stacking off with A9ss is obviously fine, you may consider checking flop in the future though when oop against cold callers, but whatever, hard to misplay nut flush draw

Only a small 4 bet to 110 after the asian guy limp/reraises you to 46 is criminal.

You are like 500 effective if you understood correctly, and this is where you want to do everything you can to stack his range wich is mostly very strong hands like QQ/KK and AK combos.

This is a classic spot where i deviate from "standard" sizing, because limp reraiser is so heavily weighted towards a nutted range that simply isnt gonna fold to any sizing. I go at least $150 here preflop, maybe even bigger in an attempt to get him to either commit everything pre, or that the pot will be so so big heading to the flop that he simply cant get away from QQ/KK.

Ya unless I misread the post wrong. Would be interesting but I think by the sounds of it he is eating a lot at Crown (casino) so it's going to bring the cost up a ton. In AUS, a meal at KFC or maccas, eg just a decent burger plus medium fries and drink can cost anywhere between 10-15 depending on what you get.

this kind of explains why she expects expensive gifts all the time. not saying all thai girls are like this, but it's common knowledge that western men travel to thailand (for obvious reasons) and the girls there are after their money. it's very lucrative for them, because average wages are so low in thailand compared to the western world. many of the girls there live very luxurious lives, funded entirely by western men's money (i.e. people like you).

you are unfortunately falling right into the trap. not meaning to be negative, but she will probably break up with you once she graduates and moves back to thailand. after having used you for as much of your financial resources as she possibly can.

anyway, i hope that doesn't happen and she stays with you for the long term. but just something to bear in mind, in case it happens.

I mean yeah, you can buy a "decent burger" + fries and a drink from mcdonalds for $10-15 where I live too. A quarter pounder is like $8 here, plus fries and a drink it would be almost $15 to eat at mcdonalds.

But anyone spending more than $6 on a meal at a fast food joint doesn't know how to read a menu. you can get the $1 Mcdouble (or 2 if you're really hungry) + $3 large fry and a water for $4. If you wanna spend 10-15 just go somewhere else, $15 basically gets you a sit down meal at a casual restauarant

2.5)McRibs (seasonal)
3)Hamburger

He already outlined this. Basic meals are 2-3 $15 fast food meals a day, so minimum is $30-45/day = $900-1300 a month right there. Then a couple times a week he takes his girlfriend out to nicer dinners. So really it's virtually impossible for him to spend less than $1300 and OP should be commended for his belt-tightening.

I would be interested in seeing his $500/mo entertainment budget breakdown tho.

Under which budget does the $850 gift phone fall?

Kelvis,

Unanticipated emergencies/acts of god. Those things can’t really be planned for, sometimes you just have an unavoidable required expense that you just have to pay. Like some medical issue, natural disaster, or needing a new iPhone.

A9s:

I wouldn't open in EP; would limp in at easy passive payoffy tables and fold at more difficult ones. Cool with the cbet. Probably have to sigh fold to the shove unless this guy is super duper aggro with lots, imo.

AA:

Think I'm ok with it. There is a crapload of perhaps action killing cards on the river so I don't mind going for the gold on the turn although obviously you could argue for a smaller raise that sets up a trivial river spot. ETA: Flop reraise is definitely on small side but it is still big enough to prevent setmining odds; I don't hate it if our main goal isn't to lose him, although it does miss value from hands that are likely continuing now that might shut down on bad flops.

QQ:

I PSB the flop cuz no one folds draws on the flop.

I understand saying that about McD's because their food is **** but I'd argue KFC tastes quite a bit better than fried chicken that most people make at home.

I've also seen people talk **** about Subway? I've always considered Subway health food with all the veggies and what not you can get on your sub. Not quite sure what those people consider "healthy" if not Subway tbh.

subway isn't too bad if it wasn't for all the chemicals added for conservation, healthy food is whole food, ideally plant-based

but I guess as far as fast food joints are concerned then subway is prob among the healthiests

What world does OP live in that spending close to $16k/year on food is considered normal? Even if he isn't the $10/h player he is right now, that's just such a massive percentage of income.

OP,

you really need to work on your bet sizing, it seems to be consistently terrible.

I know you said you were against studying until you moved up, but I think this is a pretty massive mistake, "If you arent getting better, you're getting worse" is truer in poker than anywhere else imo.

Iirc, he gets some food somewhere after he leaves the casino because he can’t cook and make a lot of noise late at night in his apartment.

Wtf do you expect this guy to do, eat a sandwich or something after a grueling session at the casino? **** that, dude deserves a nice hot meal after putting in a long day of work. Plus he’s prob too tired at that point to cook anyway.
