Hello 2+2

I am F2P and I have decided to make a poker blog.

I played some micro stakes cash games previously but I just wasn't enjoying the format so I have decided to shift to MTT/SNG and see what those are like.

I am going to be Free 2 Play so I don't intend on depositing. I know that the general consensus is that this is a waste of time but I am excited for the challenge which starting with nothing brings along with it regardless.

My aim is to start with nothing and build up a poker arsenal as time goes on but I am yet to set any concrete goals as I don't really know what to expect from this so I need to feel things out.

So starting off I will be taking what I can from these forums, YouTube etc and try to learn a little bit everyday and develop as time progresses if things go well I can use winnings to pay for different poker resources but starting off it will be free content and freerolls.

I understand this is not for everyone but I hope some of you join me in the journey.

Hello internet

Since I opened this thread I had a look around at sites to see where I wanted to start this challenge and after checking multiple sites I have settled on iPoker due to them running freerolls every hour for most of the day.

I have written down some questions that come into my mind while playing and use this as a base of my study, then I will go to youtube/forums and look for answers and I have been developing this way, like how to play vs fish that won't fold - shoutout SplitSuit, thanks for the content.

Things have been going ok so far I have played about 30ish games.

A couple things about freerolls I found. Some are small fields and some are huge fields. The huge ones I won't waste anymore time with as the payouts are about 4-5% of the amount of people who register and just seems a bit nuts tbh. There are smaller field freerolls and they are a lot better. Another thing that I notice is that due to the pool it is hard to differentiate between someone clicking buttons and someone completely value owning you because they play so similar, like the min 3bet, pot, pot, all in - sometimes its air/bottom pair, sometimes its Aces I just wish that I don't hit anything decent on those so I can fold.

I am having fun with this challenge and feel I am learning, although I feel freerolls aren't real poker until you are near the bubble at least but it is free practice right?

I will make an update on Monday as I want to give a weekly progress update so I will stick with Mondays for that with maybe some filler of my thoughts in between.

I will take some time between now and then and continue to play but think about what I want to achieve what kind of goals I want to set for myself.

Freerolls are probably not the place where you can learn something, but it is a way to rise from scratch. If you like it, then no one can forbid you to do it

Thank you for dropping by slyless, I agree, but my circumstances aren't great IRL so I have to make do with what I have. I will rise from scratch, a long process but I am ready.

Hello 2+2

Week 1 is in the books.

MTT: 72
Bankroll: $8.03
Tickets: 2x€2

I have been watching a lot of videos, mostly MTT reviews by better players and picking up different things like bet sizing, both pre flop and post flop, RFI ranges and adjustments based on players left to act, isolating and a whole lot of others.

Something that I am struggling with is the push/fold part of the game. I have seen the charts and have a rough idea of what should be pushed in given situations but I don't know if I should be adjusting based on what a player ahead of me will do. My guess is that, if they are calling wide then should I tighten my shoving a lot or just a little and vice versa if they are calling tight? I also wonder if there is anything that can be used to train this part of the game. I think ICMizer is what I am after but I won't be able to purchase it just yet. Any alternatives or any suggestions?

I am of course struggling with a lot of other things but I will get to all of those eventually.

I have still yet to set myself any long term goals this is a lot to think about at this stage and I want to wait until I know what it is exactly I want and will update the blog with those then.

Anyway, this week I am going to play 100 MTT which will include the 2 tickets as well as the lowest stakes available which will be 10c and 20c MTT, with of course my not at all frustrating freerolls. GL me with the tickets hopefully I can run deep so I can purchase a month of essential on RIO.

So I guess in a sense my short term goals are

100 MTT per week
Watch at least 1 video review per day
Analyse and evaluate my play after every session
Get a month subscription to RIO

I think that is all for now.

GL out there everyone with whatever you are doing

Won some more tickets for MTTs, fired the first one tonight and kind of punted because I was distracted.

I have been reading about and watching videos on mindset and how vital it is in this game. Which brings me to a point that when I was playing tonight I had a friend who called 1 hour into the MTT and I was distracted and I could tell I wasn't focused, I was playing well up until that point and trying to hold a conversation while thinking through hands was distracting and this led me to not playing anywhere near my best.

I have implemented warm ups into my routine which includes a quick meditation and I am sure I will really feel the benefits and play to the best of my ability the more consistent I am.

From now on I will not play if I am distracted or feel rushed because I want to play to the best of my ability.

Had a look on RIO and there looks to be a good series on MTTs by Ryan Martin.

The bankroll continues to grow albeit slowly but the tickets are great value and it is only a matter of time before I hit a score and have a solid micro bankroll, I can feel it coming.

GL everyone

Yes this is the OG approach, much respect for going this route regardless of whether life circumstances forced it or not. The pursuit alone is an honorable one. If the fire is there and you persist despite doubts and doubters, then you are guaranteed to get there in the end. You have epicness on your side which imo means you can't fail unless you give up. In for the follow, go get it dude
