Whats up people. Finnish grinder here.
I am currently doing well in 20nl. Have taken few shots in 50nl which have gone ok. Will be posting progress and some interesting hands in this thread. I play on multiple euro sites, mainly on iPoker and Microgaming. I play 6-max regular cash games, but have some interest in the speed games too.
Thread title is my motto for the lower stake cash games. I have noticed that when i start deviating from simple strategies and start thinking too creatively, my winrate starts to go down. A lot of the players aren't barrelling with air, raising light etc., as you might think.
Will be posting some goals later. Here's my giraffe for 20nl. GL all.

Played long sessions today. Only third of the month has passed and i already feel like wrapping up. 62 hours, 29k hands, decent profits. Will probably take a break next week and focus on my game off the tables. Review hands, watch videos etc. Just feel exhausted from all the volume. Need to keep grinding 20nl for bankrolls and all i do is bumhunt 50nl
Graph of the day. Once again proven that volume is the king. Good tilt free sessions. Only got mad at the short stackers in speed tables.

Have to thank the poker gods for this hand! Nice trap buddy.

Today i will probably review database and hands. Will have to put another session today, because the games are good.
So the goals i was planning on:
Quote:
[ ] 6 month DC membership
[ ] Flopzilla
[ ] 1500$= 50nl shot allowed for 5 BI's. Until then, keep starting tables and playing 20nl
Also a couple of short term (~weekly) goals:
Quote:
[ ] Review 3b pots with 88-JJ where hero doesn't have initiative
[ ] Read up and watch vids about squeeze play
[ ] Review pots where i raised flop cbet, and put villain on range
[ ] Make bet sizing plan for 10 3-bet pots, preferably with value hands.

What's wrong with DC? Given that feedback, i will think about it. Dragthebar has 7 days free trial so going for that next.

Another goal also: Read some COTW's, for example this: Playing Against Shortstackers. Should help my 20nl speed game.

Really lazy when it comes to reviewing, volume is much more fun
But by thinking it through outside of the tables it increases your winnings from the volume. So let me start by bluff raises. Long and messy spam in the spoiler:

Pros: Semi-dry board, he should be folding underpairs. Cons: Not enough info on villain. Low cbet 60%. No real equity besides overs + backdoor straight draw. A would be good to block villains draws and we can barrel him off from underpairs if he calls with those. Seems nitty overall. So bluff here would have to work 52% of the time, if my calculator is correct.
Range for a nit: AJ+, ATs+, T9s QJs KQ 22+ KJs. 12.2% 119 combos. Made hands: FD's: 6 combos. Overpairs: 6 combos. Top pair: 21 combos. Sets 9 combos. That would be 43 combos. Bonus hands he might call with: AK w/ BNFD 3 combos. One peel with TT-JJ: 12 combos. 57 total. So it might be close. If he was cbetting more i might bluff here more often.
If the board was rainbow: Q 6 4. He would lose 7 combos of FD's. He has 2 AKs w/ BFD but hes a nit so he will fast fold
If hero had A He would lose 3 combos of FD's. If hero had K = he would lose 2 combos. So A is the preferred bluffing card here.
Raising/gii range: Sets + overpairs: 9 combos: A K 1 combo. 10 total. AQ debatable, but it's speed poker so i guess not.
Calling range: KQ AQ, FD w/o AKdd TT-JJ. Might or might not call with QJ, depending how nitty the player is. 5 (FD) + 21 (TP) + 12 (TT-JJ) = 38 combos. Good player might call with A K that would be: 3 combos for 41 total.
If hero has A his calling range is: 21 (TP) + 12 (TT-JJ) + 3 (FD). No BFD so = 36 combos. 5 less combos!!
Conclusion: So it seems is that, when we have the A villain will call less. His raising range has 1 less combo. I would prefer to have the A here in the future if i bluff. On rainbow boards this bluff becomes more +EV, as he will cbet more, and has less (6) combos of FD's. He might still peel one street with TT-JJ, which sucks, but we achieve more EV by him not calling with FD's. Vs someone who is cbetting like 80% and folds to raises, i see this rainbow board as good spot to bluff. Problem with raising rainbow boards is that we rep a lot less. And villain will add his overpairs to his calling range. But it's still the same value range.
One problem more: We know villains range, but how do we know what % of that range he is cbetting here? Certain boards might get close to 100% cbets, i assume this board won't be one of them. FWIW his PFR is 15.41%. Mine is 18.8% and i open 13.7% from MP. So i think his MP range is reasonable.
On rainbow boards: He would have to defend 48% of his combos for our bluff to become unprofitable. Top of his range: 36 combos sets OP TP. We can add 3.5 PP's (JJ, TT, 99 + ½ of 88-77(?) ) to make it 57 combos (48%). If our opponent doesn't adjust well, other than calling more, think we can bluff here. Calling xr with 88 here is pretty loose. If he only calls with top of his range, 36 combos, then this bluff will have EV of: 0.815. 36 combos is 30.25% of his combos. His folding range is 1 - that. So the calculation would be: 0.6975*2.21 - (1-0.6975) * 2.4 = 0.8152
That doesn't take into account the times that we win it by hitting A or K or bluffing future streets. But i think it shows that he should be folding on rainbow board more than calling/raising, if he doesn't 3b bluff us.

