Lesson is always and repeatedly count and recount your money. I m so nitty in that regard I almost annoy myself haha but never have lost money so far.

Keep the updates coming bud vamos
I counted it every step though, I just didn't count it when it went into the safe the most important time.

I think his gii range is literally JJ+ and AK. We're not doing too well vs this range. JJ I would go with but this felt too loose

They probably figured it's more likely you'd notice a missing 1k brick than notice X amount missing from a larger brick.
That's the thing though, it was immmediately noticeable when I opened the safe. Both the 10k brick and the 5k brick were falling out the wrapper. Also one of the other boys had $ in there in loose notes and they never touched it, and it was all on the right side etc. The more I think about it the more certain I am that it didn't get taken from the safe. We were literally only all out the house twice, and only for like two hours each time.

Brutal couple of days. Regged the Millionaire Maker yesterday. Get to my table and there's one dude sitting there. Within 20 seconds he is absolutely rambling to nobody about everything and anything. Eventually he looks up at the screens and sees the NFL and starts talking about people "disrespecting the flag" and how he hates them all and how he hopes that "purple haired soccer player gets a brain tumour that lasts 60 years and dies a horrible painful death. He sums up the whole rant with "...and I'm an ex marine!" as if he's allowed to think that/act like that. It's honestly just me, him and a Chinese dealer who's nervously laughing. Anyway he's seat 4, I'm seat 2, and eventually seat 1 and 5, 7 and 9 sit down. He tries to talk to me a couple of times and I just completely ignore him, watching the Scotland game on my iPad. Eventually he nudges me and starts to talk and I just say "dude just stop" and he's like oh ok and the whole table is looking at me like I'm a total **** haha. Worst part is he busted me on my first bullet. He opens UTG to 4x at 1/200, SB trashman reg from "Liffyewaynia" calls, I 3b black AKo from BB to 3200, only 'Murica calls. Flop is K66ddx. I cbet 2400, he makes it 7400. I unblock diamonds and given how passive he has been I don't expect him to really ever have 6x (I imagine he limps his SCs pre a lot). I stick it in for 25k total and he snaps and has 76s. I'm left with like a humiliating 4.5bb.

Anyway busted that and the 2nd bullet went in. The 2nd table was fuuuuuckkkkkkkkkiiiiiiinggggggg fire at the start. I won't go into hands but I had a really tough first few hours, bled down to about 12-13k all day and finally got a nice double through Fausto Valdez (SolveForWhy guy). He was super nice, said he liked my Insta etc I've met two S4Y guys and they've been super nice, if only they knew all the **** I talk about their supreme leader at any opportunity... got my double up, came back from dinner to 600/1200/1200bba with 35k. Very first hand, 3k open, FOUR calls, I call 66 out the BB. Flop is Q96r. Yesssssss!! No. Wait. No it's not. Q95. Genuinely thought I had flopped bottom set at first few hands later and MP absolute rotman MTT live reg thing opens to 3k, I shove AJo for about 28k and he has AQs and holds. GG!

Today I took the day time off and then went in around 7pm. We were playing 5/10/20 5 handed. The game was suuuuuper good. We had One fish, one nitreg, one whale, one LAG Asian reg and me. The LAG reg had position on the whale and was 3betting him relentlessly, with QJo, A8o etc etc. BTN opens, SB whale calls, BB LAG reg makes it 310, I jam red 99 for 1500 eff. Suuuuuuper close but given how wide BB is I think it's fine. Get the fold. LAG guy is still opening every hand etc. Folds round to him in BB and he completes T3o. We get to showdown and he shows. Next orbit same thing happens. He completes, I make it 80 w A5s, he snap makes it 310. I shove about 1500 total and he thinks and says "okay, let's go." and calls. First board bricks out. Second board river ace and I show and he rolls over ATo and he scoops. Sigh, chips pls dealer.

The game went FR and genuinely it was the best live game I've ever played. The chips were flying. I used to get too loose in games like this but I'm really happy with how I played. UTG nitty 40yo Euro guy opens, we are UTG+1 w AKo and call. BTN wannabe Asian reg thing makes it 150. BB old American megarec calls, UTG folds, I make it 440 and they both call. Flop is QT5r. I block AQs and KQs. SPR is 0.7 and I decide to just shove. It's a bit ambitious but with such a low SPR and reasonable blockers I don't mind it. BTN taaaaank calls. I ask once or twice and he's like once. Brick brick and I show. He turns over red QJ from across the table. I'm like hmmm QJs is loose AF pre in my head until the dealer drags it round and actually no it's QJo. **** me to TEARS.

