Hello:
My name is Santiago, I play poker 8 years ago and I can say that I am semi busted!. A quick introduction to these 8 years playing:

2010-2013:I start with 20 years old be a Recreational player of $ 1.50.Like i dont had money to play on my own ($ 300 from bankroll in
that time was a lot of money in my country, so i decide cashout this to pay some things in my home) I decided to access a bank with coach that sent me up to play $7 SNGs Where I got Stagnant for a long time , then I was fortunate to meet the coaches who catapulted my game until I reached $ 15 and $ 30 SNGs games.

2013-2016: I tried to play SNGs from $ 30 to $ 200 on my own with a 15k bankroll, was not bad at all but a degen bankroll management, being a pretty good life and playing high MTTs left me again with having to look for a banker that sponsor me Medium / High SNGs. For later in 2014/2015 (I do not remember well) I Try the SNE. Without success reaching the SNE and without so many hours of study, Feeling bad about myself and havig a poor mental game, they left me 3 years quite bad, in fact I still owe some of that money from my banker (make up) for a big down that I had in 6max hyperturbos.

2016-2018: Stop playing SNGs for the low traffic they have had and we decided to stop with me Banker too. Here things got a little better, since I started to play spin and go and climb stakes, already in 2017 I was playing spins of $ 100 to a pretty decent Cev (47) which allowed me to pay enough debts that i had for gambling and loans, but at the end of 2017 pokerstars left Colombia And I had to travel to Mexico to continue playing. I can say that this year was the best in financial terms since I start playing poker. I win 40k aprox in games, I knew a way to make money with BTC and I could make approx 10k more in 3 months.

2018-2019: My first 3 months in Mexico I be pretty lazy, it was the first time I was outside of my country longtime and Playa del Carmen is a great place to live. All this time I was with my girlfriend chilling, trying to reflect on things in my life and trying to change my habits a bit, at that time I weighed 90 kl (My height is 1.70) so I dedicated myself to losing weight and living life in general. Then I didn't have enough bank to play $ 100, I mentally thought I had to play 100$ and no other stake this because I have a pretty ****ed up ego (I hope it has come down a bit now) and there I decided to enter another spin and go deal, my plan was to have a minimum of 10k and then retire to play with my own money again. There were two problems here, I had to travel to Lima becuase my time in Mexico was over (3 months for tourist), besides I wanted a change of city and took the opportunity that I still had because i have some money to travel. The second problem is that I couldnt play in pokerstars again so I had to Find another site to play spin and go, most with bots problem. In the middle of 2018 I was in a MU of 20k and very unmotivated, I could not take the rhythm again and I also felt Stagnant. The truth This year I felt like a mediocre, very lazy, I didn't even have a month of 2k spins, at most 30 hours of study, anyway. From there until the beginning of 2019 continue and recover 5k, to live I kept up with pre rakeback splits (which my stakers very kindly gave me) and other activities that gave me extra money. I had to return to Colombia in August because of a personal problem so The year looked pretty bad. In the middle of 2019 I consider stopping Play spin and go Because the only place that offered spin and go in Colombia was winamax and the truth I was being mediocre in terms of study goals and work hours, so I talked to my stakers and we reached a payment agreement that I still pay month to month.

This brief summary shows several things that I already tired of being in my poker career and in my life in general.
One is to be a conformist and be fine with the fact of earning 1k per month, the second is to be mediocre,
since I know that I have the ability of crush levels but my bad work ethic and that of being a lazy ass put off of my goals , third personal finances in life are very important I so far I feel able to carry a balanced and orderly finances, I think that living in a country where you can do a lot with few money, earning more than the average of the people here and the fact that all my life I didn't have much money they turned me back a wasteful, who wanted to show himself as a rich type of TV, but obviously that makes no sense or anything. With this I say ENOUGHT! The idea of this journal is to be able to keep track of my work, to know if I am doing the things that I set out in my routine, motivate me and maybe motivate someone in my same situation, but the main reason is to make a list of my debts and show them how am I going to pay all the people who trusted me and how am I going to have my bankroll to play PLO.

