This place used to be called Terrible's Casino, I was walking by it with fellow 2p2er stampler a month ago and he suggested they did market research and concluded they could increase revenue 30% by simply changing the name to something that doesn't have negative connotations
I only got in a short session. I woke up today feeling a little sick. It looks like I am kinda skidding at the end of July, will be back strong for August.

Hey my pleasure, I think it is very beneficial to post a few thoughts on each session and get feedback. I hope people on here get something out of my low stakes grinder vignettes. Thanks!

July I didn't play as much as I wanted to. I was a little burnt out from killing June so I took a bunch of days off. I didn't send Kydd many hhs which is kind of a shame I didn't take more advantage of having access to a high stakes soul crusher. But that was due in part to me figuring out most spots on my own and not really running into many tough situations that confused me. I decided it was time to give playing on my own roll a shot.
I've been sticking to eating relatively well and working out almost everyday. I'm going to continue this month.
I don't have much money to work with at the moment so I'll be sticking to 1/3 for the next couple weeks but will aggressively shot take 2/5 games since I already know I can beat that stake it's just a matter of ROR.
I have started a new database on my new phone, still using session logger. The version I'm using now is pretty much the same but also has a standard deviation stat which is nice. I can also take screenshots so posting graphs will be a little less of a hassle.
2013 up until the completetion of the stake
All sessions recorded in my new database
Goals for August-
[ ] 200 hrs played
[ ] pay up for the freerolls I offered earlier in the year for failing mini challenges
I also have pledged $1 to charity for every 2 hrs I play this year. I've donated $100 so far to cancer research. Hopefully I can have a solid month and have enough cash to make another contribution so I don't have to pay up all at once on Dec 31st.
A couple more pics from First Friday, art booths and live music
I put in good volume but ****ed up a few hands including this gem where I took the worst line possible. I am posting it to embarrass myself and hopefully play better today.
Hand 1:
I just got to this table so no reads. Without seeing any showdowns it is okay to take into account stereotypes. Such as OMCs are tight, women are passive, young guys are aggressive. Obviously there are many exceptions and concrete reads can be developed after seeing a few showdowns. So stereotypes are just a baseline without any other info. I am also going to include physical descriptions because it helps my memory.
V1 (190)- 40 yo white male
V2 (300)- 30 yo asain male
Hero's Image (550)- 20 yo white male
Preflop (4):
Hero is MP dealt AA V1 limps from EP, Hero raises to 15, V2 calls from LP, V1 calls
River (245):
8
V1 bets 75 and is all in, Hero tanks and folds.
I call the flop to keep villains range wide. I called turn planning to snap any river. River comes and the board is pretty disgusting. I can't see him value betting Jx, overpairs are unlikely, I lose to all sets, 2p and str8s. I'm not sure he would ever take this line as a bluff, why not shove the turn? I make a nit fold getting 4 to 1.
Spoiler:
V1 flips AT for a complete airball nh sir (facepalm jpg)

Jealous you can play 1/3.
Cool GL. I propose a friendly competition this month for a little extra motivation. If you play 200 hrs and I don't, I owe you $100. If I play 200 hrs and you don't you owe me $100. If we both succeed or both fail it is a wash and we don't owe each other anything.

Here is a hand from a few weeks ago I never got around to posting.
Hand 1:
V1 (400)- 45 yo white male, stabs a lot postflop haven't seen any showdown but I assume he didn't have it everytime
V2 (1200)- 30 yo white male, tight
Hero's Image (460)- 20 yo white male, TAG
Preflop (17): straddled pot,
Hero is MP dealt KQ and raises to 40, V2 calls from BTN, V1 calls from the straddle
Flop (123):
J34
checks through
Turn (123):
Q
V1 bets 60, Hero raises to 200, V2 tanks and calls, V1 folds
River (583):
K
Hero bets 220 and is all in
Turn is the best card in the deck for me, easy raise. Alarm bells go off when the tight guy flats 200, I think has either Ax or 33, 44, or QJs.
River I try to go for thin value but really the only worse hands that can call are AKx, QJs. This hand is a good example of absolute value vs relative value.
Spoiler:
V1 calls with JJ nh sir

V1 (400)- 35 yo Euro male, seems pretty tight
Hero's Image (300)- 25 yo white male, been passive so far
Preflop (4):
Hero is BTN dealt KQ, V1 limps utg, Hero raise to 15, V1 calls
Flop (30):
AQQ
V1 checks, Hero bets 25, V1 calls
Turn (80):
4
V1 checks, Hero bets 40, V1 calls
River (160):
7
V1 checks, Hero bets 40
Simply going for 3 streets of value, betting river is a little questionable, not sure if he looks me up with Ax, he will probably call with Qx, and of course hands that beat me.
Spoiler:
V1 calls with KT nh sir
Hand 2:
V1 (500)- 30 yo asain male, LAG, been opening a lot and stabbing postflop, played one hand vs me where he bet 3 streets with second pair
V2 (20)- tight
Hero's Image (270)- 25 yo white male, TAG
Preflop (4):
Hero is MP dealt AK, 1 limp, Hero raises to 15, V1 calls in MP, V2 shoves for 20 total, Hero calls, V1 calls
Flop (63 main pot):
AK8
Hero bets 30, V1 raises to 75, Hero calls
Turn (63 main pot)(150 side pot):
J
[Hero checks, V1 quickly jams for 220 effective, Hero tanks and calls
I think it's a terrible call. I stoved it I have 33% equity in side pot vs a range tp+nfd, flushes, and set of 8s. I have 25% in main pot giving V1 top 10%. So it is actually kind of close but I guess calling the flop raise is probably bad. Idk if giving V2 AxQ and AxJ is too optimistic.
Spoiler:
River- 6 V1 flips 45 and wins side pot nh sir, V2 wins main pot with AT

I played a half day, no huge mistakes so I am happy about that.