Had loads of other spots where I got to squeeze AKo for chunks like 4 ways to the flop, lots of KJs type squeezes vs these big recs, getting to see flops multiway with PPs and bricking. Just an unreal bleed all night. I finished down $7800 which is really disappointing. Almost $11k if you include two Millionaire Maker bullets. Thankfully I only have 2/3 of myself but it's still disheartening, especially when I know I'll never play a game like that again this trip.

Feeling quite homesick and a tough couple of days and the thought of going home crept into my mind tonight. Obviously that'll pass and we'll get on with it for a few more weeks yet!

If I were to steal someone's money I'd be very nice. What's all this "they were super nice so I don't think they are guilty"-nonsense. Don't be so naive!

When my cash got robbed from a Chelsea hotel room it was during my having breakfast downstairs. A couple hours out of the house is plenty of time to loot.

First update in a few days, it's turning into one huge blur at the moment. Recent session results...

Sunday 10th - Rio - lost $7850
Tues 12th - Bellagio - lost $4200
Wed 13th - Aria - lost $5075
Fri 15th - Bellagio - lost $5500
Sat 16th - Bellagio - won $5850
Sunday 17th - Aria/Bellagio - won $3300ish

***

That spell of losses was quite literally one of the most soul crushing 5 or 6 days I've ever had playing poker. You might think that's a bit dramatic but it really was awful, I didn't get to successfully valuebet a river for about 6 days, just a constant bleed and I felt really quite dejected. I even started grinding SkyScanner to come home and was on hold with Expedia live chat to see if I could change my flight. It was just the nut low. THANKFULLY however the last 3 sessions have been the polar opposite and I've gone from VPIP'ing once every 90 minutes to a great run of cards, lots of valuebets, flopped a few sets, nutted on a few guys' faces, you know how it goes.

A few runbad hands...

Aria, huge rec in the game, very rich guy in his late 30s/early 40s, very friendly. 5/10/20. He opens to 50, I make it 220 out the straddle w AA, he calls. Flop is QT4r. He is unreal wide so I bet 2/3 and he calls. Turn Jx, sigh x, he xb. River 7x. He bets all better hands OTT so we have best hand here almost always, bet 700 into 1k and he snaps Q7s ughhhhhhh.

Same game, same guy etc. He is in the 20, CO USA reg opens to 60, we go 200 BTN w KK, SB fish cold calls, above guy cold calls out the straddle, USA reg calls. 800 in the pot, we go to a T92r flop. Xs to me and I bet 500 into 800. Again the above guy is unreal wide. Only he calls. Dream. 8x turn. Not loving life but he checks and we shove 2k into 1800. His money is in before mine 76s nhnh. Despite this dude spraying money across the table I had been grinding for ages and gone from up 3k to down 5k so I had to just tap the table and depart.

A bunch of super marginal spots that didn't go my way and a few AI preflops and so SO many standard peelings of 3bs multiway with brick brick brick flops.

RUNGOOD HANDS!

Playing at Aria this morning. 5/10/20. Guy sits down, looks to be early 40s, fanny pack, 7am, orders a coffee. Appears to be a grinder, but is actually a bit of a whale. Not full whale but quite loose passive fish we shall say. Anyway he opens BTN to 70 off of about 1.2k. UK reg and ma boi makes it 220ish in the 5. We look down at 99 in the 10. I cold call. Not ideal but it's for sure a thing in live poker. BTN calls. Flop is 974ssh. SB x (I think he's going to bet his overpairs religiously here given I am gonna have a lot of 88/TT/JJ and the BTN connects well with this board without beating those overpairs). There is 660 in the pot and the fish has like 1k behind. Any deeper with the fish and I would pure bet this but I randomised for 50/50 which I think is okay. Spare me the hurrr durrrr top set pure bet its live poker bro chat, with such a low SPR with the fish I am completely okay checking this sometimes. x/x/x. Turn 5h. SB bets 450, I call. Shoving didn't cross my mind at the time but bigstealer gave me some stick on Insta for not ripping here so I guess jam is an option. BTN folds. River annoying 8h. We have gross spot vs a shove, but he bets 650 into 1500ish. I thought for a minute or so and I really do think he just shoves his flushes and his JT and rare 6x combos. I tanked for a lil while and it's just one of those spots where I think we always have the best hand. It's thin for sure but I shoved for $1150ish more. He tank folds and said he had KK after. Interesting hand for sure.

