“If you’re going to try, go all the way.

Otherwise, don’t even start.

This could mean losing girlfriends, wives, relatives and maybe even your mind.

It could mean not eating for three or four days.

It could mean freezing on a park bench.

It could mean jail.

It could mean derision.

It could mean mockery — isolation.

Isolation is a gift.

All the others are a test of your endurance, of how much you really want to do it.

And, you’ll do it, despite rejection and the worst odds.

And it will be better than anything else you can imagine.

If you’re going to try, go all the way.

There is no other feeling like that.

You will be alone with the gods, and the nights will flame with fire.

You will ride life straight to perfect laughter.

It’s the only good fight there is.”

Every time I stop playing this game, I come back to it. Really, I love the game. Loaded up $60 and will start at 2nl. We will "don't try" our way up stakes.

Moving up to 5nl now. Had some great sessions vs whales and had my run of the luck vs regs. Can't expect it to be like that all the time though.

        Good luck

I may try a NL challenge as well, but I haven't played this game regularly in ages. Do you maybe have some advice on what to read/watch? Thank you.

For micros, YouTube: Alfred D, Nick Eastwood.
For higher, YouTube: Help Me, Kal2c

        Hope that helps!

Why would you recommend Nick? He couldn't beat 10NL on one of the softest sites, has a ton of massive leaks and sets a terrible example for mental game.

You're better off watching no content than bad content which teaches you bad habits that cost you a ton of money in the long run and are hard to unlearn.

Rest of the recommendations seems solid though.

Totally agree with you on his mental game leaks but I think by watching him you can still gain some knowledge if not from his hands but from his collabs with pros. There aren't many micros content out there for free.

Thank you for pointing this out. I will admit I knew his videos and laughed at his mental game before. I love how he just gets ecstatic every time he sucks out big time.

As for his win rate, I figured he was a slight winner. Turns out he's basically breaking even (0:23) over a decent sample. His "winnings" are whatever 888 throws at him ...

These two posts work beautifully together to prove my point. The guy has received thousands, if not tens of thousands of dollars worth of free coaching from respected mid stakes+ players such as BenaBadBeat, Ceegee , donthateme and TheWakko. If he's still struggling with a 10NL challenge after all that, then why would anyone in their right mind look to his content for strategy advice?

If you're looking for micro stakes content specifically, I'd recommend scouring the archives of players like phil_sn and Charlie Carrel who have actually successfully completed bankroll challenges and crushed the micros with relative ease.

That being said, sorry for the derail and GL OP.

Had never heard of Eastwood before this. His YouTube videos which he has his hands reviewed by people seem like good content.

Was going well then I started to just punt it off in stupid spots.

        PokerStars - $0.05 NL (6 max) - Holdem - 6 players

        SB: $1.44 (28.8 bb)
        BB: $2.05 (41 bb)

SB posts $0.02, BB posts $0.05

Pre Flop: (pot: $0.07) Hero has A A
fold, Hero raises to $0.12, fold, BTN calls $0.12, fold, BB calls $0.07

        Flop: ($0.38, 3 players) J T 5
BB checks, Hero bets $0.29, BTN raises to $0.87, fold, Hero raises to $2.60, BTN raises to $5.20, Hero raises to $8.08 and is all-in, BTN calls $2.88

        Turn: ($16.54, 2 players) 6

        River: ($16.54, 2 players) Q

        Results: $16.54 pot ($0.86 rake)
        Final Board: J T 5 6 Q

Hero shows A A: (One Pair, Aces)
        (Pre 81%, Flop 14%, Turn 5%)

BTN shows J J: (Three of a Kind, Jacks)
        (Pre 19%, Flop 86%, Turn 95%)

Back to not clicking buttons and actually thinking.

I'm a mental game fish. Going broke like that vs a guy who doesn't 3-bet JJ BTN vs MP tilts me. Is his play standard?

No idea. Probably OK. Apart from the flatting pre.

My mental game isn't the best, either. Once I spew off in one spot, I tend to spew off in a few more after that. Eventually I realize what I'm doing and just log off though.

I'm thinking about tagging the punt hands as they happen. Then making sure I take longer in any decisions for the next 10 mins or so. Might help me from blasting off more stacks.
