Hello 2+2!

My name is Jussi and I’m 19 years old Finnish grinder. I started to play MTTs about a year ago and fulltime I’ve been playing for 10 months now. I had a few thousand dollars bankroll that I had gathered playing cash after turning 18. The beginning was tough and I was struggling for almost two months, but I kept trying to understand the game more and joined one training site and found awesome people that were playing the same or a bit higher stakes than me that I could talk poker with daily. That really helped me and slowly but steadily I started to see some results. I had my first 4 figures score in June 2012 when I was still working and it felt pretty damn good to go to work after that even though only had a few hours of sleep!

My work ended at the beginning of July and after that I started to play fulltime.I had a really good start and won roughly 30kd over the summer. Then became fall and things got harder, I wasn’t playing too well and lost 400 avg buy ins in 3 months. Then when I finally decided to do something about it and started playing off-peak times and just grinded all the low variance tournaments with smaller and softer fields, things started to work again and in one month I had won that 400 buy ins back and was ATH again at the end of 2012.

I had much stuff going in January and the volume I was used to put in in December dropped significantly. Only lately I have got back to the grinding mode and found the spark to play again. This promises good things when soft summer games come closer every day and of course for SCOOP where I’ll be playing my first 4 figs buy in ever online!

So, the goal of this blog is to keep myself writing here and hold me responsible for everyone who maybe decides to read this to put updates and tell how I have been working for my game so I will keep up with other players and get past the ones better than me. I want to be good at this real bad, I have never been that in anything but in this I can be if I just keep working hard. I probably can’t be the best but that remains to be seen, no harm in trying either. The great thing about poker, and maybe the one that really makes me passionate about it, that it’s fair. No matter your race, your looks, your income or education, in poker table the only thing that matter is how good of a player you are. And that you can work for. All those hours you put into studying and playing will show up as long as you keep honest to yourself.

But to make things interesting, I will put one goal however. I hope I can win 200k more until the end of this year in order to buy myself a place and move on my own. This would secure me a proper bankroll to keep doing what I do and have some money aside for life expenses so I wouldn’t really have to worry about the financial stuff too much. I also wish I could play some bigger live event next year ! In general I'm just looking to starting to enjoy life more and do things what I like. Things shouldn't be so serious and poker definitely not

I guess here’s plenty of stuff for the first post already. Thanks if you got this far! Just opened a twitter account too, I’ll put a link here if I get active there at all.

Laters!

I thought summer was the hardest time for poker since all the fish is on vacation or outside all day long.......

First day of grinding after Sunday. Four days break is pretty long for me so felt nice to be back on the field. Made 3 final tables and tons of mistakes but in general felt alright and didn't get exhausted at any point. Had 20 tables max running with just a few turbos so that was nice too. Still having problems with Party and FTP though, tough to get used to different softwares but hopefully it'll get better soon. Table dynamics sooo much harder to follow and sitting out constantly on FTP

Thought I'd also start a little gym diary here. I'm a COMPLETE fish there so maybe if I have to put the results here it would make me to work harder I'm going there 4 times a week now and trying to do some program I found online. Have some problems with knees so need to be careful with squats but don't want to leave them out either!

Not sure about the right terms but this is what I did today:

Incline dumbbell bench press: 9x20kg, 7x20kg, 10x15kg
Some random chest exercise: 2x12x7kg
Shoulder press in smith: 3x10x25kg (+whatever the bar is)
Triceps in machine: 2x10x40kg
Squats: 2x10x50kg. Have to do this really carefully, was pretty easy so I think this will improve everytime for at least a month now.
+ random core workout.

Lol so ashamed of these, definitely gonna make me workout harder

Tomorrow hitting gym again and another day at the office later in the evening! Need to get shape for SCOOP

Haha Still fairly hopeless. Thanks!

Slowly reaching for 100k mark for the year. Had a good chance yesterday to get pass it but blew it obv. Had I succeeded I would've kept a day off today but now I'm like LOL @ days off. A bit worried how it will affect my game to trying to reach some exact mark but I'm trying my best not to think about it too much.

Didn't play very well yesterday in general either. Had one FTP tournament in final table when I had the most tables up and sharkscope subscription had just ran out so it was a bit of a hassle to get it up. Ended winning that final table but at the same time was in a huge hurry everywhere and just couldn't focus very well and made poor decision one after another. Gladly ran so good that this time it wasn't huge of a problem but still, I need to be able to play my best and not to get exhausted after 3 hours of play even if I have major decisions to be made in many tables.

Today resting day from gym so think I'll try to do some scretching and meditation before evening session. Yesterday workout:

Leg curl: 2x10x45kg. Not exactly sure of this, the machine on the gym was really bad couldn't do it properly
Lat pull down: 3x10x45kg
Seated row: 3x12x55kg
Some exercise for lats: 2x10x45kg
Biceps (dumbbell): 3x10x10kg
Some lower ab exercise: 3x10x35kg

Didn't have any proper meal prepared yesterday before starting to play which was a huuuge mistake. Not that I didn't eat anything but still. Also sucks that here where I live there's not place to get any food after like 9pm so have to drive 20km in the middle of the night if want to get some. Think I'll start looking at renting some place after summer depending how the games go.