Absolute dream hand at the Bellagio the other night. Spoiler alert my sizing scheme isn't ideal in hindsight. Thought it was fine in game but a few TeamHeart boys have told me otherwise. Get moved to a new table and gorgeous Italian man opens UTG. We are UTG+1 and look down at black Dean and Josh (AA). We make it 100. Folds round to Italiano and he makes it 400. We are like $3500 eff. Nothing else to do. Call and pray to see no Kx and ideally no Qx. Flop is Q54r. He xs and I bet $220 into $815. He calls. Turn 6c bdfd. He xc vs $450 into $1250. River glorious 4x. He x and I shove for about 1.2x pot. He snnnnnnnnaaaaaaaaaap picks up a stack of chips and I'm immediately like oh no he has QQ. Fortunately those chips are only getting ruffled. After about 5 seconds he sighs. We have best hand for sure. 20 seconds later he calls and we scoop a big boy $7k pot

Last one. Bit of a backstory first. We go from Aria to Bellagio at 7am after Aria game dies. I get the urge to shoot some dice in between. Won a very cheeky $2k but I also bet $25 on 'make em all' which basically means if I roll a 2,3,4,5,6,8,9,10,11 and 12 before I roll a 7 I win. The odds are 150/1. I knocked out the hard ones first, the 2/3/11/12s. I then rolled a bunch of lovely numbers that got me paid and before I know it all I need is to roll a 10 for $3750. I rolled a 9, an 8, an 11, another 9, and then crapped out the table was empty and it was just me and a few chill dealers, even the pit boss was absolutely loving it, but unfortunately we crapped out. It was a LOT of fun but I went from doing that to sitting at 5/10 at Bellagio with a euro nit, 6 old men and a super aggro Asian kid which might give an indication as to why I got so loosey goosey when I got a seat. I have played extremely well this trip in terms of not leaking/bleeding/discipline/almost no "ach I'm bored I'll peel the 87o from the BB vs UTG open" type stuff that has seeped into live poker for me on previous trips, but after the above craps degeneracy the discipline went out the window today a little. Not a lot, but still more than it should have been.

Anyway we were down like $1500 in this game and we open BTN w AQo. Euro robotic play style reg 3bs BB, we call. Flop is Q65sxx. Euro robotic reg bets 50%, I call. Turn 7s. He bets again. I call, getting ready to snap call and happily lose on almost every river (I say happily because I'm obviously supposed to call it off OTR a ton and if he has a better hand that's completely okay, getting stacked in a completely normal way no longer tilts or upsets me). River is As and he checks and we shove and he calls after a minute and we win.

Few orbits later CO opens, we 3b JTdd from BTN, above Euroreg makes it 320. We're like 1.8k eff so peeling is fine, it's super close at 1.5k eff. Flop is QT2ddx. He bets 170. We call. Turn Kd. When will it end boys?! He throws in a 1k chip and I thought he jammed so snap pick up a stack but the dealer is giving him a peace sign so I look at her quizzically and she says "two hundred". Thank you Jesus I didn't put that stack in and turn my hand over. I mull it over and jam and he tanks and eventually says "**** it" lmao. I ask once or twice and he is normally a twice guy but he just goes once this time which is weird. I show my hand. River Tx and I'm like ahhh noooooooo coz I'm a mental game fish but obviously we win.

Not much else to report, I'm on a ghastly 2pm-10pm sleep schedule that I'm trying so so hard to break out of but I just can't do it would like to be on the 10pm to 6am so I can live normally but it's not happening for whatever reason.

Also gonna start thinking about selling for the main pretty soon. Gonna sell 33-50% at 1.5. PM if interested. Or just roast me publicly, up to yall.

