I've tried many different 15" resolutions and unfortunately I think 17" Full HD is just the way to go for poker. I don't like to carry one around though so I compromise with a 15" and accept that I'll just have to two table zoom if I want to play on the go.
I haven't really read older posts from your thread yet as I have just became active again since 3 weeks. What specs are you looking for? I really like the new XPS, they have some nice designs and their battery are superior towards other laptops.
XPS 15 is truly great but a steep price for sure.
Id check out some lenovo models as well the E470 or 13-series will work just as well as the XPS 15 for a chuck less, that is if you don't want to play heavy games.

To give you an idea, this laptop has perfect specs, except for the 1366x768 resolution https://www.jimms.fi/en/Product/Show...etokone-harmaa
External graphics card would be great, because if I go with integrated one, I might have to update the computer in the future due to it. This is what happened with my previous laptop, the processor is still great, Intel i3-2350, but GPU makes the computer slow. I can't even multitable Microgaming without lag that's how bad it is
Intel HD 620 looks decent though and it's very recent integrated GPU model.
I don't really play games except maybe CS:GO occasionally. That would be the most demanding one.
I'm just looking for portable and small laptop that I can easily move around with. The 15.6" is just too gigantic. Takes too much space out of my desktop and not easy to use while laying in bed etc.
All the trendy IT geeks have a small laptop
I'm not interested in buying another small laptop in the future, because I think Moore's law has reached the point where i5-7200U has more than enough computing power than what's needed. Unless there's a big transition into quad core software, which probably isn't happening.
GPU's still suck for small laptops which is due to lack of physical space.
So if you buy a new laptop with good specs, you can go 10+ years with it imo.
@Brands
I avoid HP & Acer. I thought Lenovo was decent.
Hey man, I'm sorry if this came up before (and it probably did) but what are your experiences with bots at sites besides Stars?
Is it easy to recognise them or do you just grind it out and hope you either have an edge on them or that there aren't enough of them to harm the win rate?

