Hi Everyone!

I have been reading the threads on here for a while now and i thought i would make one myself to keep a track of my progress and hopefully one day, to look back on a journey of success.

A little bit about me - I'm a 30 year old from the UK. I got in to Poker about 13 years ago for a bit of fun. 1 year after first playing, on my 18th birthday, i got a job in a local casino as a Poker Dealer. I worked in the casino for about 3 years, during this time i also started playing poker more seriously and started to study the game. In 2016 i decided to quit my dealing job and try it out full time as a Live professional poker player. I did this for about 2 years with reasonable success. I played mostly 1/2 with some one off 2/5 and 5/10 when the games were extra juicy. Over the 2 years i was in about 75k profit. At the time this was very good money for me as i lived with my parents still and had minimal expenses. Sadly during this time i had a hell of a lot going on in my personal life , my mental health took a nosedive and a mix of the lifestyle of a poker player took its toll massively not having a structured life. I needed some change in my life and i stopped playing, not wanting to leave the house due to my issues.

Fast forward 7ish years and i had a successful early career in a completely different field ' A proper job '. Anyway long story short, i left my job about 6 months ago after a bit of a debacle. During these years i slowly got back in to Poker and using it as a side hustle. This brings us to where we are today.

I've set myself the challenge of moving away from the live felt on to the online scene and starting from the bottom and try make a living from this game once again. Now i could have started higher and i have the facilities to do so , but that wouldn't be much of a challenge. I've also not played online cash much before, and only played a few odd tournaments. Now i understand Live and Online are completely different in regards to skill level, which is why i want to start lower and work my way up.

I started at 10nl but in terms of this blog, it will be starting where we currently are, 25NL. I am playing the 9Max Ante Cash Games on GG. Now these games have big rake (10bb) but they are 200bb deep and i think there's so much more dead money here , rather than RnC or 6 max. I also currently am enrolled in the 'Killer Whale' promo where we are receiving 50% rakeback and hope to make the 400k points required by late April to Platinum Whale. There's also the GG care which we are receiving on average $30 a day from. I understand there is much better sites regarding lower Rake , but i really like the GG software and i think it's super soft. Now as you move up, the rake lowers, so the plan is to try move up quickly but still use a conservative approach.

I will post my 25NL graph to date below, but remember this is pre rake, as GG's Pokercraft doesn't include it, funnily enough I will be investing in PT4 as it goes in to much deeper detail and can see results including the rake.

2024 GOALS

Play 1 million hands online
Reach 100NL and be a good winning player at these stakes.
Improve personal Fitness and Health

I'll be posting regular updates, hands and general ramblings regarding the challenge.

If anyone has any Questions, tips/advice , fire away.

LFG!

Not played too much over the last 2 days, as my sleeping pattern is messed up. Games through the night (12-6am UK time) are quite poor, loads of nits about around this time for some reason. Played just shy of 4k hands but managed to do pretty well.

Would like to sign up to a training site of some sort, does anyone have any recommendations that primarily focus on LL 9 Max or are they more focused around 6 max?

Peace

The bulk of sites are focused on studying 6 max games. But I think most concepts are similar in 9 max and 6 max.
Except for playing in early positions/against early positions where the ranges are much narrower.

Here I recently made a small selection of educational sites, maybe someone else will make input:

So, I've just invested in a new Computer for my office. My current PC is about 10 years old and it is comically slow. GG runs so bad on it, the tables crash, when you loads chat it just crashes , constant freezing etc.

I've gone with the below and hope this improves things, i do play some games as well , so it's not just been bought purely for Poker. Don't know much about PC's but searched up some stuff and i think it should be a decent spec.

Not much poker being played atm for same reasons above, hopped on for about an hour today +$50.

Going to have a long relaxing weekend and get back to the grind when the new PC arrives on Monday.

My PC is also over 10 years old and was laggy af especially when playing on GG + other sites at the same time.

Then I bought RAM Upgrade (2x8GB), spent 28€ on it and PC is going fine again. Also i think it is important to clean the inner room from dust and dirt so the air can circulate good.

So... The last few days have been pretty breakeven. I've put in a ton of volume in the last 3 days. I decided to grind for the leaderboards and had a 1st and 2nd place finish. I think im going to just stick with 6 tabling for now though, instead of 9. With playing 9 the action is very fast and you don't have much time to think through hands while you've got other tables constantly flashing and your time bank honking at you.

I've had a few brutal hands. Top boat v Quads 3 times in 48hrs and folded KK TWICE preflop, but was correct both times. I feel like at these stakes Pre Flop aggression is always nutted. People don't even 3 bet light apart from a few regs and lets not talk about 4/5 bets which is always AA or KK. I'm overfolding massively pre and post flop, but i think it's the correct thing to do at these stakes as everyone is so face up.

Been looking at these today and trying to take away some info. Bare in mind these stats are Full Ring 9 max. I think winning out of the small blind over 75k hands is pretty decent, no? I am very aggresive against LP opens , due to people opening way too wide, i actually think some open any 2 cards attempting to steal and 3 bets have a massive success rate against LP opens at full ring out of the blinds.

Was also suprised to see KK winning 3x less money than AA. Is that about right? I'd have thought it would be quite a bit closer!

winning in the small blind after this sample is great , KK should be closer than that to AA but not really enough of a sample. Do you find these games to be worthwhile considering the rake? Also why did you choose GG over other sites ?

I like GG because of the software and i think its stupidly soft. I've not been on stars in 10 years, although from watching streams etc it still looks the same! I don't actually know much about other sites. The rake is brutal at full ring 25nl, it's about 10bb! However.... With the "50% cashback" promo (I know it's not actually 50 cos pvi...) GG care and Leaderboards, i'm getting quite a significant amount of that back. I can come top 5 in Leaderboards without much effort getting at a minimum $40 a day ($140 for 1st if i grind) , GG care is averaging about $30-$40 a day + the cashback... it's not all that bad.

I plan to move up at the end of the month to 50nl all being well. I've been observing a few of the tables and there seems to be an absolute load of whoppers at these tables, even more than 25nl!

I'm also planning to get RIO membership and do some hard study next week.

Fair enough , I also tried GG for a bit on the 6 max tables and RnC. just found everyone to be too nitty but that table looks juicy tbf. Short deck on gg is nice though from what i saw. I play mainly NLH on party and stars myself.

Hi guys - another FR/antes reg checking in. Anyone want to discuss the games?

I just saw that you place highly on the leaderboards - how do you do that? If I play like 6+ hours 8tabling I only get about 2k points i think... But you get way more, so I guess that means the winners aren't necessarily bots or account-sharers...
