Hey 2+2,

I want to make this thread at 2+2 mostly about poker ( I will create a blog to write more offtopic ( maybe even videos? ), i will explain why later on). So here we go!

My name is Jaroslaw Tumidajski ( most people know me as Jarek or Jaro ). I am 22 years old, currently living in Yonkers, NY and currently working as a storekeeper. Long, short story after reading thread "living out of my car in Florida..." by Mike Wolf i was so fascinated that I'm planning on doing the same thing. I played mostly online but i couldn't proper to maintain good bankroll management ( For example: deposited 200$ i would make extra 300$ in a day but then i was filling so confident i went playing higher limits and I know the reason why i keep doing that. Its because i couldn't see dollars bills. I think you might get confused what i mean. For me it was just the number, i didn't see that in my pocket or anything, i think most of people might have same problem ). Since i came to USA, 3 years ago ( been here before couple of times ) from Poland after BF i couldn't play online because im living in lovely NY state. So after that i played couple live cash games with my friends ( mostly every time i went home with extra money ). I also played one $40 buy in tournament. I ended up first with one more guy out of 28 people ). Biggest online achievement? I think it was 3rd place in satellite to NAPT in Mohegan Sun in 2011 on pokerstars ( if i remember correctly 1st place won $12,5k packet, 2nd place $1,1 and i won $400)

What are my goals:

I want to play poker and travel like Mike did. I want to grind my way up to $1million dollars and hopefully win a bracelet.

Why I want to do it?

I know I'm still young but i been thru a lot already ( lost both of parents in age 15 and 16 ), which makes me think about life little bit different than most people at my age. I been working in woodworking company, construction company and now I'm working in Parts department in the biggest transport company in Westchester county but this is not what i want to do for rest of my life. I just cant see myself doing what I'm doing today in 20 years from now. I want to try doing something i love doing ( Playing poker ), i want to bring some happiness into my life. According to couple of my friends im very lucky at poker and gambling so why not to try. I can always come back to the regular life if i fail ( that will not happen tho ) but is always good to have plan B.

When do i start playing ?

I want to start playing poker and live out of my car in about one or two months. ( just bought a car and i still need pay for it $2k ) after i pay it of i want to get around $2k for my bankroll and i will drive to AC to play poker there. Hopefully i will increase my bankroll to 5$k before it will get too cold in AC to stay in the car and i will head to Miami to play poker there. ( that's is the plan for now ) if i will be still increasing my bankroll i will prob drive to Las Vegas.

How i will prepare myself to this trip ?

I want to read as many books about live cash games as possible ( if you know any book that will help, please post it in this topic ). I will head to AC about 3 - 5 times before my trip for poker sessions to see if my game style progress after reading books. I also will to contact Mike Wolf to give me good advice. ( hopefully he can do that for me )

Any suggestion, critics or good words are appreciated.
PS. Sorry for my grammar ( still learning language )

Jaro

TO MODS: Please do not remove this topic. I will create a blog so i can write more off-topic there. Here im planning on writing only about poker.

Wow, this sounds like a good plan, but aren't you taking it all a bit for granted. I mean you have no safety net if you get cleared and with the amount of hands you will be playing to earn $1million that is highly likely. But hey I wish you the best of luck.

gl man, many will tell you you are crazy, it cant be done, bla bla bla. Im not that guy, I believe in going after your dreams.

If you already thought this thru and are sure about what you are doing, go for it. But be sure it is for the right reasons, I mean, if it is cause you really love the game and would love to do that for a living its ok but for many its just because they dont like their jobs or school or they think its easy money. And that is completly wrong.

I hope you make it and I will follow your prgress man, gl

Hey, thanks for taking your time to read my story. I believe in power of mind ( If you are telling yourself you will achieve something everyday and work hard, sooner or later you will get what you wish for). I know it will be extremely hard but if i don't try it i might regret that for rest of my life.

I want to also thank you for reading my thread. I actually was thinking about that long time ago ( even before i found Mikes Wolf thread ). The only difference i was planning on going back to Poland to play ( but since Poland don't have a lot of casinos it would be very hard to do it ). My father teach me how to play 5 card poker when i was 9 and I feel in love with the game since then ( he didn't know about texas holdem tho ) and if I can do what I love, travel, meet new people and earn some cash while doing it, why not to try? If I fail i can always come back what Im doing right now. ( but i dont want to you a word failure because i will succeed ) but I will never regret that I never try

Best of luck, you won't be living the high-life in the beginning but it should be a fun ride. I'd suggest heading to Syracuse and playing at the Turning Stone a few times too!

