^ No resistance about poker. I've encountered much, much much more positive responses about poker than negative throughout my life, I think a lot of it is how you present it. I generally just say something like "Anyone can get lucky and win in 1 day, but since most people play recreationally and I've studied a lot I will definitely win over the course of a year".

(they aren't ready to hear about 1 year downswings yet)

Thanks for the comments!

that's great, for some i've found it to be a deal breaker but i've found with all the highly technical videos out there it's an easier sell, ie i'll find the most boring pio analysis video possible and send it to them and they'll immediately understand i'm not just shoving money in but everything is very precise and thought out

Haven't posted here in a bit so figured I'd throw in an update, I've been focused on streaming video games on twitch.tv/AesahTFT (TFT = Teamfight Tactics). I did this before briefly but this time I'm taking it much more seriously and I'm directing almost all of my "work hours" towards it instead of poker. In other news I'm settled down in LA with the wife, we have 2 cats, life is great. I'm also commentating on LATB once or twice a month too

Long term I want it to basically replace poker is the dream, IDK how feasible it is but that is what I am working on

I have played extremely little poker this year, occasionally a bit on Global, Ignition, and live at the Bicycle Casino. Have been focused entirely on my new job streaming Teamfight Tactics.

I averaged 763 viewers over 177 hours in July 2022, and I expect to surpass that viewer average this month (although probably slightly less hours). I'm told by the veterans in the industry that you need to average 500 viewers to make $100k per year (I am making MUCH MUCH less than this because I am focused on long-term growth rather than short term monetization), so I'm doing really well! Much better than I expected.

The biggest spike in my viewership was by hitting rank 1 in North America (it fluctuates on the daily between about 5 of us, there is a lot of variance in the game). I kind of feel silly because the feelings I had towards streaming are very reminiscent of that I initially had towards online poker: that it is too competitive, too difficult, and I would be unlikely to succeed. On the surface it is EXTREMELY competitive, even moreso than poker. Less than 1% of people who try out streaming with the intention to make money from it actually do so, however really most of those people- including myself in 2018- aren't really putting in the effort.

I was obsessed with poker for a few years before I got bored of it, but I suspect I can play Teamfight Tactics forever- I really enjoy the strategic depth of the game, which is very hard to quantify but in terms of how many decisions/complexity of those decisions compared to poker, I'd say it's practically about 100x-1000x more complex than poker for a human to parse.

The biggest struggle for me is because I want to compete at a high level, but at the same time I also want to be a great streamer, aka an entertainer, so it is difficult for me to balance splitting my focus between these two conflicting goals. When I'm streaming, every second spent telling a story about my day or making a joke is one less second spent figuring out how to optimize my in-game decisions.

OK actually I lied, that was the second biggest struggle. The biggest struggle by far is the nonstop work schedule, poker allowed for very flexible breaks. In streaming if I take even two days in a row off, for example recently I was out of town doing the Tough Mudder in Colorado with my wife's family, there is a noticeable drop in viewership. It really is a lot of pressure to go 7 days a week and makes me feel unmotivated to take vacations (unmotivated maybe isn't the right word, more that I "can't afford" to take vacations right now).

But yeah- TLDR, streaming is going amazingly, I am likely gone from poker forever. Thanks for reading <3

Congrats on finding a new passion/direction and the early success! The nonstop work schedule seems very difficult to manage long term and I assume makes the burn out rate very high. Hope you can find a way to find some balance over time. Gl!

Hey Aesah, randomly popping in here- good to see you found your thing man. As I'm sure you know twitch has a ridiculous ceiling that's tempted me as well. Best of luck dude.

oh hey guys, thanks

it makes sense Twitch has a very high ceiling, but I haven't actually thought about it. I've never cared too much about making too much money and honestly I'm very surprised I can even make a livable wage lol

How much do the Warzone streamers make? For example I watch a guy ZLaner - has about 2500 watching give or take during his streams. Always curious how much these guys make
