe get something out of a rake race.
Few interesting hands:
h1: not sure if i should float here. I'm last to act on the flop.
Flop:($6.50, 2 players) A T 8 Hero bets $3.00, BTN calls $3.00
Turn:($12.50, 2 players) 8 Hero bets $12.50, BTN calls $10.89 and is all-in
h3: Might have missed a vbet OTR. Kinda afraid of coolers after that downswing, nothing seemed to go my way then. T8 QT got there. Only getting value from KQ. Not guaranteed that KT is calling.
H1 it's very unlikely you need to call from a balance perspective (you need to defend like 15% of your range assuming nobody's expected to have a particularly strong range of the potential callers), don't think you should exploitatively either.
H2 I think you play better against his range by x flop bet turn and river.
H3 vbet if he's bad, it's very close if he's okay but I think we x AK bet AA in that case.
Tomorrow i will develop a new plan and a new mindset. It's good to play aggressive but something needs to change.
Back to the roots i go:
goals:
[ ] quit whining. i deleted lengthy post i made but it was just self-pity BS.
[ ] stop bluffing. don't bluff fish
[ ] stop crying over small losses. end of the world to lose 100€ right?
[ ] more logic into the game so i don't have to click buttons.
So haven't bluffed fish in any except very small pot.
lost 100$ JJ vs AQs flip, what ever. Should not have watched the race 3 low cards and boom turned ace. Reason why i was playing 100nl was that there were very few 50nl tables running. I try to start tables but doesn't work always. Just clearing first depo and getting out of OnGame.
Working on adding more logic into some lines.
One more goal, let's make this blog whine free. It sucks to read your old blog posts on a good day, especially when new ppl keep subbing.
Training some discipline. Knowing the math is one way to get rid of tilt. Knowing the logic you are basically tilt-free. I could have just spazzed out both hands and guess what my winrate would look like?
h1: It's very very easy fold OTR.
1. Fish doesn't care if it's the Jx or 5x boat he is donking.
2. He doesn't know that boat beats flush.
3. Fish should have a lot more Jx 5x hands than the rare TT-99 kind of hands we would expect.
4. Also can probably expect river check from scared fish.
vs guy who i don't think likes to fold. I could make 5$ bet, but that's -10bb vs guy who like isn't going to fold. I'm happy with 0-EV option. Not gonna level myself any further on why he checked the flop.
Ok last graph i post. I will start looking at my results weekly from now on. Meaning that i don't care about individual day results. That stuff just drives you nuts. NLHE is a game where EV can very easily even out. So don't feel like genius when running 3 BI above EV one day, and loser when being down EV next day.
I really shouldn't care about money this much. I care way too much about individual hands and daily results now. That has to change.
I noticed some signs of tilting. I think it's lack of logic. Couple of failed moves here and there and i started steaming up. QQ on A-high board after squeezing, that got me mad.
Stacked off some fish here and there for 20-30 bb's, no big stack offs for 100bb i believe. Joined couple of fish at 200nl. Couldn't have been more card dead. 1 reg 3 fish. I considered the risk-reward ratio to be good enough. One of the fish was a huge whale, tried bluffing him a couple of times unfortunately.
This quote hit me hard, i don't know if i want to play anymore
Instead i wanna review. I feel like my gambling addiction is not that high atm, so i can review more. There are days where i just wanna play poker and do nothing else. Nothing else motivates me then.
Might spend all night reviewing, not sure how great games are.
I had a really stressful session today. Nothing seemed to go my way, i tilted --> push ups. So i'm ending the month today and taking a few days break. Reviewing database and finishing business math course. I have to quit early before i start worrying about money & my monthly results. Playing small sessions at Hive poker, i need to rake a bit so i can cash out for free. Some extra profits from there too, if things go well. I played some HU vs a station --> new definition of hell lol. the guy was floating A-high flops. I have a lot to learn.
June was ok month. I had small sessions at the start of the month. They were great and i was stacking whales like crazy.
This week i played 9k hands and i was b/e after RB. Maybe i called too many rivers, but had some bad luck also. I will have to take few days off just to review what has been going wrong. Why am i breakeven?
Results: ~1032€ profits. 11.9€ hourly. Without 75€ freeroll tourney win (luck) still 11€/h. So that's 1k increase to the rolls.
100nl+ 588€ before RB. That's majority of the profits
Next month i will continue to grind OnGame first deposit bonus and play on iPoker. I thought about going for deposit bonus at Microgaming, but i'll skip that until August. I just think volume is not good for my game atm.