Time is flying at the moment and I can't believe I've been here a month already. The line-up in the house has changed with ma boi Smitdude heading home, zLasVegas moving out, and welshgaz and long time friend Adam and his buddy Jared moving in for the last few weeks. As ever it's me that books the house and deals with the comings and goings so I didn't feel one bit bad about winning the flip for the big room, I should get it automatically every year

The weekend just past we went to EDC, it was a truly phenomenal weekend. We went along with Mike from Upswing and all his friends and they were so very welcoming which made everything just great fun. Got to see Tiesto, Eric Prydz and Kygo, those were the only ones I knew unfortunately! A really class weekend and very hopeful I'll be back in May.

As for poker, I've been running much better at cash games and have done well in a couple of MTTs, a really nice turnaround since that awful 2nd week I had here. Idk if I mentioned it but I was looking at flights home, things were that depressing. Fortunately we grinded through and things are going well now. 5/T has been really awful so I've jumped in and played a decent amount of 5/5/rock PLO at Aria. I've played quite a lot of PLO this year on apps and untracked stuff so I know my way around but obviously I'm not being Stars games or whatever. These games can be okay though and are far better than grinding dead 5/T games. I played a buuuuunch before EDC but a lot of those hands have fallen out my head. I'll do my best to remember some PLO hands.

5/5/rock, two young guys in the game who are friends, both know they are spots and one of em is very vocal about it. He is blind straddling to $30 every hand. I can't remember how the action went but we are $3k eff and I put the last pot in pre from the SB w AA33hhxx and someone called and the young loud spot called (fwiw he was loud and knew he was a spot but still a nice guy). $900 in there and the flop is 954r. OP, gutshot, BDNFD. X, reg thing x, fun player pots, we be brave and jam $2900ish, he calls. I snap show and ask for twice, he says he only goes once but my hand is a good hand. Turn is a Q and he goes "not any more though". River is an ace and he turns over Q432 bleughhh.

Was down about $7k in that game (which was amazing) and then our game broke and we got moved to another game. Big Eastern Euro rec in this game, played w him a bit, he beams at me as if I'm his eldest son as I sit down. Played a strange pot with him to get out the hole. I think I butchered this one but I had been grinding for hours and hours in my defence. Again this is pre EDC so remembering as best I can. Whale limps UTG, weird reg thing calls, I pot it with AxQcTc4x IP (to isolate whale ofc). We end up going 6 ways to thte flop. Flop is KcJc4h. We have wrap, 2nd NFD and OESFD. Xs round. Defo should just pot flop and put all my monies in vs the $1kish stacks. We are deep w whale but we can cross that bridge if he continues. Anyway it checks round and turn is an offsuit 7. Fireworks. Weird reg bets out the BB for $100, I call. Whale snap pots to $700, reg shoves $1700, I have equity comin out the wazoo and cold call the $1700 (whale has got like $1300 left at this point I should just stick it in). The whale is like hmm ok and calls. The reg leans into the table from seat 9 and begs to RIT. I'm like err we're not AI. River 8c. Whale slaaaaaaaams the table in frustration. Reg slaaaaaaaaaaaaaaams the table in frustration. I shove, whale rage folds 77 face up and the reg has got 4 pairs like I say butchered but a fun hand nonetheless.

Onto MTTs. Venetian $1100. Make day 2, loving life, 40bb for day 2. Make it down to the final 75ish players, healthy stack, $230k up top, playing suuuuuper well, soft-ish table. 20kbb, EP opens, MP American 50ish year old in bicycle shorts shoves for like 380k, I look down at black QQ and re-shove. EP folds JJ. MP has red TT. Flop is 952ccc. Turn is the Tc. Sometimes you just feel the dreaded board pair river coming, this wasn't one of those times though. I felt super chill about it. 5x otr. American spins round in his seat and goes 'yeahhhhhhhhhh' and sort of punches the air in the campest way possible. Not that there is anything even remotely wrong with punching the air in a camp way, it's just the best way to describe how he did it nh sir. Busted a few hands later w A7o into AQo. Sigh.

I swore never to play MTTs again but 2 days later (today) I jumped into the Orleans $1k main. Had a really nice stack of 240k for the last 2 levels at 3kbb but by the time we got to 4kbb I was nursing a 55k stack at one point. Fortunately I managed to bag 125k (I think) and move onto day 2. Basically itm now which is nice. Have also sold out for the main too!

