Hello all I am an Australian 6max cash player that plays on ACR, excuse my utterly atrocious writing skills, it is certainly one of my weakest attributes. I decided on ACR over Ignition because I like being able to track my opponents, I like having rakeback and the nail in the coffin was the stability of Ignition during this recent mini-boom.

I am very new to poker and my aim is to become a better poker player and make it my main source of income, which would require beating 100nl, I do not expect this to happen overnight, or even this year, as long as I am improving my game there is no specific time limit on this goal. I realize this is a very ambitious goal and the statistics are against me but sometimes you just need to set a goal and do your best to achieve it, if you fall short at least you put your all into it.

My first foray into poker was in 2015 but I did not play enough volume in any one format to comment on my ability back then, I fell in love with the game and immersed myself for around 6-9 months, alcohol and drugs stopped me from doing anything long term my entire life and the nature of that lifestyle drew me away from poker, I finally got sober at the start of 2019 and am happy to say I went from being homeless to living with a wonderful girl, I can't say its always easy but its far better than being the person I once was.

I will be dedicating myself to poker as I have no financial worries and nothing but time right now, I will be aggressively moving up stakes, if I beat a stake over 20,000 hands I will move up until I hit 10nl then I will re-asses, I realize this is not a large enough sample to know if I am a winner at each stake but I have no qualms re-depositing, at this point in time any money put into poker I consider the costs of a hobby so losing is not a problem as long as I am improving.

I will be recording 30 minutes of actual play daily and reviewing it myself and sharing it with my study group, I don't see much talk about watching yourself play and am curious on peoples opinions of its validity. Read/Watch will soon be following a pyramid approach, I will identify a piece of my game I feel I am the weakest in, spend a period of time focusing on improving it and then moving to the next weakest aspect, but for the immediate future my entire game is so weak I need to spend time on my fundamentals as a whole.

Until I improve I am playing a TAG strategy (19/16/8) so far, I will open up my ranges once I have improved my play, at this point in time I would rather avoid getting myself into situations I am not equipped for. I am going through Red Chip Poker's core program and diverging off occasionally on things I believe to be important (For example today I spent my study time on learning intricacies of Flopzilla), then I will read The Grinders Manual and then depending on where I am at either go through From The Ground Up or move to the pyramid learning system.

My current schedule:

5:00am - 5:20am: Wake

5:20am - 6:40am: Study (Review Session/HH Analysis)

6:40am - 7:00am: Break

7:00am - 9:00am: Play Poker

9:00am - 9:10am: Break

9:10am - 10:30am: Study (Read/Watch)

10:30am - 11:00am: Break

11:00am - 1:00pm: Play Poker (Record 30m Session)

1:00pm - 1:30pm: Break

1:30pm - 3:30pm: Play Poker

3:30pm - 3:40pm - Break

3:40pm - 5:00pm: Study (50% Hand Analysis 50% Read/Watch)

5:00pm: Blog

I am willing to remove Study & Play sessions 3 if I feel I am burning out from 10 hours of play/study a day, we shall see how I go. I will be posting a hand, graph and small piece about how I went daily and doing a more all-encompassing update of my journey weekly.

My current insignificant graph of 7.5k hands.

Thank you for accompanying me on this journey and any advice given is much appreciated.

Yes, I have been following your thread since before I posted mine and definitely relate, best of luck in your life and poker journey!

A very slow day in terms of hands, usually I will clear over 1500 4 tabling, there was a few massive whales going nuts, not sure if I just got lucky finding them or corona is making people play crazy, I got in ahead almost every time today and to top it off won almost every all-in even though many were 60/40, EV started to even out toward the end of the day but still ended up way above it.

It was a pretty boring day in terms of actual play, most of the day was just getting it in good vs whales or exploiting TAG's preflop, not many tricky spots were played, I have been talking to some people that play higher stakes and it's been suggested if I don't mind redepositing that I should skip straight to 10nl due to the rake, I am curious to hear more opinions on the subject.

Villian was a TAG, bordering on Reg with a small but not insignificant sample

Spoiler:
Normally especially vs a TAG/Reg I would be folding the Flop but I got into my own head thinking "What if he is just betting a draw, double barreling it, then triple barreling it with a bluff when missed" I am curious if my above line of thinking has any merit or more often than not I am just going to value own myself playing in such a way

After talking to some more people I decided to jump into 10nl, not a bad first day, I decided to swap my third play session out for extra study for the day.

Spoiler:
Had a small sample of 250 hands, V was an aggro fish, my thought process is he has called the 4b pre so his range is QQ+ AK+, he doesn't even a set or 2p due to the preflop action so the scariest holding he could have is AhKh, I always question myself when calling off a jam though

A bit of a rough day mentally, opening up my ranges from a 19/16/8 TAG style mean't there were a lot more decisions to make, I tried to go from 0-100 to fast and followed some stuff blindly instead of understanding why I am following it, then implementing it, played less tables for most of the day to.

Tomorrows goal is to finish constructing my own new ranges, understand why I have each card in my range and then move forward.

Spoiler:
I think I made a good fold here because I believe his continuing range crushed mine (Sets,JJ+,Spaded A2s+,56s+,QT/KT+ and OESD), I get a bit thrown because he was a LAG that floats a good amount of flops, my thinking is yes I am going to get bluffed here occasionally, but continuing is going to cost me more money when beat than I gain when beating him, thoughts?

I guess thinking about it more, he has such a high range of things that crush me, those listed above, why would he continue with bluffs as well? Seems I might not be accounting for textures enough when considering if I am being bluffed?

Dropped one of my sessions because I am not thinking properly come the 5-6 hour mark, maybe I will add it back once I build up some mental endurance and more things become second nature.

Not a great day, a mixture of playing bad because I tried to get to fancy and do things I don't understand and a bit of just not running well.

Did not get around to posting yesterday, here is the graph for the last 2 days.

It's been an okayish 2 days, some bad plays, and a bit of getting my kings and AK owned by better holdings all in pre

I have no real idea how I should have handled the turn/river there, my line of thinking was, he was going for a draw and make him pay to see it then a missed draw, in hindsight i probably should not have bet the river, but tbh im not sure about the last 2 streets and how to approach them

Been a bit slack playing and posting the last few days, hoping to make up on some volume tomorrow.

It's gone alright, I feel like I am contentiously improving my game right now which is good, just need to increase the discipline a little more.
