11 hour session today, up $400 from 20/40 mix limit stud/omaha eight or better. I bluffed some guy for $40 into a ~$360 pot on the river which was sweet... up $800 from NLHE, down $500 from PLO.

Annoyed I keep losing at PLO, getting in good spots like $3000 with AAKQ vs AQJJ and not profiting

Down $600 in NLHE, down $800 in PLO. total down $1400 in 8 hours.

Really annoyed, losing flips, bet/folding TPTK into the nuts (wtf who has 35 on A24r)...

Had an interesting hand where old asian villain limps, not too many reads but he seems a bit crazy, SB limps, I check BB with J8. Effective stacks $2000.

Flop T92, pot $30
Check, check, villain bets $25, SB folds, hero raises to $105, villain calls.

Turn 6, pot $240
I check going for the double c/r, villain checks behind.

River A, pot $240
I lead $600, villain calls.

That is either 78 or Ax 2-pair from V

I would check-call turn over check-raising - do you really think you would have FE there with the x-raise? The SPRs are not low enough nor high enough entering the turn IMO... I would just check-call, lead big on all made rivers against crazy V. Limped pot - so V has a lot of 2-pair+ that he is never folding

Hi guys, all my friends would kill for my job but to be honest it was super boring (I've been there for almost 3 years). Now I am going to play live poker which is great because:

1) I LOVE PEOPLE. All kinds of table chat I find interesting.
2) Poker is fun too

During the first year at my job, I had similar sentiments and played poker semi-pro. However working for 8 hours + getting home and playing for 3 was crushing me mentally, and I stopped. In the second year, I didn't really consider leaving work ever because I was dating my bosses daughter. Unfortunately that fell through, so it's time to finally pull the trigger and get out of the cozy life and into the (hopefully!) fun life!

Anyway my living expenses are LOWWWWWWWW so I'll be very satisfied making at least $15 hourly in the near future (next few months). I'm fairly confident I have the skills, but then again I know human beings in general are well-known for overestimating themselves, so I can't be too cautious. Also, I have played quite a lot of poker in the past, but I still have a lot to learn! I sincerely hope you will join me in this thread to talk about lifestyles and poker hands. Thanks for reading! I AM FREAKING EXCITED RIGHT NOW.

Goals:
-Make at least $15 hourly (for now)
-Enjoy life!

I expect most updates from here on out to be after playing a session, and thoughts on it. Cheers.

EDIT: Crap, how do you change the thread title? It's relevant when talking to friends/family because they think I'm crazy, but I know I'm in good company here so my previous job is actually super-irrelevant and kind of too arrogant sounding for my tastes.

If a mod could do to something more descriptive about the actual poker goals I would super appreciate it (or if someone tells me I'm a moron for not being able to figure out how). Thanks!!
Welcome to the warrior class. You are now a Man.

You dismiss as trivial what opposes you? You are a fool.

What opposes also sustains, as it must. To the extent you defile it you defile yourself.

I have no idea what you just said but I think its something like "be nice to the fish so they come back to donate money to you" amirite

Met RobFarha and cushlash a few days ago.

Played only a 1 hour session today, up $240 through a couple 3-bet + cbet bluffs.

About the time I was getting convinced Tinder was a total waste of time, I finally met a cool girl and got laid. Worth.

No. It is an eloquent way of describing the idea of yin and yang, two opposing or contradictory forces that define each other by existing.

We know white is white because it is not black. Your argument goes along the lines of "I am white and I am superior to black", which is a foolish statement because your very existence depends on black's existence, and vice versa.

Also from what I've seen Harry seems to be a competent player who just dgaf.

Poker isn't a sport, it's a social gambling game that anybody who has the money and wants to play can join at their local casino. Harry plays the way he wants to play and he's a reg in that game so why would they insult a reg who is there to have fun?

Poker is supposed to be entertainment, not a crutch to support your ego.

So any regrets about poker as main source of income?

Considering focusing much more on poker than real estate sales. Frustrated with it all. I would have a 5 figure bank roll to start (ive built from 1/2) and a decent life roll as well.

Fair enough, so he's a fishy reg. Just sayin, I didn't mean to hate on him, just saying that the commentators were saying all kinds of stuff to defend his terribad plays which takes away a lot of the value in the commentary to some extent. Not sure if the OP was commenting but I was just listening to the commentary and thinking what on earth are they talking about.. Just say "it probably isn't the best play" and "he dgaf about losing money" which would be true.

I apologize for coming off as a dick there. Harry is definitely not playing a winning style at that table to say the least. He did get lucky once and stacked some dude I guess

Idk, you're right, I was entertained by the players... Just not the commentary

Lost $1k today. Played poorly, deserved it.

Re: Harry. I mean he's obviously a recreational player so I'm not sure what you're trying to say here? I would gladly trade my poker ability and income for his without a second thought.

Yeah I'm not trying to derail the thread but unless somebody is a professional or a wannabe trying to insult how they play seems utterly ridiculous.