Okay another hand:

Pros: He is cbetting 86%. Given that fact i think he is cbetting 100% of his range here. Cons: Can lead to spewing if i don't define range well.
Tight range : 33+, AJ+, KQ. Made hands: KK + TT 4 combos. AA 6 combos. Top pair: 24 combos. FD: 2 combos. Has 30 GS combos but unsure if he calls with them. I assume he would fold since it's paired board and FD is out there. So 36 value combos out of 115. Should be an okay raise. We raise Tx here to protect from FD's and to get value from Kx.
Looser range: 22+, ATs+, AJ+ T9s QJs KJs KQ. Made hands: TT + KK + AA 10 combos. Trips: 6 combos. Top pair: 27 combos. FD 3 combos. OESD: 3 combos. 49 combos out of 134. It should still be ok.
In both cases he might call with A J/Q. That would be 6 combos more. He would need to be defending 59 or 69 combos to make our bluff unprofitable. So if he thinks our line is FOS and calls with JJ-QQ, it should still be ok. I don't know what 3-betting this flop texture would achieve as a pure bluff. We still have gut-shots, FD's Kx etc. we could have here.
Preferred bluffing hands: I think mainly we want to block QJ on this board. Having a blocker for the flush draw would be great too. Problem is that we don't call with off-suited hands here. JJ with J should be fine. AQ would be fine too if we call pre. We would still have some equity if called, unlike here, where we might end up xf'ing or spewing a ton, if called.

So todays results. I am considering playing speed poker every evening instead of cash games. I prefer cash games off-peak hours, so easy to table select then. Tried to get regular games going, sat like 15min in an empty table but no catch.
Speed poker is improving my gameplay overall. I can much easily spot leaks from people. I keep looking at certain stats and taking advantage of them. With speed poker it becomes very systematic. My red line has been very flat, where as in normal games it's decreasing. I think this is because there are more regs so we can steal more blinds and we don't have to give up on pots vs fish so often.
I have to focus on school next week, so playing less, reviewing more. If things keep going well i can feel 50nl shot coming next month.

Few hands:

Nothing else to do here. Think i should bet river small instead of jamming. Kinda optimistic jam tbh. He was setting up PSB OTR but chickened out.

lol @ the AA hand. Shame you decide to spazz there. You probably could have extracted value from a lot of hands with a small-mid size bet. Alas, can't win all of the money all of the time!

I do appreciate your analysis of your hands and opponent range though. The more you analyze EVERYTHING about the game, the sooner you CRUSH poker... It probably seems like a bit much to people reading it, but it's very thorough, and if you actually have that exact process while playing the hands, you'll make a lot of money in no time...

Cheers, and best of luck moving forward!

So today was a monster day in 50nl. I came across a quote suggesting shot taking, and depositing if it fails. Thought that i have nothing to lose, but a lot to learn. Overall this days profits: 227.4€ after RB. Bout ~20€/h but not sustainable i think. Tables were very fishy. I had a run of good cards, but also made few bad calls when i was beaten and ran into AA also. Got a ton of hands to review now.

I found out that i am competing in 2 rake races in Microgaming. I will try to score min. reward in those two. Rewards would be a nice add for my overall monthly winrate. I think i can score those rake races with small volume and playing 50nl. I feel like i need to study a lot of the game. 50nl is really good for working on your game. More solid players, more aggression. Will have to review some trouble hands. After some discussion in the µNL forum, some hands started to make sense.
But i will cut down the volume for the rest of the month. Reason why i am cutting the volume is because i have a course in Swedish language starting up. If i fail that course i lose my monthly income from the goverment. It's not the end of the world, since i can make that money in poker, but it would delay my progress, in school and poker. Am freerolling currently, no need to withdraw any money. FWIW i hate that language and totally suck at it. But it's the last time i ever have to deal with that language. Finland has a stupid bi-lingual system, nothing wrong with swedes but studying a language you don't need is ****ing stupid and waste of resources.

Since our hand blocks hands such as AQ KQ is it more likely he has some small pp's or suited connectors over hands like QJs Q10s? At first i thought it was a bad flop to take that line bc of the Q on board, but now thinking more about it there are a lot more combos of hands that miss that board then hit it due to your AK blocking a lot of combos. Am I thinking right about this?