Mostly positive. I don't see many bots imo.
Very good aggressive regs raise my suspicions. If they're just rock solid and don't seem to have any doubts while playing, that type of stuff.
wrt. bots. Really trust your gut feeling. If there's anything weird about one particular player, take a note about it.
I reported one guy and I'm very sure he's a bot. He's timing tells are way off. Either he's SUPER MEGA CONFIDENT guy or then he just never needs time to make decisions
I reported him also because he basically had no timing tells vs fish. I always think long vs fish in various spots.
I mean if you run like god and flop TPTK+ every hand, sure you can snap bet/bet/bet. Otherwise it's kinda suspicious.
You can learn from chat as well and how the player reacts to table starting etc.
I've seen some bottish guys tilt off stacks (preflop) and that threw away my suspisions.
Most ideal bot candidates are really aggressive regs who always seem to know what they're doing. You could say the innerpsy type, but ofc he's legit.
It annoys me how those bottish regs always seem to know solution to every spot -.-
But there's not many on my list really.
Very busy atm and not rly time to play poker, not that I feel like playing either way. I should put in some hours as if I had a part-time job through poker.
The laptop stuff, I ended up buying 14" Lenovo Thinkpad E470. Very good laptop, everything is great on it, keyboard, good battery life, IPS screen etc.
I definitely think that the laptop can last 10 years unless they make yuge progress in quad core / quantum computing technology. So it's nice to buy long-lasting electronics, costs a bit more at the time, but definitely worth the extra cost.
To answer my question about 14" Full HD and poker. The HUD text is very small, but still big enough. Can't really increase font size when you have ~50 stats on your HUD
It's enough for occasional sessions, but day-to-day I would not be grinding on that setup with tiny text. 15.6" Full HD is very good, and the specs are cheap compared to these 13-14" laptops.
I'm going to send some summer job applications and see how it goes. A couple of my classmates got recruited, which gave me a lot of confidence for applying. I wanna relocate to Helsinki, so that's where I'm applying.
If nothing works out, I'll have another summer playing the pokers, on a very cheap student apartment tho.
The job I'm looking at the most, would be a part-time job 3-4 days a week. I really would like that schedule. Plenty of time to play poker on the side and get that #MoneyMaker #EarlyRetirement machine going
Playing poker full time has it's ups and downs. It's hard to maintain focus for several days in a row. In the past I've written a million posts about staying focused. Then of course the downers are not fun, especially if they last for months. One 5k+ month and your mindset shifts 180' and you're back on the right track.
Played some 100nl today. Had good seat at 600nl and kinda H&R after stacking off with set in 3bp, which was really nice!
There's an additional layer of stress involved there, I tend to doubt my decisions a bit more. Where as at 100nl I can find myself playing very loose and "trying out stuff" (click click).
Assuming my 100nl WR is 2x what I have at 200nl, I really could just play 100nl. I like that there's a lot of tables available, I don't have to hoard all the 200-400nl tables because one of them might break and I need replacement tables. It's also nice to see regs making mistakes and thought process errors. A lot more fish who put their 66.43€ on the table and stack off loose.
I have also been having thoughts about why don't I just stick to these easier games. The answer is, I really like challenges and going for the "high hanging fruits".
It's a tendency that I notice in all aspects of my life. It's also very deep rooted in my personality. Sometimes I ask that why can't I just relax and enjoy stuff, instead I go for stuff that is very challenging. I guess that yields me more happiness than being the best 100nl reg out there
What I realized was that things are not impossible. With enough time and dedication you can master any subject. Something like administering linux servers is very tricky. It's a long learning process, but the end results will be fabulous.
It's the same thing with poker really, except the financial stress when people are overbetting 2x pot at 600nl :S
Had a thought about whether I'm "Crazy Finn" at the tables or not. Thought that I'm passive type, but definitely showed some guts at the tables today. I play very logical game (see the above pic), so that takes away some of the crazyness. I guess otherwise I'm annoying/tricky to play against. At 100 I do a lot of snap calling if the spot is right.
Going to start a new thread, as I'm no longer really playing 400nl+ as my main game.
Game improvements aside, it's nice to be making some money again, and it's interesting that I get these thoughts about improving my game further. I'd like to do something at 100z/200z, but I know esp. 200z is a very big leap to take.
Reg tables are stressful to play and probably for that reason I end up playing less, than I would play 100z. The "rhytm" of playing is very different at reg tables, one guy sits out and you have to take many deep breaths in order to play quicker for that time, kinda annoying.
Will have to see how the month develops.
few hands
h1: the big pot, quick call and snap check every street, then he sits out afterwards tilt or smth?
h3: nice to be right with this loose calldown vs fish. Qx obv don't bet and Kx might play more tricky.
I lack confidence in calling down these spots, but it's about making the right thought process line. Sometimes they show up with KJs or whatever for sure.
Hero mucks A A (Two Pair, Aces and Tens)
(Pre 87%, Flop 12%, Turn 5%) CO shows K T (Three of a Kind, Tens)
(Pre 13%, Flop 88%, Turn 95%) CO wins £77.50
h7: a legit punt, this is why hundo can be dangerous and tempting. folds quickly so that's probably exactly what he should not be folding here
not sure if turn can be a fold, depends how wide he bets KJ or T8s there.
Why not check call 77 otr if you're gunna do anything punty with it? I don't think he'll fold any better hands than 77 otr. Gl man!
Yeah I think checking is the best play. What ever best case scenario we hoped for, can be realized by checking. If he was randomly betting AK or AJ we can get to SD if he chooses to check. XC seems fine on that board as well.
We don't really have much bluffs on the river, so doing this stuff at low freQ can be fine imo.
I'm also interested at whether he chooses multiple sizings OTT or not. I definitely don't wanna make ppl fold stuff when I have AQ KQ.
Vs bluff heavy range we're obv doing fine OTT.
That's one thing about playing the hundo's, not everything makes sense!
Are you playing mainly on Microgaming? Might have seen you round 100nl lately. Since it doesnt look like you reload I have prob been bumhunting you lol. glgl

Hi. Not so much on MPN lately. Those shallow stacks are from 50bb tables.
Since it doesnt look like you reload I have prob been bumhunting you lol.
Haven't played there in a while but yeah, what's up with the anon guys throwing in a limp here and there and not reloading :P Some of them seem to be not terrible.