THE PLO is a game that I have found very interesting since I started playing, but the fact of not having material at that time available and the fact that I felt "Crusher" in SNGS made me put it aside, now I have something like 3 months studying solvers and situations and the truth that I love it.
I will start with a 5k bankroll and play the majority in pppoker since in Colombia we can only play in winamax or pppoker and there is not enough traffic, also because I have a very good rakeback deal that offers me a very good friend and I want take advantage of it and maybe encourage them to play there .

These are my debts:

Loan Amigo F (2019) Current 3.5k (Paying compound interest at 5% for 1 year)
Payment Agreement MU Stakers previous 7k
Debt Friend D (2017) Current 5k (No interest)
Family Debt (2019) 3.5K (2.5% Interest)
Debt Friend M 4k (Interest 5% for 1.5k)
Debt Friend J (2020) 3k
Debt Friend JJ (2020) 8k
Others low bets 1k

FOR A TOTAL OF * 35K OF DEBTS *

My actual cost of live (Food, Apto, gym, ect) is 900 $ Monthly.
Now my income:

-> Approx 600 $ For rakeback of other players in pppoker that play in the clubs where i work
-> For other approx 400 $ Monthly
-> PLO:?

My plan is now that I have covered my living expenses is to pay all my debts playing PLO with a 5k bank, my plan is to leave 60% for the bankroll until I haveBank comfortable to play PLO200 and 40% to pay my debts. I hope this year I can tell you that I am a debt free guy and that he plays PLO200 with his own bankroll.

This is going to be my calendar:

Minimum 60 hours of technical study / mental game
120 hours minimum gameplay:
https://prnt.sc/r9a6du

I will start playing PLO50 $ since the lowest levels there is no traffic in pppoker (Except in omaha 5 cards) and the rake in pppoker is very high. I hope to be in PLO100 in a maximum of 3 months, here I will put graphic thoughts, as I have done with my routine, ect. I hope you like it

If you have any suggestions I would love to hear it! Good day and thanks for reading me

Maybe harsh advice, but with that amount of debt and jumping into an unknown game to you I’d suggest getting a steady job instead. What makes you think poker will work out this time especially jumping right into plo with no prior experience?

I think in the idea of the job , but the average of the paid monthly in my country is 400$/600$ working 8 hours (At least) 5 days per week. this amount is possible one week just in rakeback , also its soo posible i dont winning anything in 1/2 months but i expect in long terms this going to be a good decision. This no a total unknow for me , off course i have to work a lot but the low level of the players where im going to play, the good rakeback deal i have and also working hard with solvers can give me a opportunity .

I think that living in a third world country, it makes sense for you to continue grinding online poker. Like if a full-time job is only going to pay you $100 per week, it's just not worth it. You can literally earn more than that at 5nl.

But your debt is very concerning. Might I ask how you got into so much debt in the first place? How much money have you made in total over the past 10 years of playing poker, how much went to your backers, and how much have you spent on living expenses in those 10 years?

I would've thought the cost of living would be so low that you couldn't accumulate so much debt unless you were basically making no money at the poker tables or had huge hospital bills to pay or something.

The next question is: why do you choose PLO over NLHE? I'm not necessarily saying that it's wrong to play PLO as your main game instead of NLHE, but I'm curious to hear your reasoning behind it.

Anyway, good luck man! I hope you get out of debt soon.

Well I have to say since I start playing poker I don't have any idea of money magnament , So in general my biggest leak of money was the gambling ,play high mtts, sportbets and in some time blackjack . The other leak that I had was travel to other country's and play live tournaments with high buy ins and the last like 2/3 years ago i liked a lot the party so basically have months without play for this.
About how much I win in poker in 10 years is a answer I can't say exactly but for sure I can say I win 100k at least, just in 2011-2015 pre RB in sharkscope have 60k in winnings in 2016-2017 in spin and go I win 40k pre RB in one year and in 2018-2019 i can say was a "breakeven year"

The next question is: why do you choose PLO over NLHE? I'm not necessarily saying that it's wrong to play PLO as your main game instead of NLHE, but I'm curious to hear your reasoning behind it.