Don't let people get you down(Lots of Debbie Downers), if you really want to achieve this then go all out for it. The problem for you is that you can't get tilted too easy, you've got no backup.. Remember that losses are going to come, don't let them get the best of you.

Thank you very much for your kind words. I'm aware of living in low standards but thats the part of the journey. ( i don't mind sleeping in the car for example but i know it will be more than that ). I know that a lot of people will be saying "that cant be done" or "you are crazy" but i got the dream and i will fight for it. One of the reasons of creating new thread was that i can share my thoughts with you guys because most of my friends wouldn't understand them.

Hopefully i will be able to go Syracuse to play. I would love to travel around US and play poker and that's one of my main goals

1 milly eh? That's quite the high bar bro. I like high tho. But u also have to be a realist. Ur best score is 400 and u want a milli. What steps area taking to pursue ur goal? Are u studying? A mill especially now a days is no easy feat buuuuuut I ball with my dogs from Yonkers.

A good poker mind is a well rested and trained one. Sleeping in a car is the pits

I know that aiming for one million is insane but that is my long term goal ( it might not happen in a year, two or 5 but sooner or later I will get there. My first step is to get to $5k. 2nd to 10k$. If I can achieve that I will create more short term goals. Yes, I'm currently reading " Let there be range" by tri, slowhabit' Nguyen and cole 'cts' south. If you know any good book I can read, post a title please.

"Reading poker tells" is a new book by Zach Elwood that I read good things about and will be picking up next. Only 10 bucks on kindle.

GL, always have a backup, and don't burn any bridges on your way out.

I know that it will be very hard at first but I have nothing to lose. I can always come back to regular 9-5 life ( i talked to my boss about that and he said that i can always come back ) but i will not fail. Thanks for believing in me.

why don't you just keep playing in local games/working/living in apartment and then head to AC or miami?

i mean, i know the rake is really bad usually but the games are super-juicy.

There are not really a lot of local games here and i feel like i would not be fully investing my time into poker because of work

PS. Today I started 2nd job, Im so motivated to pay of my car loan and get bankroll.

I have little update for you guys.

So last saturday i went to AC to play 1/2 NL Holdem. First time i went to Borgata. I get there about 9 AM o'clock and i finished playing 6 AM next day. 21 hour non stop grinding ( ofc with short bathroom/food brakes ). I went home with +$427. Lets get more into details. I started with 100BB but in about hour i was down to 70 so i rebuy for another 50BB. I was playing Premium hands to make my stack bigger when i got into all in with KK vs KK. The guy was prob REG since dealers knows him. I was on button. REG was SB. 3 people call the BB blind and when action went to me i raised to 12. SB raised to 36 everybody fold i call it. Flop came and if remember correctly was J 5 2 ( dont remember suites but it was nothing to worry about it ). He bet 36 i raised all in ( i put him on TT+, i doubt that he got trips maybe AJ ) he called and showed KK, we split the pot. Then after that hand was back and forth action i was up about +100BB all the time. Other thing is i lost 3 times with JJ vs QQ vs 3 different people after flop ( all the time highest card on the flop was T ) but in end of the night i finally hit another J with JJ on flop vs very loose player ( he lost prob 600$ in 40 minutes ). I got JJ on early position i bet 12. I got 3 callers. Flop come KJ5. I bet 25. 1 players folded, one called and i got re raised to 50 by the lose player ( and this moment i was thinking how to get his all chips ) i think i made mistake re raising to 100. ?) both players folded. The loose player want to see my hand so bad he called the floor manager to tell me that i need to show him my hand ( he folded ) so i didnt show him that hand and he got very pissed about that. He lost his remaining chips ( about 50BB ) next hand bluffing with nothing. i waited couple more hands but didnt get nothing interesting and since i was starting to get really tired and stand up thanks everybody for a good game, took my money and i call it a night. Went back home with extra $427.

There a lot more hands but usually i was calling BB with suited connectors and i was raising with premium hands. Since i was playing very tight aggressive i steal BB couple with missed suited connectors. ( A lot people was calling bets with A and weak kicker, and if there wasnt A on flop it was actually easy to take that pot ).

I got question about $comps at Borgata. I got 27$ playing 21 hours. I know that playing 1/2 NL is not a lot points so i have question how much points are you guys getting playing there?