Back to cash grind Saturday before day 2 Sunday. Myself and welshgaz have agreed that if we bust early we'll fire the tag team on Sunday. Then it's main event day 1 on Thursday and I'm not gonna lie if I don't make day 2 I think I'm done. I've been away since the middle of Sept. It's been an epic trip but I'm all Vegas'd out, the never ending soda refills are starting to get to me, I miss my cat, I miss grey skies, I'm about ready to go home

Having said that, still having a really awesome time and super grateful to be here

There are two Day 2s this year due to their being 6 Day 1 flights to accommodate some European players who have just recently travelled after restrictions were lifted, players from Day 1A, 1B and 1D played Day 2 yesterday (Day 2abd) and players from Day 1C, 1E and 1F play their day 2 today.

Back to normal with Day 3 entire field combines tomorrow

Hiiiiiiiiiiii sorry for lack of updates, you know how it goes in Vegas.

Day 1 of the Main, had a pretty average table, everyone super quiet/unfriendly. Bit of a grind but the deck smacked me in the face for an hour or two and I was up to 240k chips. I then played a hand that ranges somewhere on the spectrum between questionable to downright utterly ****ing horrific. I shan't be sharing it but let's just say it was avoidable. Knocked me down to 100k chips and I had to grind through to bag 175,700.

On one of my days off I went into the Aria and lost $6k in a very soft cash game. Que sera sera!

Day 2 of the main was yesterday and it was very smooth for the most part. I chipped up nicely and bagged 385kish. Really happy with that. I ran really well overall and I'll hold my hands up and say that I made a few mistakes towards the end of the day. A couple of mistakes...

I open A5ss in CO, SB decent Cyprus reg calls, BB decent Mexico reg calls. 12.1k in the pot. Flop is T74ssx. Checks to me, I randomise for 75% cbet and bet 4k. SB calls. 20.1k in the pot. Jx. He checks, I bet 13.5k, he calls. River 4x. He checks. This should be close to a pure give up, we have so many combos of KQ/AQ/AK/A9/A8 without a spade that we can just give up here. Ace of spades bad card coz SB will flat hands like A6ss type stuff. I guess 5s not so bad but still really not ideal bluff combo. I bet 32k into 47k otr and he snaps KJss

Second mistake hand. BTN suuuuuuuper aggro fun player opens to 6500 at 2kbb. We are very deep and look down at 66 in SB. Mandatory peel. If we flop set we win fat pot. Billy Baxter is in BB and makes it 21k. BTN calls, I call. Super standard so far. QQ5r flop. Billy boi cbets 21k OTF. BTN folds. I call. I xf on Jx turn. Pre is fine, but flop is just an absolute snap fold. You might think "okay small flop mistake, no big deal" but I'm really focused on preserving my stack and eliminating these mistakes. I've played super well all summer, even in the MTTs, and I'm disappointed I cost myself 20k OTF here vs Billy and 32k OTR vs Cyprus. That's 52k extra chips I could have at the end of the day, and as we approach the bubble I want to have as big a stack as possible. It's really important for me to eliminate these daft mistakes and keep my stack as big as I can. A bit of fatigue, a bit of over excitement, who knows. Focus required.

I have also been making mistakes with regards to my river sizes in MTTs that I realised yesterday. I'm not mad at myself for this however as it stems from coming from a cash game background; normally when the SPR is like 1.2ish OTR I only really have one size of all in, but in MTTs that just doesn't need to be the case. Yesterday EP tight reg opens, I flat JJ in MP, flop is J75ssx. He bets, I raise (coz I have a set on a FD flop so I'm just always raising vs this type of player). I bet 6x turn. River is Kx and the pot is like 130k. He's got like 150k. I shoved coz that's what I thought the best thing to do is, but after speaking to some MTT friends, it's much better to just bet like 70k or something and get paid almost always. People won't call for their tournament life there w AA, but they'll sigh snap 70k. So I've cost myself in a few spots by jamming but like I say I'm not mad at myself for it, it's just because it's the norm for me.

I've done my research for day 3 and after 2 tough tables on day 1 and 2 it looks like we've got a really nice table draw for day 3. There is a guy at my table who I have played a ton at the Commerce with called Ubaid (pronounced "Ohh-Bee"). He is a very friendly guy but so difficult to play with because he's so aggressive. Thankfully he is 2 to my right.

Really happy with how I've played all trip, let's do our best tomorrow to stay focused in the later levels.
