Lord,

Last weekend I played a session really late and did not eat at the casino. I came straight home instead of stopping at a restaurant. By the time I got home I was really tired and didn’t feel like making any food, so I just went to sleep.

The next day when I got up I was REALLY hungry. It was terrible! Why do you think OP should be subjected to that kind of hardship?

He shouldn't, you're right. Part of the entry level grinder benefit package is 3 full hot meals full of carbs and protein, maybe a nice roast. I was a dick to think he should stoop to snacking on fruit or nuts like some woodland creature.

Lord,

Just for ****s and giggles, let’s play out your little scenario. So he gets home, can’t cook, maybe eats a couple of peanuts or whatever you’d have him eat.

Now it’s the next morning. He’s STARVING but also needs to get to work at the casino. What should he do at that point, genius?

I get it now. If he shows up starving he's more likely to spend $20+ on breakfast while still requiring 2 more meals at $15 each, bringing his meal total to at least $50 not the carefully bugeted $42.

Snacks are a hard -ev.

To succeed at TEXAS hold em, one must eat American food, not the local stuff.

Having worked at subway in AUS many years ago, I definitely wouldn't go and say it's healthy, but I get what you mean. The only things that are "fresh" are the tomatoes and onions because you have to cut them yourself. Everything else is in a vacuum sealed bag, it's horrible.

Seriously, if OP wanted to actually succeed, he would put in the effort to cook. I'm just learning to cook now because I'm staying at hostels and travelling with no money. It's honestly not that difficult to cook a huge batch of fried rice and save the rest for later.

Cooking is a life skill that everyone should have, regardless of their profession.

Just buy a large Subway with all the veggies imo, once a day, tastes ok and way cheaper than a proper restaurant meal

Lord,

I cook 4-5 dinners a week at home and am only just now starting to realize what a financial disaster this has been for me.

You need to move up to where they respect your cooking.

I would be interested in seeing his $500/mo entertainment budget breakdown tho.
Ok. Like tgiggity says, $15 per meal at a fast food restaurant sounds way too expensive. I can get a decent sized mcdonalds meal for about half that price, so I'm not sure what he is buying for that money.

For starters, don't buy drinks from these places, use your own water (the carbonated drinks at these places are horrible anyway - loaded with sugar and taste vile).

OP also strikes me as someone who buys a meal, only eats half of it (because his eyes are too big for his stomach), then throws it away. The intelligent thing to do is save it and eat it cold later.

Actually I investigated this and in Australia they sell burgers and fries at KFC. However, the burgers aren't what I'd consider burgers. They are chicken sandwiches but they look better than the chicken sandwiches sold in the US KFCs. You can even buy a double.

Also, they sell wraps.

OP said subway is similarly expensive as KFC.

1000 calories? You gotta pumpkin those numbers up. Those are rookie numbers in this racket.

$15/meal is pretty damn expensive when you are underrolled trying to play poker for a living.

I pretty much never eat out since I work from home. I eat for less than $10/day. My monthly grocery bill, which includes all other random essentials for the kitchen/bathroom, etc has been between 400 - 500 a month the last 5 months.

well if he wastes his money on expensive phones and gifts, i assume he's a wasteful person in general, so he would do the same with food.

I'm probably twice OP's age and I can afford to eat whatever I want to....and I still eat a bowl of cereal most mornings and a sandwich for lunch most days. I cant remember the last time I bought 3 meals in the same day. Its insanely expensive and ridiculously unhealthy. My wife and I are on an 8 day road trip right now and we have a cooler with us with breakfast and lunch stuff in it. This guy is out of control with his expectations of life in his sense of entitlement in general.
