When my friends an I went, we just took an Uber that day. It was packed, and it looked like parking wasn’t all that easy to come by on a busy day either.

No idea. I went early on a bike and saw the meters and signs there. It felt weird--weirder than having to pay to park at a Vegas casino.

Gonna start dealing for the ATX card house starting Tuesday. Worked there back in May dealing a 5/10-10/20 19 game mix, but I was just working for the game runner not the card house. We had some differences, so I quit the mix and just been staying in the underground out here for the last few months.

Was playing a $80 20k SS 20 min blinds, single re-entry and ran into my friend Chris who was working at Full House when a few months ago they merged with ATX Card House. He and I talked about him getting promoted recently, but somehow in my head, I thought “oh, at Full House.” But no, technically it’s at ATX.

Then I think, “Hmmm, I liked working “with”everyone there, just not “for” that game runner. But the guy who runs ATX is cool, so maybe I’ll try working in another card house.”

So gonna have a bit of a change from the last few months since I had all but given up on working for card houses because they’re all kinda greedy and I can’t get with the lack of player appreciation.

But I digress.

Tonight we get to Ironman an underground 1/2 plo game, usually plays pretty big too. Went til 8am last time ... hmm I’m going in to ATX at 7pm on Tuesday til they close whenever too, they said sometimes not til 11am? Or never?

Watch your back at all times. Literally and figuratively. Some of these guys do so much "business" that they can't make a game anymore, so they try to stay in the background as hidden partners. Don't let them steal your tips and don't deal a wrong game--the poker world has a long memory.

As for the tip thing, it’s getting better than it was in the card rooms, but dealing underground makes twice as much.

Dealt one underground game and made $250hr dealing 25/50/100 PLO 3 handed. That game took like 40% of my tips, but the guy who got me the gig said it’d only be 20% so he covered the extra 20% and paid me out 80%.

Texas Card House takes 20% out of the tips, and I know Shuffle was taking tips out of the dealer pool for floor when dealers were barely making $20hr but floor had hourly of $25+ and still took tips. I don’t know what the tip out for the other card rooms, and I don’t think ATX takes a cut, but I’ve never been on the payroll at ATX so they might for some.

The game I’m dealing tonight is underground and no tip out, it’s my favorite game to deal. I also am working my way into rotation for a Wednesday PLO game, but they just moved from south Austin to East Austin and lost a lot of players who weren’t on text so it’s been harder to get scheduled.

Last night the second table made at like 8:30 short handed, there was one objection to doing even a round of PLO, so it started as Holdem.

Eventually it switched to a round of 1/3 NLH and a round of 1/2 PLO.

Do a 2.5hr down and make $94

10 minute break to refresh and pop a caffeine pill with some DayQuil.

Did I mention I started a cold yesterday morning?

Anyway, 2nd down is 2 hours and I get pushed for a mother quick break. Cash in my tips, $94 again. They got a little better when the round and round started

I’m like “Yes, almost dealt off that marker from Saturday.”

So I get back in, game changes to all PLO, then winds up breaking at 2:15am

Made $27 in the last hour or so of my down, so that kinda hurt. But hey, it was a good night and no big screw ups lol

Anyway, so I don’t even fall asleep until like 5am because of this sickness :/

Woke up at like 2pm, took a quick dip in the pool and about to get ready to head up to deal at 7pm.

Gotta drive an hour north from south Austin through Austin traffic over the river, yikes

Wish me luck, hopefully tomorrow I can get some time to play

I look down at my sons picture on my phone. Just got this super cute sticky phone pocket for my phone case with our picture on it. I was admiring how blue his eyes looked, he’s so adorable guys.

Then I look up, seat 3 is still tanking. He’s an older guy, been playing pretty tight. I wanted to spice things up so I say “clock.”.

I think stack sizes were about equal, I may have had him slightly covered with like 30-35k

He tanked for a really long time, and after the hand I went on a smoke break and when I came back he was like “That was a really bad call, I did probably do that partly out of tilt.” Referring to the hand where I took half his stack out kicking him with trips earlier.

Against a different player in a different hand, I’m not so sure I’d come back to jamming river, but I do think I can/should find more triple barrels more often when draws and floats get made on the turn.

Admittedly, I find myself to cbet probably 95% of the flops I see when taking last aggressive action preflop, will barrel all turns checked to me in position unless I feel I’m being trapped, but feel like I lose commitment to firing that 3rd barrel on the river, probably for fear of being trapped?
