I dunno I just put that as a disclaimer since I often get criticized for VPIP'ing dumb hands

Honestly you have to adjust to the table, for example I played a 7-way 3-bet pot where the 3-bettor (who was actually one of the weakest players at the table) had aces, and I flatted with aces in 5-card high/low. For those of you who don't speak that language, my range for playing a 3-bet pot without an ace in my hand in Big O would be borderline non-existent; in other words, wtf were the other 5 people without an ace doing. So yeah, that says a lot about the average skill of the table, and makes me feel A-OK about playing ATT755 when someone else is playing QJ7774 for example.

In a tough lineup, I'd probably literally only play A2W hands in the high/low Double Barrel games. But first I would just leave the table

Hey Aesah, wanted to say I did exactly this and it was fun to play with you a few weeks ago in the 5/5 PLO at the Venetian. You sat down and I started laughing and mentioned I was using your guide for winning at PLO.

Congrats on the PLO8 run and good luck for the rest of the summer!

Absolutely true! A fact that often times only becomes obvious with age and experience! Well said!

OK i really hope double board PLO high only catches on. I brought it to some regular PLO tables, close to 100% of ~30 people I've seen try it think it's fun. Personally I think it's great as it has both gamble factors (so many draws) as well as very intricate handreading/strategy.

What do we think villain has here? New to table no reads.

6 handed 5/10 NLHE Rio. BTN straddle $20, villain $50 in SB, hero $150 in BB with AT, folds to SB who calls. $3k effective.

Flop AQ5, pot $320
Checks through.

Turn 6, pot $320
Villain lead $150, call.

River 3, pot $620
Villain lead $300, hero?

Call. V has KcQh.

or a flush, or AQ/AJ sometimes, i dont think V has many bluffs here, i would bet flop but i understand why you didn't

Re: double board PLO, you're taking an already fairly slow game and making it much, much slower with possibly lower edge for the better players. I can see how it'd be fun in a home game w buddies, but if you're playing to make money, then I highly suspect this game is worse than straight PLO.

Folding or raising AT seems horrendous.

yea I think that was a pretty standard hand history, but it's refreshing to have some of those every once in awhile. Villain showed up with like the most unlikely hand ever, he had KcKx. I'm not really sure whether that's closer to a value bet or a bluff, I guess the former but it's close.

The double board game is super fun. Like I said ~39/40 people I've played it with agree. I think edges as of right now are insane as people don't know wtf their doing, but I have really strong intuition for these things and feel like I'm way ahead of the learning curve.

Good luck! I had given my "one-time" to a buddy for the One-Drop tournament but he elected not to use it so I'll give it to you. Use it wisely.

Have had an open to 10x, 19x, and 25x from 3 different people. It's the standard open for one guy, one guy was angling, and another was an accident.

We have the corner table and like 30 ppl are standing around it's pretty weird T.T

Busted. Jokes on me for making fun of my table

Had QQ twice and JJ once, very early in level 1 I cbet/folded QQ vs. original raiser on J54ccx in a 3-way 3-bet pot. With the info I have now I would have called, maybe should have anyway? Maybe villain had me beat who knows. This and the KQ hand are probably the only hands I lost I could have played differently.

The other two times I had QQ and JJ, someone flopped a set and showed (I folded both times)

Then I cbet 3/5 pot 4-ways with KQss on Q63ddx, 1 caller, spewy guy who is shorter shoves for under a PSB I call and lose most of my stack to 66. Btw this was vs. the guy who was blind raising so yea he was spewy, don't think I could have folded but I'm not sure. I'm told he's a billionaire or close to it.

Finally squeeze a HJ open and CO call from BTN with KK to 9bb, HJ puts me in for ~30bb I call and lose to AA.

I felt like I wanted to cry after but yea after discussing the hands with tmckendry I don't think I did anything wrong (at least in hands I lost). Still extremely disappointing especially given my amazing table draw

don't have to rub it in man.

I've had KK vs. AA 7 times that I know of on this trip in roughly 50 hours of NLHE volume (at least I won one of them), everyone I talked to agreed they were all stackoffs too so that is pretty annoying

hey Don,

don't take it too hard. I like the tone of your post that you reflect on hands played and ran it by other players. It sucks that you couldn't take advantage of the table draw but that's just how it is sometimes.. I thought buying a piece was money well invested and I'll do it again next year!

Chin up!