Goodluck in your games!

That's true indeed, we block KQ AQ. What i have found is that villains are not folding top pairs vs check-raise. Key fact here is that he raised from MP. You can play MP either really nitty, or open many suited hands from it. Janda suggests opening a wide range of suited connectors on his book. I assume that player with that PFR is not opening QTs.
I would prefer to have A there, so we can semi-bluff. Not sure about his cbet %, i think on that flop players will check back sometimes without value hand. So they would be more inclined to bet with value hands than w/o value hands.

I scored a freeroll tournament yesterday. Tourney lasted 2 hours so 75$/hour not bad
So that's a nice increase for my microgaming roll. Needs a bit more before i could start to take 20 BI shots at 50nl. This month has been very profitable. I certainly don't need any more volume, just need to make sure i min-score the rake race.
Will be reviewing 50nl hands today, making a couple of threads to µNL-forum, some poker videos and will get my IRL studies started.

Busted 11th on this freeroll. Still 10€/h very nice reward. Cash game session +95€. I will focus all my efforts now to complete the Swedish course that i have. My rolls are ready to take shots, just need to get irl studies out of the way. Still need to min-score that rake race. Other than that i don't need any more volume this month. Add bonuses, tourneys and RB to that graph and it's nearly 1k month!!

Not a fun session, mental game problems. Was playing C mental game. When i'm in A/B mental game state i can make more folds, not barrel in stupid spots etc. Called too many rivers, nobody was bluffing (WHAT A SURPRISE! )
W/e happens, I will keep it SIMPLE from now on. No need to overthink. I started the session by playing 4 tables and really examining every action. Started to overthink at some points vs player who don't think and ended up spewing a bit, that caused tilt. You know, "he's not repping anything"

Some run bad hands:
h1: fish donk river = nuts. Thought that he would have donked any ace...

Long session today. Overall profits: ~93€.
I played mostly vs 100nl players who drop down when there's no action. A lot of 4-handed and HU, very good practise. 50nl has enough money on the tables, so i can just play 4 tables and focus.
Did i keep it simple? NO! These players were really good so i had to think more. That last posts whining was from getting outplayed by nits. You know what that means. Nits can only outplay you when they hit a hand.
A lot of deadlines coming up so no poker for a while now.

Nice thread FT.

Way higher than I play but you just have to grit your teeth and stick to your plan at any limit against those aggro players. You know the chip's will be donated to someones stack sooner rather than later.

Played a session of 10nl to receive a free sports bet (1k hands needed @ 10nl). Will be betting on Finland's ice hockey team Those promos are very great, keep it up microgaming.
It's good to go back a stake or two to see what you've learned. There was a ton of short-handed play, mixed with a couple of turbo tables. Just a reminder why i was massing 10nl, there was fish on every table. With 5+ players, ended up playing 27.6/22.8/8.6 vpip/pfr/3b. Basically people don't defend enough in 10nl. Some guys had fold to steal of +90%. Makes your life easy when their 3-bet is below <6.5%, no need to 4b bluff then! Gameplay is very passive and simple, if turn card is a K you will see a lot of folds. I improved my gameplay a bit wrt. barreling fish.
Finishing some school work and playing another session of 20-50 if the tables are good.

Tables were great. Not that many regs. I added 2x 100nl tables, no good regs there, some 37/24 guy and 19/5. Had position on 500bb stack maniac, but no big pots. I was feeling super confident wrt. money. Feelings prior to this session were to drop down to 20nl and grind some rolls. I just find 50nl so much more convenient. Less regs (probably) and more value in fish. Also better regs to learn from. Question now is whether to transition to 50nl full time.
Quit the session a bit early while i still had good seats. But didn't want my concentration to drop too low and start to make mistakes. Pretty much done with volume this month. Awesome results overall. Need to study more of the game, and irl.

Feel like i'm spinning around a circle, optimizing my time awfully. I hate studying every single day due to deadlines. So i'm thinking of studying a lot before the weekend, and then have couple of days off for poker.
I might have to start daily goals, just feel like i'm not getting stuff done atm. If i have to do an assignment i always find something more interesting to do. Definition of procrastination:
"Procrastination is the practice of carrying out less urgent tasks in preference to more urgent ones, or doing more pleasurable things in place of less pleasurable ones, and thus putting off impending tasks to a later time, sometimes to the "last minute" before the deadline."
"On the other hand many regard procrastination as a useful way of identifying what is important to us personally as it is rare to procrastinate when one truly values the task at hand" So why i am watching poker vids and not studying languages?
So goals for the next day:

Would have been fun to stack a fish, but how do you deal with losing if your mindset sucks. I'm thinking of making mental game my next months big theme strategy wise.
