Aesah,

Sorry to hear about your downswing and rough session. I know you'll bounce back strong though. I've been through similar rough patches, as most live regs will. A big downswing is a really good opportunity to improve yourself as a poker player, both mentally and technically. Feel free to text/call anytime if you need a friendly ear. Hope you're doing OK.

Thanks for the comments everyone!

Still taking a break from poker, doing a bit of soul-searching, and consistently coming to the conclusion that despite the past week, I run like god. So don't worry about me

Jelosy trumps heat here so I try to stay out of that boat.

I do admire OP for taking the courageous leap of fate and living successfully the life he wished.

On similar path thou no where near on results..

A couple example hands some of the stuff that tilted me yesterday... had like 7 of these type of hands lol:

Hand 1: Hero raises $35 from UTG+1 with KQ over a UTG limp and a missed blind post, only BB calls. Old asian guy very tight. Hero has terrible losing image.

Flop K86, pot $90
Villain checks, hero bets $55, villain calls and checks dark.

Turn K, pot $200
Hero bets $115, villain calls and checks dark again with $400 behind.

River 7, pot $430
I think for awhile about checking behind this river since this villain is so nitty but based on my own image I decided to fire out a $230 bet. He says "ok well I guess it's time to go home", c/r's all in for $170 more, I tank for a bit but my pot odds are too good and I make a crying call and get shown AK.

Hand 2: 6 limps, hero checks SB with T2. Villain in BTN is super whale playing 100/5, not really ever folding postflop either.

Flop 652, pot $40
Checked to BTN who bets $10, hero raises to $40, only BTN calls.

Turn 4, pot $120
I check, BTN bets $50, I raise to $200, BTN calls.

River 4, pot $520
I jam for $375, BTN stares at me and asks "are you sure? are you really sure you want to bet?". I'm guessing he has a straight or even like top pair (lol), I look at him and give him a big friendly smile to try to induce a donation call, after like 30 seconds he finally calls

Spoiler:
with 44. lol
Hand one was pretty bad. Besides AK or AA what other hands could a tight player have calling a preflop raise, a flop bet, and a turn bet??

well just calling pre pretty heavily discounts AK/AA. on the river it's not that much more so I figured if he has any Kx there's a chance he might just jam anyway (KT/KJ) although I expect to lose most of the time of course.

Very standard hand. With the image hero has, even jamming river would be fine.

We have practically the nuts given poor image.

A tight player is never calling a raise preflop, out of position, with hands like KJ or K10.

This. He said very tight so basically a not. AK probably shouldn't be discounted as I have seen many nits not 3! AK pre. Honestly despite the pot odds once he jams river I wonder if you are ever good, I mean a nits c/c, c/c, crai line is like 100% got it.

if we're just talking about preflop action, KJ/KT is like infinitely more likely than AK/AA

The in-game-dynamic villain profile made by a player who has been there with villain for the past 3 hours is always infinitely better than the read made by those of us reading 1-2 sentences about said villain. That's a problem with forums.

Played 7 hours today, up $460.

Value of semi-bluffing:

5/T NLHE. CO opens to $35, Hero raises to $105 with 74, SB calls, CO calls. Not very good reads on CO but I suspect he's opening very wide hence the light 3B. SB is a reasonable rec player, thinking 88-JJ a lot when he cold calls the 3-bet in this spot. Hero's image is tight as this is the 2nd hand I've played since sitting down an hour ago.

Flop 665, pot $325
Checked to hero who bets $180, SB raises to $360, CO thinks for a very long time and folds, hero jams for $1300 total, SB thinks for a little bit and folds.

Without any hand equity (say with T9o) we need villain to fold ~55% of the time for our jam to be profitable compared to folding, since we win $860 ~55% of the time and lose $1100 ~45% of the time when called.

If we have a semi-bluff and say we have ~30% hand equity when called, we only need our jam to work ~20% of the time, since we net an average of 30% * $860 - 70% * $1100 = -$230 when called, and therefore lose $230 ~80% of the time, and win $860 20% of the time.

Hate his min c/r. Wtf is that? See where you at kinda stuff?

Dislike your pre play.
Really like postflop and good solid post.

Very true, semi bluffing with nice eq + Fold eq, is a very effective. Nh sir

They do this flop min-raise ALLLL the time against the PF raiser, usually with TPGK, and sometimes (as in this case obviously) an overpair to the board. When they do it in position and get called, they follow up with check back turn, check back river; or check back turn, pay off river. When they do it as a c/r and get called, they follow with bet small turn, and check/pay off river.

Monkey Poker. Catch the fever.

I think pre is pretty bad and significantly worse when you're struggling lately. Post looks good.
