Ok so we are awake, or at least somewhat awake.
I’ll just let y’all know, that I haven’t really been dealing much since April. Was dealing a 19 game limit mix game that was running out of ATX but the game runner had a hard time finding dealers and the game didn’t always make, so the schedule was unreliable and i was making more playing so I quit and just played full time.
Then a bunch of shot happened, and then I went on a downswing in poker while I was on a life downswing as well.
So I’ve been picking up underground dealing shifts and getting staked to kind of balance all the variance I’m experiencing financially, but as of late I just barely even have the heart to put in even a full PLO session.
Which lead me to start playing these smaller live tournaments, but again, just bricked right outside the money a dozen times.
Now that I’m like “I need to reset my mindset and remove stress from my life.”, I’ve decided to just deal more and do some relaxing and getting **** done.
And my point here, is that I was in the same kind of mindset about dealing that I’m in about poker, and it’s that feeling of being burned out.
I know one thing I’m struggling with, and I feel I always have, is balancing my life in this kind of lifestyle.
It’s like, I’ll play every day for 3-4 weeks straight, want to take breaks, need a break, but still not take it until I just literally have no motivation to even get out of bed anymore.
I recognize this, and have adamantly been trying to put together a plan to do that.
Organizing my life, never realized I’ve never tried to actually do that **** before.
Now I mostly don’t have a choice if I want to be where I’m trying to get to.
Which leads us to today,
About to go in here to deal this tournament. Supposed to be a pretty big thing for the ATX Card House, at least that’s the impression I’ve gotten as the new person on staff.
The owner says about 70 people, and in Austin card rooms, that’s a lot.
Not sure what all is gonna go down today, but it’s primed to be a good day. I was told at least $20hr for the tournament downs, and there are usually tips on top of that too.
I’m pretty excited, I love everyone here that I work with, and it’s definitely the most positive work environment I’ve had since coming to Austin back in October last year.
Ok team, we gonna win today
