Listened to the meat of (1/3 way through) brothers karazamov today for 2 hours while walking to the a venue to see phish, my new favourite book and my new favourite band. from the grand inquisitor to father zosima's childhood recollections, then phish played a ton of my favourite songs. Also managed to not be remotely tempted by thousands of people circling me smoking joints and drinking beer, this was an essential test to see what my equity is in making it to 1 year sober, probably just shot up at least 2 fold, especially since when I indulged in vice it was 90 percent of the time in the context of phish or grateful dead or similar artists

got back to grinding yesterday and today after a week or so break, playing zoom even though its probably lower ev, just the fun of 4 tabling z with a double espresso and chunes is oh so pleasing

You've got to understand and respond to what is making you abuse substances. Until you do that, you'll always fall back on substances.
Your poker game, etc. will probably improve a lot if you deal with whatever it is that you're going through mentally.
The substances themselves aren't the problem, they're just a symptom of some other problem that you're going to have to solve sooner or later. Good luck.
