Time for an update!
Prague was not a very productive trip pokerwise. I busted the Eureka main in 4 hours and tried to qualify to the 2k high roller and played the 330€ Prague Cup with no dice in those either. Most likely I didn't play my best. I was overly excited the morning I left Vienna but when I got there it all kind of faded away in the mass of people in all the tournament rooms. Can't explain why. Normally I would be even more pumped and ready to play. I picked the wrong EPT stop for a mood like that though, as the fields where very good.
I got back to Vienna on Thursday with my brother and we had some nice bonding time over here. We have been living in separate countries for over 5 years now and we met up only when we both where at home in Romania, with a few exceptions where I visited him or he visited me. On a mini pub crawl we discussed a lot of meaningful things over some good quality beer.
On Friday I got back on the grind. I made a good profit by winning back to back 3,5+r 180 sng, so that was a +1k day with some other min cashes. Saturday was another grinding day and it could've been a great one, hadn't it been for my impulsive actions. Well, only one action actually. I had a lot of cashes and deep runs (17th Big 44, 18th 22 SKO) and I made the final table of the 22$ Saturday 6max. With a huge chiplead I had very good momentum up to the point where we got 5 handed. I lost AK<99 to double up a shortstack and then I doubled him up again with AQ to AK where the money went in on a Q high turn (spoiler alert...gutshot hit). These hands where ok, I guess. Even though I had lost half of my stack, I was still tied for the chiplead. Then it happened... I have A3o in the BB and defend vs the BTN opener (the guy who I doubled up twice). The flop is Js 3c 9d rainbow. I check raise his cbet almost 3x. He calls and the turn is 4h. I bet 2/3 pot, he calls. The river is another J and I overshove covering him. He tanked for his whole timebank before he called with KJ for a set.
As a conclusion, I don't mind my bluff. The thing that got me frustrated was my thought process. I didn't even assign him a range and I only realized this after I shoved and he was tanking. Around the 1 minute mark he was in the tank, I was pretty sure he had a J with a good kicker and I also knew he was going to sigh call me. If J doesn't hit the river, my bluff works. That's irrelevant however and far away from the main point. I should've thought this hand through in the smallest detail because I knew I was going to 3 barrel it.
Even thouh this was another +1k profit day, I felt miserable. It felt like I've degened away 3k in 2 minutes on a roulette spin or something.
In other news, I got a dog with my girlfriend. A beagle puppy named Jazz
I will post some photos of him.
For the next post I will prepare some insight of my new game selection tactics.
PS I intended to shoot some photos in Prague for the thread but wound up too drunk, so couldn't be bothered.
