Goodluck in your chase! I've just spent 3 months in Phuket and will be back in Thailand asap, hopefully with poker helping me get by.

Played a little during the weekend to warm up for the upcomming week, also manages to play 5 mtts or so ending up breakeven cashing small in 2 of them.

Both me and my girlfriend decided to try being sober for a month now so that will be a fun challenge as we have been drinking 3 times a week since we met before the summer But good for the poker I guess if I make it.

Only got 5 hours in today as I had alot of thing to do, booring stuff such as shopping, cleaning, cooking etc haha

Played 5max 200bb buyin at 5nl, also did some studying reading some good mtt posts/articles I found here. Long time since I played any real mtts so figured I should read up on some stuff before I give it a real go. Good thing I did becouse I realized how much I've forgotten that should be basics.

Results for the day

Wow the famous panda in my thread, high five!

Played a few more hands yesterday and won another buyin or so.
This morning I sat down and decided to spend a couple hours studying so I digged down into the micro/small stakes archives and found some really good stuff.

Alot of what I read was nothing new, but still things I've forgotten / missplaced and haven't applied at the tables for a long time.

I found a post about "quality c-bettors" and what winrate to expect when cbetting flop, and when cbetting flop+turn if being in this category.

In general, these players have a flop c-bet between 55% and 65% and a turn c-bet% between 40 and 50% (turn c-bet%s at the top of this range are very rare; most quality c-bettors are in the mid40s). These stats result from the quality c-bettor evaluating every situation to decide whether to c-bet; the quality c-bettor needs a good hand, a good board or a good situation to fire a c-bet.

If you are a quality c-bettor, your stats will look like this:

Filter in HEM: PFR=true, Flop C-Bet made = true.

Depending on how proficient you are, you will see a win rate of about 250bb/100 to 450bb/100.

Add the filter C-bet turn = True. Your win rate should increase to about 400bb/100 to about 600bb/100.

If your stats look like this, you are firmly in the “quality,” camp.
This may mean nothing in itself, and as the main point of the whole post was on how to improve redline I think the point (again) was that you should be looking at the hands where you didn't cbet to find possible redline leaks.

Anyway, I checked my stats for this (mostly couse I wanted to be called a "quality c-bettor" lol )

Stats:

Flop C-Bet = 50% , Turn C-Bet = 40%

Filtered winrates:

PFR, Flop C-Bet = +500bb/100
PFR, Flop+Turn C-Bet = +1100bb/100
PFR, NO C-Bet = +65bb/100

So my flop cbet is on the lower side and I could probably look to increase it to increase my overall winnings, but I think I qualify as a "quality c-bettor" over a "quantity c-bettor atleast.

"quantity c-bettor"

They know that an average flop c-bet success rate is around 48% and that a 2/3 of the pot-sized c-bet only needs to work about 40% of the time to show a profit. Thus, quantity players just fire c-bets the vast majority of the time and rely on the other guy's folds to make him a profit. Quantity players don't worry too much about whether this is a good or bad c-bet spot; they tend to bet all but the worst situations.

You will know that you are a quantity player if you have a flop c-bet stat up over 70% and a turn c-bet that is very low—in the neighborhood of 30-40%. Your win rate when you filter for PFR = True, Flop C-bet made = True will be significantly lower than the quality player's—it will be in the 70-200bb/100 range depending on a variety of factors, including your skill. If you add the filter, Saw Turn = True and your win rate goes negative, Congratulations! You are a true small ball flop LAg.

If you are a quantity player, the main place you should look for your red line losses is PFR = True, Flop C-bet Made = True, Saw Turn = True and Turn C-bet made = False.

This spot is negative for almost everybody, of course; the key here for quantity players is the number of hands that show up in this spot. All of those -7bb losses you'll see there are hands on which you could either have lost 3.5bb (by not c-betting the worst flops) or won the hand by adding in some double barrels.

Enought ramblings for now, off to them tables!

BTW??

Anyone know some good reading material for deepstack nlhe?

        -- SEPTEMBER --

Alot of things happened this month, both good and bad..

        1. Planned on moving to Thailand and bought plane tickets, didn't go.
        2. Planned on playing a ton of poker, didn't do it.
        3. Planned on staying single, got myself a girlfriend.
        4. Planned on making a few hundred $, actually did it..

Didn't play to many hands but I played good and got eager to start studying again and brought the fun of playing back in to it. So overall I'm happy pokerwise, and life wise aswell.

Feeling good about october, will continue my path of mainly deepstack play and add in some mtts to spice it up a bit. More volume is a promise now that I aspire to play somewhat "fulltime"

Took a pretty stupid shot today at a 100$ mtt wich didnt go to well, played a 30$ wich I busted aswell and mincashed in a 12$ so not a great day.

My sample in mtts on this site is very small but if I filter out the 50$+ buyins results aren't bad so will try to stick with those for now and only use winnings from cashgames for buyins.

Have a couple tourneys planned for tomorrow if I'm up enought from cg until then.

I'm done for the week, did 33 hours of cg play at 5nl only and played maybe 15 mtt's.

Cashgame went good as always but I'm prolly stuck like 150$ in tourneys but with a positive roi %. I'm playing better for every tourney I play and actualy got both 1st 2nd and 3rd finishes but in the smallest buyins.

This month didn't get the greatest start.
I ended september on a nice upswing, cashed out a big part of the bankroll, started off october with a downswing while throwing alot of $ at mtt's as well so I've been a little "down" last days sitting on a crippled bankroll of 10 buyins also knowing that I need to withdraw 100-150$ this sunday.

But I'm back playing with a high confidence again, graph is at ath and closing in on 1k$+ with roughly 100k hands played at mostly 5nl.

Also been talking with some great people about making a "stake+coaching" or possibly "coaching for profits deal" soon to boost my game and move on to higher stakes.

Looks like I'll be getting staked + coached starting next month.
Plan is to start out at 10nl deep tables and hopefully quickly move to 25nl deep after a few coaching sessions and some rungood.

As for right now I'll just keep grinding it out this month to make sure I have november covered moneywise.