Basically I'm tired for play Holdem , I think to be a big winner you have to be passion for what you do and the Holdem in any format ( spin and go, tournaments or cash) don't give me this passion. Other reason I have is (maybe I'm wrong) now the games above all the spin and go format (was the last format I play) in other sites to pokerstars have a lot of bots and the edge you have vs other regs now is more closer, also now is more hard get good games . The PLO is a format I love to study because have a lot of interesting things and the edge you can have vs player with big leaks is bigger than Holdem , also you can get good action in a lot of sites with big pool of recreational/big leak players and for last the live games (I expect in the future play) here have a pretty good action with a lot of recreational players. In summary I think the PLO can give me more edge in the future than Holdem .

Thanks

https://gyazo.com/050b43410ce477dd86396238be609a9f
(i cant put image idk why always appears me 404-image not found i try with lightshot links and gyazo links)

The 1/2 are in brasil reales , so are like NL45$ aprox,Also im playing 60$ in USD tables because the clubs dont have PLO50$. In general the biggest lose EV of the session was this hand vs a fish https://prnt.sc/rai62v Now post played i think is a big mistake i have lately and is bluffing vs fishes , my initial guess is i can do fold some medium hands like 2 vabluffing middle hands a 3 nuts but for sure a recreational played dont fold much 3/4 nuts , also my hand no is the best to do this because i have Acc combo That is a part of him bluff range , i dont like expect much pure bluff in him range Like JJ**.

I will start playing at least 6 hours per day and i want at least this week do 6k hands .

hey man not trying to troll you or anything, but you basically are putting you in a very very stressful situation, looking at your debts is pretty obvious that your $5k bank is made of loans from friends and that you tried this before and it didn't end up well.

Hopefully, this bullet will land but realistically putting yourself those $35k goals of debt plus expenses plus a roll to play 200PLO seems very unrealistic.

i would start with getting some therapy to threaten your gambling addiction first. if you are not mentally ok is very very hard that you will succeed

I dont think is trolling in fact i think is a pretty good advice! For a year I have been working on my mental game and especially the problem I have with gambling, I think that in fact I did this post so as not to feel ashamed of my mistakes and what I have built up to here, because if I had not committed all this series of errors I would never have known the problem I had and the potential that I may have if I do things a few and with a lot of discipline, also because I know that poker is very permeated by the ego and there are many people in my same situation They do not want to put aside their image and prefer to continue playing higher than they should, or gambling to get everything faster or simply feeling bad for having made these mistakes.

The gambling in my life was due to this, to being a guy with a high staker image who could afford to bet very hard or to bet on getting everything faster with minimal effort and The job I have to start doing is to get rid of these stereotypes of having to show me as something or someone and also start to create again the idea that working day by day in my game with tranquility can reach great things. For the other side my family / friends have given me their approval and they will wait for me the time it takes to pay them so I don't feel pressured to play and win (which is another factor that brings my gambling) and for my personal expenses my job as a pppoker cashier gives me enough to be well, so I think I have no pressure and I can do this challenge with peace of mind.

Thanks again for your advice

Good luck with this man, like i said maybe this shot will land.
I just find pretty curious that living in Colombia on just two months in the year you already owe another 11k Debt Friend J (2020) 3k
Debt Friend JJ (2020) 8k , yet you have a bankroll of 5k to play.
Jumping into a game that you haven't beat before at least not in the fashion of making 50k 60k in a year is very ambitious.
You also said that you are working on your mental game but you are 20k in debt within the last 12 months, seems to me that you are just borrowing money to keep the dream alive will putting more and more pressure stress and debt on your shoulders let alone the burden of not showing yourself like a failure to family friends and colleagues.

anyways im subbed and hopefully you will make it and don't put yourself in this situation again.