Actually after writing this kinda feel like the day off would be a wise move, just prepare for tomorrow and give my brains a rest before hitting a big sunday session. Yeah, think I'll do that rather than chase some stupid 6figs mark. Life is a one long session.

Had the biggest Sunday session ever a couple of days ago with 6x215d majors and a couple over 500d ones and then handful of 50-100d. Didn't go too well. Mostly just lost flips / setups etc but also had BIG troubles focusing with Party tables up and finally when I got rid of the Pokerfest ME also started playing better again. Not sure why I hate that software so much, just can't stand it and can't get used to the dynamics at all. From now on playing there just max 1 tournament / week and probably not even that. Bubbled whale and megadeep and got like 40th in Sunday Challenge so finally getting something going on 888 even though ended losing this time. Overall I'd say I didn't play well enough to deserve winning so probably just ran average and that ended to a losing session. Had Winamax main on day2 but got koed 250th or so.

Yday booked small bet with my friend whether or not I can beat him in 2/5 tennis matches at the end of the summer. He isn't very good at it but I'm probably one of the worst players anyone has ever witnessed so this is going to be a tough one. Might be fun report here how I have progressed. Hopefully can start playing in 1-2 weeks.

Had a gym day again yesterday. Was so tired after busting that winamax tournament that fell asleep 4 hours earlier than normally. Means I only ate like 1500kcal the whole day lol, well done me.

Bench press: 3x5x57,5kg, 1x4x57,5kg
Some random chest exercise (dumbbell): 2x15x7,5kg
Shoulder press (dumbbell): 3x5x20kg
French curl (straight bar): 2x6x32,5kg, 1x5x32,5kg

Had to give up the squats, just can't do them. Need to find some other exercise now to place that! Today dead lifting (need to learn the proper technique in this) and other back stuff.

Was a bit tiring update, just woke up an hour ago and waking up at 9pm is something I haven't done in a while again. Anyways on the grind today again, going to focus more on different decisions this week and play less tables so I'll be ready for SCOOP in time.

Been watching this on repeat lately:

Still need to wait a year though. Definitely good thing in the end cause I don't really even have the bankroll to go this year but man how I'd like to go

---------

Back to the reality then. Woke up early today to get a Mother's day gift for my mom. Well actually I woke up cause fell in sleep without brushing my teeth and when that happens I will never sleep for full hours but wake up like after 2-4 hours of sleep. Not sure why that is. However for good karma I'll tell myself the former.

Haven't watched any videos or went through HHs this week yet. Been marking some while playing and won a small turbo during the week which I'l be reviewing today. Somewhat excited to review the turbo actually, haven't done those in a while and definitely millions of areas where I have to be improving in them.

Today will also be starting a 15 day period of grinding. Took yesterday off and have really nothing booked for today (like I have for any day ever? lol) so might aswell start to warm up for SCOOP. Took a look at the schedule more closely yesterday and noticed two 1k buy in events with 1M gtd on Tuesdays. Think I'll be playing those or most likely just the second one but have to see how the series goes. Mid main I'll be playing for sure.

The mixed ones are fascinating. I must admit I hardly play anything other than NLHE MTTs, usually not even 6max. I haven't played cash at all in 13 months and omaha tournaments just a handful. But it's always fun to learn new so I'll definitely be playing some of the low mixed ones. Let's see if I can make a run

--------------

Thought I'd update gym stuff only like every Friday from now on since I don't really have much to say daily and if I only have my gym workout to update I'd rather not spam this thread for nothing. So from now will be putting these every Friday or Saturday. These are just for me to keep track where I'm going fwiw.

Tuesday:

Dead lift: 4x5x97,5kg
Chin up: 3x7 (adding extra weight next week)
Barbell bent over row: 3x6x60kg
Biceps (barbell): 3x6x27,5kg
Power wheel (on knees): 3x15

Thursday:

Leg press: 2x10x150kg, 12x150kg
Leg extension: Can't remember the weight now but 2x10 with something and was pretty over it after.
Incline dumbbell bench press: 9x,20kg, 8x20kg, 7x20kg
Lateral raise: 3x10x6kg
Triceps in machine: 2x10x45kg
Power wheel: 3x15

Friday

Leg curl: 3x10x40kg
Lat pulldown: 2x7x50kg, 1x8x45kg, 1x10x40kg
Seated row: 3x10x55kg
Rear shoulder row: 2x12x32,5kg (just started this, was easy ish, should go up every week for a while at least)
Biceps (dumbbell): 2x10x10kg
Some lower ab exercise: 3x8x35kg (really tried to do this without using legs too much and think found a decent form now)

Gl for scoop everyone!
