Hey guys this is my first post and I figured this is the best place to put it. Anyway I am 24 years old and I have been playing poker for just over 2 years now. It all started after 2 weeks of really unfortunate events such as, losing a friend over a stupid drunk fight, getting my window bashed in, my dog dying, me and my girlfriends apartment getting broken into while we were vacationing in Hawaii, then the day we got back from vacation in Hawaii my best friend dies very unexpectedly. So this was definitely the worst two weeks of my life. I went into a incredible depression and started smoking a ton of pot. Anyway he died on August 2, 2010 and it was on August 10, 2010 that I discovered poker and fell in love with poker. I know its kinda crazy but I had one of those moments where I immediately knew this is what I was going to do for the rest of my life. I played almost everyday straight until I got my job as a poker dealer in a local poker room. Then I started dealing more than I was playing. This was a huge turning point in my game. It was sort of like seeing earth from space for the first time. I then started focusing more on reading my opponents and learning to play the player. Every hand I dealt I would mentally note how it was played, who played it, and what tells I observed. I have read multiple poker books, used training websites, and have had some great mentors. I played in 2 $1000 NLHE, $550 NLHU, and won a seat to a $1,600 event but didn't get to play due to some more unfortunate events that cost me losing my bankroll. I haven't cashed in a tourney yet but I know I have a win coming soon. The more I play the deeper I go. I am on the brink of becoming Professional I just know it.

My poker goals are:

Transition from dealing full time to playing poker full time.

Play in all known poker tour events around the world.

Become sponsored

Win a minimum of 2 bracelets.

Have a $1,000,000 bankroll before the age of 27.

Anyway thanks for reading and good luck to everyone on here. I will keep posting and updating as I progress through this epic journey:-)

Yeah unfortunately I am only doing brick and mortar at the moment. I started playing only a few months when online was shut down by the feds. I was just starting to learn hold'em manager as well. There are times I wonder how far I found be if online did't shut down. It would be a lot easier to find a big game plus I'd be able to multitable. About my bankroll it has come and gone and back again and so on, but that is the price of learning the game. Usually what happens is that I build up 4-5k BR and take a big shot at playing wsop events then if I lose I build it back up playing cash. Right now it is hard to build a bankroll because I only get to play cash twice a week other days I am dealing. I am going to try and take a min of 10k to Vegas in June for the Wsop. My bankroll is low right now. I decided pay off a credit card in full just to get it out of the way. It will come back though it always does.

Plus I do have my smaller goals those are just the big ones and those aren't even my biggest goals they are just my poker goals. I also have daily and monthly goals but those aren't really important enough to post.

Super huge goals but i admire the will power. It sounds like you have your eyes on the prize and know what you are going to do to go after it. I would deff say get online though.... even if its a small roll you will get twice the amount of hands seen if not more vs brick and mortar room. and you can play when you don't have a ton of time to head to the card room etc.

Ah, I think your smaller goals would be great for the thread and give you something to post here on a regular basis. I would be interested in reading about what it's like being a low stakes live player.

Im guessing pretty horrible to start. I have been playing casinos recently and yeah its really soft, but the hands per hour is so low its really slow and this makes the variance higher.

If you are focusing on tournaments, does it make sense to play online at that WPT site? That's legal for US. I don't know if it's any good, I play on illegal sites where I'll probably have my BR confiscated, but... maybe the guys know.

Paying off debts first seems smart to me. Posting small goals is interesting, I think.
