Yea definitely. The boxes are opaque of course, and they are changed/probably not even checked like twice a day, so if it's already been dropped no way of floor proving it hasn't unless they want to call out the player.

I'm not looking to cheat the system it's just strange that something that major could be overlooked on a consistent basis.

Which is why most casinos have a floor present when rake is dropped

Talking about variance...

I just loaded two years of data into Poker Expert iApp. The good news it is convinced that I have a 99.4% chance I am a winning player. Good to get that monkey off my back.

But it says I have a Standard Variance of $618/hour.

That seems high to me!

It kinda starts sucking around Season 8, Episode 13 in my opinion (S8E12 was the last one I actually liked), though some friends think it started getting bad even before that... just as a heads up.

I'm watching S6E1 right now it's pretty good.

Tonight's my last night at Rio. Might head back to LA tomorrow, not sure. Undecided.

Random recent chip pics, last one taken just now:

thx for the comments everyone.

Turning point was, well, the day I decided to quit! I got lucky to not hit a downswing immediately, it went well and I stuck with it. Played 1/2 NL to start off, now I play almost exclusively 5/5/10 PLO. All live.

Just got done with a 3 hour session, down $1405. Basically played almost no hands at all, lost a $3k pot with AAJ4ds vs KK43r AIPF. Still not sure if I want to stay in Vegas or go somewhere else tomorrow. Bleh...

Time to calculate my Vegas total.

Up $8186 in 26 hours for a sexy $315 hourly in Vegas, never played a session longer than 4 hours. I really prefer it this way, problem in LA is the casino is about an hour round trip drive so I feel obligated to stay longer I guess.

But yea I moved out of sleeping on the floor at my friend's apartment right before coming to Vegas (yes, I slept on the floor/air mattress for almost half a year), so I have no permanent residence now. I might just suck it up and pay the weekend hotel rates even though I really don't want to, not that I can't afford it I just feel scammed lol.

Table selection is king. I would definitely think that if a decent NLHE player who can follow my PLO guide (posted earlier in this thread) to a T magically always had the best table among the ~8 Rio tables, he would have a higher hourly than Phil Galfond playing at the first table he gets seated at over a large sample size. Because honestly sometimes you just get a table where no one is calling down light, no one is bluffing off their stack, while other times you get guys who just can't wait to get 400bbs in drawing dead in a single raised pot.

My friend also made a good point that if you're playing 20% VPIP in full ring PLO, you're seeing the flop probably an average of about 4 times an hour at these hand shuffled Rio games, and dealers also usually spend a significant portion of their down counting the rack and dropping time. GG

Are those 5k chips the same ones you had or did you play at a big game at Aria? Just curious if you were able to cash those chips you had from LA. I think you mentioned somebody buying them from you. Not positive though.

I will never have to play in a live PLO game with 7 pros because the pros would be broke if that ever were the case; the poker economy is just like anything else, it's self-balancing. Two adjacent bodies of water can't stay at different levels when the floodgate between them is opened.

As to your question about why play poker, I'd rather make $10k a year doing what I want when I want, compared to making $1 mil a year but having to wake up to an alarm clock 5/7 days. For example, I was just hanging out at Bike when I told my friends there "hmm I think I'm going to go to Vegas tonight". No doctor/lawyer/etc. could have done that.
I guess I don't get the motivation for writing the blog? If I were a rec player in your game I'd probably tighten up/ learn to play better. NL games at the series have gotten way more pro infested worse over the years. PLO will probably go the same route. I guess you enjoy writing and want recognition.