Hand 1 I think I could go 60 ott, but I don't think Ax can call 60. River bet is marginal, obviously an easy fold to a c/r
Hand 2 is a pretty clear fold not many villain are sticking 220 on a semibluff, barring specific reads I can fold comfortably in this spot. Top set in this spot might be harder to fold.

Also don't mind you betting 3 streets.
Hand 2... I fold turn. Incorrectly in this case.
Hand 1 Based on timing I didn't think it was very likely that villain had Qx, so his range is Ax and fds, I guess 70 isn't a bad sizing.
Hand 2 Folding turn would be correct here, should probably just fold the flop
Hand 1:
V1 (1000)- 40 yo white male, playing tight abc
Hero's Image (650)- 25 yo white male, TAG
Turn (62):
9
Hero bets 35, folds to V1 in MP who raises to 85, Hero calls
River (232):
T
Hero bets 100
Size could probably be a little bigger on flop and turn. After I get raised ott I am getting direct odds to draw at aces full/nf so easy call. Thoughts on river sizing, I think betting slightly smaller as played would be more likely to get looked up by 9x

Fold the flop with AKo. Fold even faster because you just bet into a dry side pot and he raised you. Imo AxQ is too optimistic, but that's only two combos anyways.
In the A6 hand, bet bigger OTF and then x/c turn. Even though you dominate some other draws, it's hard to get a ton of value on this turn and you have some RIO when you hit your flush.
As suggested by 2p2er Stockholmaren back in April, I subjected myself to the spiciest stuff they had, though it wasn't as bad as the cinnamon challenge.
I think I might start doing a little video blogging maybe like once a month or so, could be fun.
I played fine today just made some second best hands. Overall this week I've played ****ty and made way too many mistakes. Time to start playing solid again.

If you fail to play 200 hours, you owe me $100.
If we both play 200 hours, it's a wash.
Deal.
Right on gl, I have to say you are probably the favorite, I've only managed to log 200 hrs in a month once out of the many times I tried.

This
In a 1/3 game....no one is ever folding a Royal draw. There is too much fame and fortune equity there.
Take this guy to quaint little place we call Value Town on the turn. Make his call ridiculously bad price wise.
Obv....you didn't know he had a royal draw....could have been a plain old flush draw or even a strong Ace that is stubborn.
Bottom line you almost always have the best hand on the turn....charge Villain to draw at you. If he has exactly AQ in this spot....there is no magic...you pay him off.
I played okay, making good folds and stuff. I'm slacking a little on volume (no surprise there). I'm going to try and buckle down and play some long sessions this weekend.

I thought I would tell the story of my first experiences playing nlhe, and some excerpts from my first Vegas trip. The first time I ever played was 2003 on an Amtrak train heading to New Mexico. I was with the boy scouts going to Philmont, the largest scout ranch in the country for a 50 mile backpacking trip. Some buddies explained the game and we bet with teddy grams it was quite entertaining. I didn't play again for a few years.
Fast forward to 2008. I get chaptered out of the Army for drinking underage and getting a DWI. So I drive back to California from North Carolina. I slept in my car and when I was awake I was driving. I was just cruising listening to my cds and watching the fuel dial go from full to empty. I made it in 2.5 days, it was an awesone feeling even better than the last day of school. Being in the military they really have you by the balls. It's August and what better way to celebrate being a drunk **** up and getting kicked out of the Army, I buy a keg and party with all my high school friends. My buddy Ryan tries to talk me into taking a driving to Vegas. I turn down the idea a few times.
We end up killing the keg the next day and I eventually give in and say **** let's go. I drive all my friends by their houses to pack clothes and we hit the road around 9 pm. I vividly remember smashing through Pacheco pass listening to God Hates Us All from Slayer, and zipping through the central valley listening to Killadelphia from Lamb of God. We get to Vegas at the crack of dawn, first stop is South Point. It was the first Casino in the valley coming from CA, before the M opened. It was also down the street from my friend's dad's huge house where we were staying. We all throw $20 on roulette, all 4 of us put it on red only 2 of my friends were over 21, so we had to give them cash to place bets for us. The wheel spins, the little ball bounces around and eventually lands in a red slot, bink! Me and a friend from the group decide to hit up the rollercoaster at New York New York with our winnings. It is a very unique view of the strip from upside down.
One other funny story, I was at the Stratosphere. We could get away with playing slots without getting carded immediately. I walking up to a video poker machine and put in a five intending to bet $.25 I let it rip and bink a full house or quads or something. I had accidentally bet the full $5 and snap cashed out $100 before anyone could come over and card me/ confiscate my cash. I was dumb enough to drink and drive but smart enough to know casinos are in the business of hustling people so I gambled sparingly.
Anyhow we stayed for a week. The trip was a blast we did a ton of drinking an blazing. It ended up being an annual tradition... then biannual. And at some point in time I decided I wanted to move here.
Well this post is tl;dr enough so I'll save my reintroduction to nlhe for next time.
